Conard County Witness by by Rachel Lee (Conard County: The Next Generation)

Description

In New York Times bestselling author Rachel Lee's newest Conard County romance, a killer stalks a wounded warrior and the woman he's vowed to protect

I found you. The game begins. The note wasn't a threat exactly. But Jess McGregor senses danger. The wounded ex-soldier offers Lacy Devane a place to feel safe after her stint in witness protection. But someone is after her… Or is Jess the intended target?

Jess and Lacy are practically strangers. And the powerful attraction stirring between them may feel like a betrayal to Jess's late wife—Lacy's closest friend. But as a big freeze envelops Conard County, the warmth and healing they find in their growing friendship will be put to the ultimate test by a deranged killer

My review: Conard County Witness by by Rachel Lee (Conard County: The Next Generation)

4 Stars
Good characters, mystery, couple of love scenes.  Lots of familiar characters from past books we see a little of them.

Jess McGregor is a widower.  He was a medic in the war.  He lost his leg in the war.  Now he is PA in a clinic.

Lacy Devane has been in witness protection and the FBI says she is now safe. She does not feel safe.  Her best friend was Jess's late wife.  Jess offered to let her come to his place and be off the grid.

Jess finds a threatening letter on his porch right after picking up Lacy at the bus station.  He does not know if someone  found her or if someone is after him.

Besides wondering who might have left the note.  They also have to worry about being outside.  It got down to -30 degree.  So they can't be outside for long without a lot of right clothes to protect from frost bite.

We do see who the bad guy is and who he is targeting pretty early.

Good fast read.

I was given this ebook to read for free from Harlequin and Netgalley.  In return I agreed to give a honest review of Conard County Witness.
