An anonymous donor creates a prize for One Billion Dollars to inspire social entrepreneurs to promote world change. Lionel Lane, an idealistic entrepreneur, partners with his brilliant ex-girlfriend Maxine Gold to turn around his struggling San Francisco-based company Double Vision Beverages to compete for the Big Disrupter Award.

With the help of a venture capitalist and an eccentric financier, Double Vision expands into energy drinks using the pure water from the mountains of Telluride, Colorado. Talented 21-year-old extreme skier, Reddi Christiansen, becomes the face of their quest for the youth market.

One by one the leading competitors in the Big Disrupter fall victim to unexplained tragedies. The police are mystified. The prize for social good becomes a death trap, but too rich to resist. Desperate for protection, Lionel, Maxine and Reddi enlist a former Navy SEAL cyber guru. The faster they race towards the approaching award deadline, the more the escalating dangers threaten to spin them off a cliff.

Paul Markun grew up an entrepreneur and dreamer, starting with his first paper route at age nine in the Canal Zone of Panama.

Living in Telluride, Colorado, he started four companies with best friends before he was 24, including Fly By Night Builders, The Illusions Company, High Country Trekkers–you get the idea; great names, cool ideas, not much income.

He moved to Silicon Valley, got more education and tech experience, and started SoftIRON Systems and Fullspeed Networks, and rode the wave of the late 1990s to success. He sold SoftIRON Systems to the Williams Company (WilTel), a Fortune 300 company. In 2001 his company Fullspeed was acquired by Callisma, which became Pac Bell and then AT&T. You know them, right?

In the first decade of the 2000s, he joined fellow entrepreneurs to lead marketing for Netcordia, which later IPO’d as Infoblox (NYSE:BLOX). He also ran marketing for Sitecore, a web software company, growing it 10 X from an $8 million fledgling niche provider to an established global corporation. Paul continues to be involved with emerging companies to this day.

Paul met his wife Rachel, an attorney, when he was 18 and she was even younger at the University of Chicago. Their fountains of inspiration are their two sons and a daughter.

A passionate story teller, he turned his energies to writing about topics and characters close to his own heart. His first novel is The Big Disrupter.

My Review:Lone Wolf Standing by Carla Cassidy

4 STARS

This is a mystery of a Aunt Liz who raised her three nieces after their mom abandoned them with her. Now she is missing. The cops have looked into the case and have no leads. In both previous books Sheri's older sisters have found love with two of the detectives working the case.

This is the third and last book of the series. I like that it is only three books to the series. So I can remember them. I guessed one of the twists but was surprised at the rest. Their is one love scene I skipped over. I like the characters.

Sheri is waiting for her prince. She knows he will be tall and blond hair. Sheri owns her own business sell Amish goods to tourists. She sells quilts, furniture, cheeses and other goods. Sheri is quiet in a group. She lives alone on five acres of woods. She has a well trained dog named Highway.

Jimmy Carmani is the third detective. He is short with dark hair. He is called to go to Sheri's house that she has a gun on someone. Sheri has no shooting signs all around her property. When local hunter is hunting she gets her shotgun out. Jimmy has no family and is from the big city.

Someone is following Sheri home from work. Her dog is barking and does not bark at animals. Sheri calls Jimmy out. While he is their checking out her place they agree to hang out sometimes as friends. Since his two co-workers have found love with Sheri's sisters.

Now someone is after Sheri.

This is a fast read. We find out who took Liz and why. We know a little about Liz from the previous two stories.

The setting is small town thirty miles from Hershey Pennsylvania. Has a Amish community.

My Review: The Texan's Cowgirl Bride by Trish Milburn (Texas Rodeo Baron)

4 STARS

I like Savannah Baron. She is a fighter, hard worker, talented and loves her family. But her father is driving her crazy.

Travis Shepard lost his wife. He is afraid of getting close to anyone again. He had a crush on Savannah in high school. He had to work out a lot of issues. I like him

The Texan's Cowgirl bride goes on an emotional ride. Savannah after a fall while riding in rodeo is asked about her family history. She decides to try and find her mom. She gets Travis to find her. Savannah does not want to burden her family with her health scare.

