Description
USA TODAY bestselling author Sarah Morgan heats up the season with the O'Neil brothers in a brand-new holiday series!
Once upon a time, Christmas was Kayla Green's favorite time of year. Now all the workaholic wants for Christmas is for it to be over—as fast as possible! So when duty calls her to snowy Vermont to close a deal with a new client, Kayla is grateful for an excuse to avoid the holidays for another year.
Jackson O'Neil left a thriving business behind to return home and salvage his family's resort—it's in his blood, and he can't let it fail. Now that he's got marketing whiz Kayla Green working with him to put Snow Crystal on the map, success is on the horizon. The fact they strike enough sparks off each other to power all the Christmas lights in Vermont is just an added bonus.
Kayla might be an expert at her job, but she's out of her depth with Jackson—he makes her crave the happy-ever-after she once dreamed of, and it's terrifying. As the snowflakes continue to swirl, will the woman who doesn't believe in the magic of Christmas finally fall under its spell?

My review: Sleigh Bells in the Snow (O'Neil Brothers #1) by Sarah Morgan
4 STARS
This is the first book of the three O'Neil Brothers but the second one I have read. So many of the outcomes I already knew but did not stop my enjoyment of the book. Still love the O'Neil family of characters and friends. We are introduced to all the main characters in this book. But the main characters are Kayla Green and Jackson O'Neil.
Kayla Green is from Great Britton but lives and works in New York City. She is in marketing. On her way up. She is always working.
Jackson O'Neil has his own company in Europe but has taken a backseat in it so he could come home after his fathers death and save the family ski resort in Vermont. His Grandfather is fighting him all the way. He knows what will help to save the business and is using his own cash to help update it.
Jackson talks Kayla to spend a week at Snow Crystal to see what makes the resort special and help convince his family in her ideas to make it better. Kayla agrees and decide the week of Christmas would be good to stay in a cabin in the woods by herself to escape Christmas holidays.
I like how welcoming the O'Neil family is to Kayla. They want to share everything with her. The resort sounds like something I would love to go and participate in. I don't even ski but the descriptions paint a beautiful scenes of special places.
Their are a few love scenes that I skipped over in it. I loved the drama, the histories of the characters and how they help each other to communicate and grow.
I can't wait to read the second book of the O'Neil Brothers. I already have it loaded on my kindle.
I was given this ebook to read by Net Galley and Harlequin. In return I agreed to give honest review of Sleigh Bells in the Snow.

Easter, 2009. The nation is still reeling from the previous year’s financial crisis. Ferndale Police detective Martin Preuss is spending a quiet evening with his son when he’s called out to investigate a savage after-hours shooting at a bakery in his suburban Detroit community. Struggling with these questions, frustrated by the dizzying uncertainties of the case and hindered by the treachery of his own colleagues who scheme against him, Preuss is drawn into a whirlwind of greed, violence, and revenge that spans generations across metropolitan Detroit.

An inconvenient wedding
Wherever Caleb O'Malley goes, trouble follows, and trouble is the last thing Rebecca Thurston needs. But when Caleb appears—gravely wounded—at Rebecca's Smoky Mountain cabin, she can't turn him away. His life depends on her kindness, but she never anticipated it would lead to an unwanted proposal.
Caleb never forgave himself for the accident that ended Rebecca's engagement and destroyed her life. He doesn't want to hurt her again. But after a week recuperating at her cabin, there is only one way for Caleb to protect both their reputations from scandal. Neither of them wants to tie the knot, but as Rebecca and Caleb spend time together, will they find there's more to their marriage than convenience?

My review: Married by Christmas by Karen Kirst (Smoky Mountain Matches)
3 stars
Married by Christmas is a nice story. I have not read other books in this series so have not connected to a lot of the characters. It has drama, action, faith and prayer.
I like Caleb, Rebecca that they are willing to sacrifice to protect Amy, and save each other. Rebecca is so angry with Caleb for something that happened a year ago. She finds him wounded by a gunshot and drags him into the house.
Caleb is close to dying but Rebecca fights to save him.
Because Rebecca had Caleb at her cabin with just her and her sister people think she should marry him. For most of the time Caleb was out of it with high fever. Rebecca refuses to marry him but then her sister suffers for it. So they agree to marry in name only.
The setting for this story is Gatlinbury, Tennessee December 1881
Rebecca and Caleb have to deal with forgiveness of each other and themselves. Plus Caleb witnesses a murder and was shot trying to save the marshal. The outlaws are on the lookout for him, while the law is looking for the outlaws.
I love the simple Celebration of Christmas. Homemade gifts or items that are really needed or wanted. The focus on the Savior's birth.
If you have read other Smokey Mountain Matches you will probably see a lot of old friends.
I was given this ebook to read and in return agreed to give a honest review of Married by Christmas. Received ebook from Net Galley and Harlequin.

