The Tulip ResistanceAbout the book:
Pulled into a war she doesn’t understand, Marieka Cordoven is just a Dutch girl who wouldn’t dare resist the Germans. But helping a wounded German soldier—a defector—changes her mind about everything. This tense historical drama delves into the intricacies of the Dutch resistance, its grit to defy orders, and its plan to do what’s right.

My review:  The Tulip Resistance by Lynne Allen

4 STARS

The Tulip Resistance starts before Hitler's army rolled into Holland.  Shows life in the country and how easy at first the Germans took the country.  Lots of drama, war, violence and brave, caring.

Marieka Cordoven is a Dutch girl who gets up early to milk the cow, gather eggs and then she rides her bike and makes deliveries.  Her family is Christian. She has older brother Bastiaan.  Lives with her parents, brother on a farm.

Bastiaan and his best friend Abram like to tease  Marieka.
Abram is Jewish. They tell a little about what the Jewish had to go through.
Marieka finds a wounded German soldier.  He has been forced to join the army.  He does not want to fight for Hitler.  Marieka decides to help him.

It also shows some of the Dutch resistance and what they are doing.  It shows how you don't know who to trust.  There are spies everywhere.

There are good and bad people in every group. You can't say all Germans or Jews are bad or good.
I like how the ones hiding together became close and realized  that they could trust each other.

I hate how real people die in war.  That evil exists.  It makes the war real.

I was given this ebook to read by Cedar Fort Publishing.  In return I agreed to give a honest review and be part of The Tulip Resistance blog tour.