Savannah and Travis has some fun dates and grow close fast. Travis a few times was really there for Savannah when she had to go to hospital. It was good that she had him to count on most of the time.

The setting for the book is on a ranch store in Texas the Peach Pit that Savannah managed and started for family.

There were a couple of love scenes that I skipped over. It was a fast enjoyable story.

I will want to read more books of the Texas Rodeo Baron by Trish Milburn.

My Review: Protective Instincts by Shirlee McCoy

4 STARS

This is one series I want to read all the books in the series. I really like the characters and want to see more of them. It is a good suspense. I did figure out who the bad guy was early on. I like the humor and banter between the brothers. I like that they worry about keeping people safe over money. It has some action, caring relationships and is a clean read.

Raina has suffered a lot in the past few years. She lost her family, then was kidnapped. Now she is trying to bring Samuel a little boy that helped her when she was a captive to live with her for a year and to get a artificial leg fitted.

Samuel has lost his family in Africa. Then he lost his leg during the rescue of the missionaries. You just want to hug him and comfort him. He comes here to where things are so different. He has a mind of his own about what he wants.

Jackson Miller helped bring Raina home from being kidnapped in Africa. Now he and another member of their team are escorting Samuel to Raina. When they get there they find Raina in danger. Jackson is not just going to leave her and Samuel to fight by themselves.

When Jackson is questioned by the cops, his brothers show up to help him.

Raina is wanting to help Samuel, but she can't face going back to Africa. So she arranges for Samuel to be escorted so he is not traveling alone. She has cleaned out her son's room to make room for Samuel. It was hard for her, but she is doing the right thing for her.

I just really enjoyed reading Protective Instincts.

My Review: Hard Ride to Dry Gulch by Joanna Wayne

4 STARS

Lots of drama, suspense. Faith is a strong female character. She will do anything to help find her son. Their is one love scene that I skipped over. Some violence.

Faith is a single mom. Her son went missing ten months ago. She knows he would not just run away like the police think he did.
She has gone into sleazy places dressed like a hooker to try and find information. She has a good friends, not much family support.

Travis Dalton is a cop. He met Faith when she looked like a hooker. Now she is bridesmaid in his brother's wedding. Travis is single. He has issues dealing with his father but is very close to his brother Leif. He checks out Faith and decides he will look into her missing son.

Cornell Ashburn is 18. Some say he was into drugs, was known days before he disappeared to be seen at a strip club. Had no reason to runaway from home.

Joni Dalton is Faith's good friend has been their for her since her son went missing. She is now married to Leif.

I feel like I have missed out on some from not reading earlier books in the series. Still a enjoyable story.

Their is lots of danger from powerful men in drug trade. No one will cross Georgio Trosclair he owns the Passion Pit strip club and a few other businesses. The cops have a hard time getting him up on charges because witnesses disappear.

I wish the book was longer and we got to know the characters better. I want to read the books in the series I missed and want to read the next and see how the future unfolds. I liked it.

I was given this ebook to read and asked in return to give honest review of it by Netgalley and Harlequin.

the Cottage on Juniper ridge by Sheila Roberts (Life in Icicle Falls, #4)

How to Change Your Life…

Can a book change your life? Yes, when it's Simplicity, Muriel Sterling's guide to plain living. In fact, it inspires Jen Heath to leave her stressful, overcommitted life in Seattle and move to Icicle Falls, where she rents a lovely little cottage on Juniper Ridge. And where she can enjoy simple pleasures—like joining the local book club—and complicated ones, like falling in love with her sexy landlord, Garrett Armstrong.

Her sister Toni is ready for a change, too. She has a teenage daughter who's constantly texting her friends, a husband who's more involved with his computer than he is with her, and a son who's consumed by video games. Toni wants her family to grow closer—to return to a simpler way of life.

Other women in town, like Stacy Thomas, are also inspired to unload their excess stuff and some of the extra responsibilities they've taken on.