4 stars
I love the cover of this book. Jacob Baron finds out that he has a two year old son. He does not want to be a father right now is his first reaction. Then he thinks about it and jumps right into learning how to be a father.
Jacob is a hard worker. He works full time and rodeo's on the weekend. His father gets proud of his wins. If he can make it to the champion rodeo he will have the job he has been fighting for years. Jacob does not feel close to his adoptive family.
Mariana Snow loves her nephew. She makes a hard choice to let the father know he has a two year old son. That he can be part of his life if he wants to. Her sister got pregnant on purpose. But her cancer has come back and taken her life. Mariana is a lawyer.

the Betrayed by Heather Graham (Krewe of Hunters)
Description

Sleepy Hollow isn't so sleepy anymore…
One night, New York FBI agent Aiden Mahoney receives a visitor in a dream—an old friend named Richard Highsmith. The very next day he's sent to Sleepy Hollow because Richard's gone missing there.
Maureen—Mo—Deauville now lives in the historic town and works with her dog, Rollo, to search for missing people. She's actually the one to find Richard…or more precisely his head, stuck on a statue of the legendary Headless Horseman.
Mo and Aiden, a new member of the Krewe of Hunters, the FBI's unit of paranormal investigators, explore both past and present events to figure out who betrayed Richard, who killed him and now wants to kill them, too. As they work together, they discover that they share an unusual trait—the ability to communicate with the dead. They also share an attraction that's as intense as it is unexpected…if they live long enough to enjoy it!

I did not know Sleepy Hollow was a real town. Sleepy Hollow, New York and Washington Irving story is the setting for this book. I would be freaking out if I found a real head on a statue of the headless horseman in Sleepy Hollow. (Probably if I found one anywhere.) Good setting for this book. It is also October in Sleepy Hollow. Lots of creepy graveyards.
The suspense was pretty good. I was leaning toward one of the suspects but others were a surprise. It was scary at times.
Richard Highsmith is a politician who was supposed to be speaking at a fundraiser. He was alone for a few minutes and he disappeared. There was lots of security around. They locked the building down. People thought he would go far in politics.
I liked the characters. Maureen Mo Deauville and her dog Rollo find the head. Mo and Rollo have a great record for finding the people she is searching for. She likes finding live ones best. She also makes greeting cards. She is single. She also lives in a old house with ghosts.
Aiden is a FBI Agent newly assigned to Krewe of Hunters out of New York. He really is not happy to that group. He feels he does not belong with them. He is from the area of Sleepy Hollow. The missing was a friend of his.
Their are plenty of suspects that we learn about.
Learn a lot about the area and the history. Lots of ghosts in this story. It makes a good interesting book. Did not want to put it down till I had finished reading it.
I was given this ebook to read for reviewing. All opinions are mine. Received this from Net Galley and Harlequin.

This Hero for Hire by Cynthia Thomason
Description
He's more than her protector…
Being a cop in a small Georgia town is a pretty peaceful job, and one that Boone Braddock takes pride in. Babysitting the governor's daughter, however, isn't Boone's idea of police duty. Especially when it's Susannah Rhodes, who has an impulsive streak a mile wide.
Boone was Susannah's crush in high school. He's still unmistakably handsome. Worse yet, it's impossible to keep anything from him—like the real reason she's returned home. And it's more impossible still to keep her distance. Because a long time ago, the two had shared something special. Something that was never finished….

4 STARS
This Hero for Hire was good. The topic of organic farming and election are perfect topics right now. This keeps your attention and interest in the story. Has some twists that you don't see coming to soon. It is a clean read. Shorter story but good.
Boone makes a good hero. He is a cop. He does not want to bodyguard the Governor's daughter but can't turn him down. He tries to be fair and a compromise instead of just forcing his decision on everybody.
Susannah Rhodes does get into trouble a lot. She has come home to help her father win another term as Governor. She also has a second part that she wants to keep from her father till after the election. She is not home an hour when she gets into trouble the first time. She cares about animals, and organic gardening.
Governor Rhodes is glad that his daughter wants to come home to help him win. He knows that trouble follows her. He plans on leaving on three week around the state. He decides when his daughter does not want full security at least to have cop keeping her safe and stay with her for three months.
Susannah at 15 had a crush on senior footballer Boone and kissed him that left him stunned.
I liked the book. I wish my garden was as well as Susannah's.
