Synopsis
Auctioneer Wren Morgan is cataloging the contents of the Campbell house, an ante-bellum mansion with a Civil War-era lost jewels legend. She was hoping to find something interesting, but the naked dead guy on the stairs is an unwelcome surprise. When the body turns out to belong to a small-time criminal with ties to a more recent jewel heist, Wren suddenly finds herself face-to-face with Death.
Death Bogart (pronounced “Deeth”) is a disabled Marine combat vet, down on his luck and trying to start over as a private eye and part-time bounty hunter. The stolen jewels he’s searching for are the final evidence needed to convict a murderer — and the reward money could turn Death’s life around.
In Wren, Death finds a friend and a willing ally — someone to help him learn to overcome his new physical limitations, and possibly even a second chance at love. But Death and Wren aren’t the only ones searching for treasure. Two ruthless men are also on the hunt, and they will do anything to eliminate the competition. To survive, Death and Wren will have to solve two mysteries spanning a century and a half and outwit a pair of cold-blooded killers.

My review:Death and the Redheaded Woman by Loretta Ross (An Auction Block Mystery#1)

4 STARS

This mystery has a treasure trove of jewelry or two. Lots of action, romance, humor and suspense. mild swearing. Good characters, small town life & mysteries. I did guess right on where some jewelry was hidden.

Wren Morgan went in to a home left to a historical society to get it ready for auction and finds a naked dead guy. She has never seen him before. She is single and works for a auction house that is full of characters. Wren surprised me with her weapons and skill using them.

Death Bogart has lost everything including his health in the last three years. He has brought in a man who broke his bail bond. While he was at the police station he saw Wren. He also I.D. the dead guy and knew he had a clue to missing jewelry heist.

Wren and Death work together to find the jewelry and they kept getting into trouble. Death does not have the health he had before being wounded as a Marine. Wren and Death make a good team.

I so want to read the next book in this series. I sure hope it comes out soon.

This is a story that caught my attention right off and I did not put it down till I finished it.

I was given this ebook by Net Galley and Midnight Ink. In return I agreed to give honest review of Death and the Redheaded Woman.

  2. Hi! I've been told it's rude for the author to lurk around reviews and that it can make people uncomfortable. I don't want to do that, but I did want to just stop by long enough to thank Readalot for taking the time to be part of this! Also, thanks to everyone who read and or commented on it. :)