But as they all discover, sometimes life simply happens. It doesn't always happen simply!
Series: Life in Icicle Falls (Book 4)

Mass Market Paperback: 384 pages
Publisher: Harlequin MIRA (February 25, 2014)

My review: The Cottage on Juniper Ridge by Sheila Roberts (Life in Icicle Falls, #4)

4 STARS

This book is about changing your life by making it simpler. Some jump in without much planning to change. Jen Heath hates her life. She is working two jobs to afford her condo but can't enjoy being home in it.

Jen decides to sale her condo and leave big city behind. She is renting a cottage right outside of Icicle Falls. Her land lord is good looking firefighter did help sway her mind. She wants to enjoy friends, make bread & garden and work part time.

Jen sister Toni is afraid she is loosing her family. They are so connected to their phones, computer. Toni thought her sister crazy to want to move without first finding a job. She comes to love Icicle Falls.

Some are afraid they are on the path to being a hoarder and tries to de junk her house. I am trying that right now it is harder to do.

Garrett Armstrong is renting his cottage for the first time. The more he sees of Jen the more he thinks she is like his ex-wife and a flake. He is dating a cop instead. He is a firefighter. He is raising his 5 year old son.

Lots of good friends, lots of struggles, drama and action. You care for the characters and want things to workout for them. I wanted to also go to the chocolate festival in town. It sounded yummy. It is also a clean read.

I was given this ebook to read and in return agreed to give a honest review of it.

My review: Safe Harbor by Marie Ferrarella (Ladera by the Sea)

4 STARS

This is the first book of Ladera by the Sea that I have read and would love to read the first two books of the series. Their are four daughters and their father that live and work the family Inn right on the ocean. This is Stevi Roman story. Stevi just graduated from College in art. She is dreaming to go away. As she is jogging on the beach she finds a man hurt.

Mike Ryan has been shot and washed up on the beach. He is face down on the beach with a gun shot. All he says don't call police. When Mike wakes up he does not tell anyone how he was shot. He fakes loss of memory.

Stevi decides to trust him so she gets help to sneak him in his room. When she is coming up with excuses to tell her father she is funny.

This is a charming story. It is a sweet story with drama, suspense and some action but mostly it is a look at life at the inn. I have to admit I loved the humor in the book. It is a clean read too.

The setting is a family inn on the California coast. I would love to stay their. Two of the sisters are now married and live in the Inn with their husbands.

I enjoyed getting to know the different characters at the inn. They all believe in helping others when they can.

fast read at 165 pages.

My Review:Death in Perspective (A Cherry Tucker Mystery, #4) by Larissa Reinhart

4 STARS

I like the characters especially Cherry Tucker. I want things to go her way all the time. She gets into so much trouble trying to help. I want things to work out for her and Luke. Their families have been feuding for years. No one except them want things to work.

Cherry Tucker is an artist. She also gets involved trying to figure out mysteries. She does not make much. Her new roommate is her ex-husband.

Luke Harper is a deputy working for Cherry's Uncle Will. Luke has a nice girl stalking him. His cousin hates Cherry. Luke hates that Cherry gets involved in dangerous things she shouldn't. He wants to get back with Cherry.

Cherry is hired to help with scenery at a local private school. The drama teacher also wants her to find out who is cyber bullying him and other teachers. Also he wants Max to give to the school.

A teacher commits suicide but Cherry does not buy it. She is finding out a lot of secrets at the school.

Lots of drama at the school, also around Cherry and Luke's romance. Cherry has a lot of drama in her family lives right now to.

Cherry reminds me a little like Charlie Brown were nothing goes right for her. Her Lucy is Shawna Luke's step cousin.

There is a lot of snooping, spying and action that gets Cherry in dangerous situations.

I can't wait to see what happens next in Cherry's life and who ends up with whom.

My review: Reluctant Witness (A Roaring Kill Mystery Book 1) by Sara M. Barton

5 stars

First I have to say I love the cover, since I have not liked some of her covers in past.

I was given this ebook from Sara but was having trouble with my Nook so I went and bought a copy for my kindle because I have wanted to read it for awhile. All the opinions are all mine.

Reluctant Witness at 466 pages is a longer book than most of Sara's other books, but I was sorry when I had finished because I wanted to see more of these characters. I could see that this could go on in many directions.

I really liked Marigold Flowers. She has gone through so much and she did not give up. She cared for those around her. I so wanted to see things work out for her.

Their were a lot of heroes who was doing their best to protect Marigold and were willing to put their lives on the line. You had U.S. Marshalls, Highway patrolman, FBI Agents and a lot of retired agents.

I really liked Jeff and wanted to see him a lot more. He makes me wonder at the authors of some of the books I have read. Maybe their description of themselves is off? We get to a little about the book Jeff wrote and I am sure it was all fiction right.
We also got to read part of a book his mother wrote.

The suspense was good. Never new what was going on around Marigold. Why were people trying to kidnap her? Who was trying to take out her witness protection marshals.

I would have a real hard time remembering different names and backgrounds that people in Witness protection need to do.

I like the different relationships between the characters have. They cared about each other and want to keep the innocent safe.
I like how they teased each other.

The setting for the book was all over from New York, FL, CA and HI. They were on the move a lot to keep her safe while they figured out what was going on.

I like novels of Sara M. Barton and will continue to read her books in the future.

My Review: Until We Touch by Susan Mallery

4 STARS

Love the town of Fool's Gold. Love the characters. Love the relationships with each other. Love to see old familiar characters again from previous books. Also wonder who will be the next couple to have a story. Love how there are always community projects that help someone or something.

Don't like the love scenes. (I admit skipping over the scenes). Don't care that their is always a scene when one of the couple breaks off because afraid of commitment or falling in love. Friends gather and bash the one person.

The setting is the town of Fool's Gold, California. The home of the most festivals.

Jack McGarry is one of four of the owners of Score. A publicity firm. He was a former quarterback professionally. He has money. He does not like to get to close to anyone.

Larissa Owens is Jack's assistant. She is also a massage therapist. Who gives massages to the four owners. She also gets involved is rescuing lots of animals or people. She uses Jack's money and property to help others.

Larissa's mom tells Jack to fire Larissa because she is in love with him. She wants Larissa to move back and get over Jack so she can find someone to marry and give her grandchildren.

Since that conversation both Jack and Larissa start looking at their relationship differently. So it started changing.

Makes for a great book to escape into.

My Review: Wild Iris Ridge by Raeanne Thayne (Hope's Crossing #7)

4 STARS

I enjoy Hope's Crossing series. The secondary characters are old friends that we can catch up on their lives. The main characters are likeable.

Lucy has come to Hope's Crossing at a time in her life is in a crisis. She has been left a big house and she is thinking of turning it into a bed and breakfast.

Lucy years ago had shared one kiss with Brendan. Then Brendan started dating her best friend. Since then she has tried to stay away from him. But she loves his children. So she is not happy to run into him with just being in town for a short time.

Brendan Caine is the fire chief. He has been a widower for two years. He has two cute children. His late wife was Lucy's cousin and best friend. He is not ready to start dating. He can not stop thinking about Lucy though he keeps trying to stay away from her.

Carter Caine is a cute five year old. Who is active.

Faith Caine is a nine year old. She loves to read.

It even has cute animals that are loveable and make you want to take them home with you.

The setting is beautiful sounding and makes me want to go for a walk in the mountains. Hope Crossing is in Colorado right close to the mountains.

I liked the drama it was not drastic but easy to read and care about the characters. I really like how the town has a day of service and every year more people get involved to help each other and the town.

I was given this ebook to read and agreed to give honest review of it in return by Net Galley and Harlequin.

#1 New York Times bestselling author Robyn Carr returns to Thunder Point with an uplifting story about overcoming loss and finding unexpected love

Peyton Lacoumette considers herself entirely out of the dating scene. She's already been burned by a man with kids, and she's come to Thunder Point determined not to repeat past mistakes. My Review: The Promise by Robyn Carr

4 STARS

I like Thunder Point. It is a small beach town in Oregon. The characters are old friends. There are some newcomers too. I want to read more about the characters. The scenery sounds wonderful. I would visit it.
I like how people help others with what they can.

Peyton Lacoumette is new to Thunder Point. Peyton just came from a broken relationship both personal and professional. She is a physician's assistant. She agrees to stay for three months and work at the clinic as she decides what she wants next.

Dr. Scott Grant has opened a small clinic in Thunder Point. He wants to make a difference in peoples lives. He is also a single father with two adorable children. He will never be rich.

This book is set in Thunder Point but a lot of the story happens away from it too. Which is a little different.

I really like Peyton's family. I hope we get to see more of them in the future too. It was fascinating to hear about life on her family's farm and the different recipes her mom fixed.

We get to see what the others in previous books are up to now. All the different characters and the drama of life makes a very well rounded story that brings me back to Thunder Point again and again.

One scene in the book that I would love to do some day but doubt I can do. Is at night in the ocean a bunch of teenagers are laying on their long boards and flashlights looking down into the ocean and see all the life in the ocean.

Peyton has in her life two doctors that are single parents. They are the opposite to each other in most ways.
How they parent are vastly different. Scott is involved in his children's lives. He gives back to the community more than just money.

There was a few love scenes that I skipped over.

I really enjoy the drama in the characters lives and relationships and will want to read more books in the Thunder Point series in the future.

The Tea Shop on Lavender Lane by Sheila Roberts (Life in Icicle Falls #5)

When it comes to men, sisters don't share!

And she's not pleased.

Wait! Isn't Cecily seeing Luke Goodman? He's a widower with an adorable little girl, and yes, Cecily does care about him. But Todd's the one who sends her zing-o-meter off the charts. So now what? Should you have to choose between your sister and the man you love (or think you love)?

My Review: The Tea Shop on Lavender Lane by Sheila Roberts (Life in Icicle Falls #5)

3 STARS

This story was hard to connect with any of the characters. As a romance book to me it was not good. As a story about sisters living in a small town it works.

Bailey's character was good when she was excited about food but other times she was too bratty and whiney. It was all about her. After some bad publicity her business of catering fails and she comes back to her hometown. Bailey is the youngest of three sisters.

Cecily was undecided about what she wanted. She was attracted to two guys. At first I was rooting for her. Cecily is ready to get married and have a family. She works for the family chocolate business. She is the middle sister.

Samantha is the oldest sister and she saved the family business. She is bossy and married.

Todd I was liking than not so much. Todd is good looking not ready to settle down. He owns the local bar.

Luke was my favorite but we did not see much of him as I would like. He is a widower with a little girl. He works for the Chocolate factory.

The ending felt too rushed. Like parts of it were cut to make the book fit. I would have liked this to be two books and have more of the couple starring in it.

The setting for this book is a small tourist town of Icicle Falls. If you go to the falls and see a ghost bride than you will get married.

It was definitely full of drama, relationships, small town life. It was a clean read.

I usually enjoy reading books by Sheila Roberts but this was my least liked book that I have read of hers. I will read more from her in the future.

I was given this ebook to read and in return asked to give honest review of it by Netgalley and Harlequin.

My review: Unholy Matrimony by Peg Cochran (A Lucille Mystery #2)

4 STARS

Unholy Matrimony is a fun cozy mystery. The characters are likable, funny and human. The drama is good. Don't see to much of the police work. is a clean read.

This is the second book of the series. I felt it was fine as a stand alone story. It is entertaining cozy.

Lucille Mazzarella is determined her daughter Bernadette, gets married before she has her baby. She does not give up easy. She is a middle age mother. She does work part time for the church.

Frankie has been turning away from Lucille. Two of his relatives are living with them after their house burned down.

Flo is Lucille good friend. She is single and her son is Bernadette's baby's father.

Taylor is the groom. His parents are wealthy and want him married.

The suspense of the story was good. Really did not know who killed them till the reveal. I still have a couple of questions not answered but not that big of deal.

Some of the scenes you just have to laugh at. Especially the car chase to the airport. It makes for a fun light read.

I have not read Peg Cochran book before, but I would pick up another of her books now.

I was given this ebook to read and in return agreed to give honest review of it. Received the ebook through Net Galley.

My Review:The Baffled Beatlemaniac Caper

4 STARS

This is the first book in the Sandy Fairfax Teen Idol Mysteries series. I did not realize that at first and was getting confused. I had already read
The Sinister Sitcom Caper. So I was confused that they were introducing stuff that I already knew about.

I liked The Baffled Beatlemaniac Caper. I would recommend reading them in order but they can stand alone.

I liked the characters. Sandy Fairfax seems like a real tv star. I liked all the references to Hardy boys Mysteries, Donny Osmond and Beatles. I admit to living through those days.

Sandy Fairfax was a tv character that solved mysteries. He also sang. He was on a different network and up against the Hardy boys. Like some stars he did drugs and drank to much.

Ernest has not worked for five years. He stopped drinking the day before this book started. His ex-wife will not let him see his kids till he stops drinking and is working again. He is broke or close to it. So he agrees to go to a Beatle convention. Ringo was a guest star on his detective tv show.

Bunny is a big fan of Sandy Fairfax. She is one of the sponsers for this convention. It is run on a shoe string. It is the first one in Evansville, Indiana.

Their is a Beatle tribute concert. One of the band members turns up dead. Ernest finds the body and is a suspect.

Their is a lot of trivia about the sixties, Beatles. Lots of humor, action, drama and murder mystery. It is also a clean read. It hits the right tones to be believable convention. Makes me want to go to one.

The story mostly takes place in a couple of days at the motel where the convention is staying in Evansville, Indiana.

This is a fun mystery series. I have enjoyed both books but I like Baffled Beatlemaniac Caper best. I look forward to reading more of this series.

I was given this ebook to read and in return agreed to give honest review of it.

Book excerpt: I turned to face the formidable flatfoot as Bunny slipped away. Braxton pounded questions at me as I rubbed my bloodshot eyes. I couldn’t concentrate.

“Look, detective, I’m exhausted. I’ve had a long day that started before sunrise three time zones ago.” I glanced at my wristwatch: nearly 1 a.m. Pacific or Central time? I couldn’t remember if I had reset my watch after my flight landed. “Can this wait until tomorrow? I mean, later today? The body can’t get any more dead than it is now.”

Braxton glowered at me so hard that if looks could kill, he’d have a second stiff on the floor. “You claim the victim was still alive when you came in the room?”

“Yes, sir.”

“Did the victim do or say anything that might identify the murderer?”

“Yes, sir.”

Braxton waited, his pen poised over his notebook page. “Well? What was it?”

I licked my dry lips. I felt terribly thirsty. I knew Braxton would hate my answer.

“He said, ‘Rocky Raccoon.’”

Sure enough, he frowned at me. “Is that a joke?”

“No, sir. That’s exactly what he said.”

“Is that the name of the murderer? An animal? What’s a Rocky Raccoon?”

“It’s a song.” Bunny stepped up beside us as she closed the zipper on the pouch that hung from her waist. “By John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Paul sings lead. It’s on disc one, side two, track five of The Beatles’ 1968 double record, ‘White Album,’ which isn’t the name, but everyone calls it that because it was issued in a plain white cover with no artwork. I have a 1978 French import reissue with the records in white vinyl.”

Braxton stared at her, too stunned to take notes, but I took it in stride. Fans possess encyclopedia knowledge of the minutest trivia.

“Thanks Bunny,” I said. “Please go to your room now. Everything will be all right.”

Bunny nodded and plodded toward the elevator. By now the crowd of investigators had cleared out, leaving the hallway eerily silent. A cop shut the door to the tainted room and taped yellow “do not cross” tape across the doorway, which was guaranteed to attract more attention from the guests than simply locking the door.

“That’s enough for now.” Braxton tucked his little black book into his shirt pocket. I nearly leapt for joy at the thought he might finally leave me alone until he added, “But don’t leave town.”

“What do you mean, don’t leave town? In a few hours I’m booked on a flight back to Los Angeles.”

“Why are you in such a hurry to leave?”

“No reason, I . . .”

“All right then. Stay put.”

“What am I supposed to do in the meantime?”

He gestured at the walls around us. “This is a hotel. You’ve got a place to sleep.” With that he darted for the elevator before I could slip in a parting shot.

My review: The Devaney Brothers: Ryan and Sean: Ryan's Place\Sean's Reckoning (The Devaneys) by Sherryl Woods

4 STARS

This is a reprint and combined two stories. This is Ryan and Sean's story. When Ryan was only 8 they came home for school to empty apartment. Their parents took their twin brothers and left them. They don't know why they were left. Then different foster families.
They all have issues of trust in family and love.

Ryan felt guilty that he could not save his brothers from being separated. Ryan is a very giving person. Ryan owns a Irish Pub in Boston.

Maggie O'Brien comes in the pub Thanksgiving Eve. She needs help getting home with a car full of food. Maggie finds herself attracted to Ryan. She decides to find out where it could go. She decides to chase Ryan.

Maggie helps Ryan to search for his family.I really liked the characters. I wonder why there parents abandoned them. Too bad the kids have scars and lack of trust and love.

Sean's story

He is a firefighter. He never plans of falling in love and having a family. While watching for hot spots of apartment building that had just burned up. He catches a little boy climbing into the fire truck. Sean goes and get him.

Deanna Blackwell little boy got away from Ruby his baby sitter. Deanna Blackwell just lost everything she had except for her son.
Her ex-husband left her before the baby was born. She is working two jobs to take care of herself and son.

Because of their past neither trust anyone. They are afraid of the future.

Their are a lot of drama, lack of trust and love. Their are plenty of humor scenes, and some sex scenes.

The story is good and draws you into their lives and wanting them to find out the answers to their past.

My Review: Invincible by Diana Palmer

4 STARS

This is a familiar setting Jacobs County, Texas, with a lot of old familiar characters in the background. I probably did not even recognize some familiar names, but a lot I did. It had some surprises a long the way too.

The heroine Carlie Blair is a woman of faith and a virgin. She is a secretary to Cash Grier. Her father is a preacher who has a secret past. Carlie drives a old truck, and is always forgetting her cell phone. She never dates. She loves military history and gaming.

Carson is a Lakota Sioux. A medic. He dates beautiful fast women. He is helping to watch over Carlie and her father. Carson wants Carlie but he does not do commitments. Everyone keeps telling Carson to not hurt Carlie.

Someone is either after Carlie or her father. They know a contract has been taken out but not why or for who.

There are some characters that I really liked in the end that surprised me. It pays to be nice and friendly to everyone. I don't want to ruin the plot by saying too much.

If you are one of the millions of readers who like Diana Palmer you will enjoy seeing old friends and make new ones along the way. Come and read Invincible and see what friends you recognize.

About the author:

David A. Christensen’s love and enthusiasm for being a missionary was sparked in a missionary preparation class at Ricks College in the late 60s. His love and testimony for the Book of Mormon was ignited in a religion class the following semester. These two classes combined as a new beginning for what would one day become not only a passion but also the centerpiece of his professional contribution in the Church Education System and at Brigham Young University-Idaho. My Review:Power in Prayer: 31 Teachings to Strengthen Our Connection with Heaven by David Christensen

5 STARS

I needed this reminder about Prayer. It is full of scriptures, quotes and examples in answer to Prayer. I know that while I was reading this book I stopped to pray. I also wrote it in my calendar to remind me.

It reminds you what to pray for. Pray always, pray for others, pray for all your blessings, not to pray by rote but each prayer to be more meaningful. Too remember to listen for answers.

I have had many prayers answered. Some even before I was finished with the prayer. I have also said prayers in weird places, I have also fallen asleep while praying. Forgotten to say prayers.

I have tried to say a prayer just for all the things I am grateful for without asking for help of any kind. So far I need to work on that more.

I don't know of any principle that he has said is new, but it sure reminded me of things I can do to improve my communication with Heavenly Father.

I also want to go buy some length of chains for my key rings.

My review: The Rebel Princess by Janice Sperry

5 STARS

I loved The Rebel Princess. It takes the fairy-tales we know and shakes them up. It is creative, lovable characters, fun. I laughed and gagged along the way.

Raven Perilous is a princess but her father's side is evil. She has perfect hair all the time, and cute. She wants to be mean.
She has a family curse, lives in a magical house. Raven has been preparing to be able to rescue herself. She does not want a Prince to rescue her.

Edgar is Raven's twin brother. He gets to do magic.

They go to middle school. One day Prince Charming shows up at school. He is the enemy. He recognizes her evil Perilous side. But not her princess side. Then things get out of control.

The setting is the real world where her parents escaped too. Also the Fairy-tale land. You never know who you will run into next.

I enjoyed reading The Rebel Princess. It is charming story with dragons, knights, witches and fairy god-mothers.

Any age can enjoy reading this story. It has something for everyone.

I would read other books by Janice Sperry based on The Rebel Princess.

I was given this book to read for the purpose of reviewing it and being part of its blog tour.

EXCERPT:

“Not the way we planned,” I grumbled.

“Raven would have fallen if I hadn’t grabbed her,” Charming told his knees. As if dragging me off the wall fixed anything.

“I was strapped in. There was no danger.”

Amy clapped her hands and little sparks erupted around her. “What? He saved you? You have to kiss him, and you can live happily . . .”

I put my hand over her mouth before she could finish.

“I would rather kiss a rat.”

Something rustled in a distant, dark corner, and the air filled with a swampy fog. Blue sparks swirled around us, picking up speed and blurring in the murky air. When the fog cleared, Prince Charming was gone, and in his place sat a white rat.

“I take it back,” I said. “I would rather not kiss a rat. Ew.”

My Review: Wedding at Cardwell Ranch by B.J. Daniels

4 STARS

I admit to liking B.J. Daniels stories. I like the Cardwells. The suspense was good, I was not sure who the guilty party was till it was revealed. I like the characters. Ford and Nat are cute together. They steal the show. There was a love scene that I skipped over.

Jackson Cardwell is a divorced father of Ford. He has come for his brother's wedding and to see where their new restraint will be. He is not looking for romance.

Allie Taylor is the wedding planner. Her husband disappeared 8 months ago. She is afraid that she might be loosing her mind or is someone playing tricks on her? Her little girl will start school this year. Allie really has no family to turn to. No one believes her when she is the only one seeing things.

Natalie is cute. She likes Ford and likes the animals at Cardwell Ranch. She is even being taught to ride horses.

Jackson believes Allie in fact he witnessed a few things and gives her faith in herself. That someone is really playing games with her. He wants to help her find out who is doing it. Is her husband really alive and faking his death?

I like how Jackson steps up and helps her before he really knows her. He sees someone scared and wants to help her.
I like seeing the characters from previous books show up and being part of the story. I also wonder who is next to fall in love.

The setting is in Montana at Cardwell ranch and surrounding area. The Cardwell's from Texas are finding romance in Montana.

The story was believable and kept me guessing with all the twists and turns the story took. Did not put the book down till I had finished it.

I was given this ebook to read and in return agreed to give honest review of it by Netgalley.

Review: Description: Million-Dollar Maverick by Christine Rimmer

3 Stars

Wow I really like Nate now. Changed my opinion on Nate just like he changed a lot of people in Rust Creek. I was surprised how Christine made Nate change and how believable it is. We learn more about Nate's past and the struggle he has made this past year. It was not easy for Nate to make the changes and it shows.

Callie Kennedy is a nurse who moved into Rust Creek. Nate rescued her first day almost to Rust Creek. Nate does not believe she will stay after her first winter in Rust Creek. Callie has made friends in Rust Creek and it is what she has wanted to have for a long time.

There are a lot of old friends from previous books who make a appearance in Million-Dollar Maverick. It is fun to get to see them and what they are up to now.

Nate is hiding that he won a fortune from lottery win. He is helping those in Rust creek through a trust so no one will know. Even his family doesn't know. He has told them that some investments have really done well. Nate is helping because he can. He is keeping it a secret so people can accept without thinking they owe him anything.

That has always been a fantasy of mine to have loads of money that you can help people in secret and make a big difference.

I really like the plot, characters and setting. Did not like all the love scenes. I admit that I skipped over them.

I was given this ebook to read and in return agree to give honest review of it by Netgalley and Harlequin.
