Description

Using his millions, and fueled by the fear of losing his wife, Donovan and company cut a swath through Austria and Hungary. My review:Pegasus Down by Philip Donlay (Donovan Nash Thrillers#6)

4 STARS

This is my first Donovan Nash thriller that I have read but it won't be the last.  I liked it so much I have already bought the first of the series.  It is a nail biter till the end.  Lots of drama, mystery, action and strong characters made it a book I hated to put down.

Donovan Nash has a big secret that only a few people know.  As a new reader I did not know what secrets he hid for awhile.  He is married and has one little girl that he loves.  He has some really good friends and co-workers. He works with Eco-Watch

Dr. Lauren McKenna  is on a job for the CIA when the plane she is on crashes into water.  She is able to get out of the plane and get her old friend out to.  Lauren has no idea where she is and if anyone will find her.  She is smart, talented, and a strong female character.  She does not know if she will ever see her husband and daughter again. Lauren actually works for DIA.

Dr. Daniel Pope and Lauren knew each other at MIT years ago.  He went to CIA and asked for help and he wanted Lauren to bring him in.  He was kidnapped and forced to work on secret stealth plane for someone who had a nuclear device.

Someone wants to stop Lauren and Daniel.  There are different groups trying to find them.  The US goverment is not going to help.  Donovan is determined that he will find his wife and bring her back at no matter the cost.  Even is he has to reveal his secrets to the world.

I liked that there were a few strong female characters in this book.  There is a lot of violence and chases, explosions as everyone races to catch Lauren if she still alive.  This is a well told story.

The setting is all over.  Most of the chases is in the Soviet Union countries.

I was given this ebook to read by NetGalley and Oceanview Publishing.  In return I agreed to give a honest review of Pegasus Down.

My review Private Bodyguard  by Tyler Anne Snell

4 stars

Lots of mystery, suspense, action, humor and romance.  The characters are ones I would like to see again.  I really like Orion business.

Darling Smith is a P.I..  She was arrested by her ex-boyfriend and before she is out of jail another ex shows up.  Darling is smart, does not give up and looks harmless.

Oliver Quinn's  works for Orion Security.  He is a leader of a three man team that has come to protect Millionair when he comes to town.  He hears that someone was arrested on the property that day and goes to jail.  He finds his ex Darling in jail.

Darling finds a body at a motel right after getting out of jail.  Oliver's client was last seen there with the victim.

Darling is being watched.  She keeps getting information and warnings.  Both her ex's want her kept safe.
I like the banter between the characters.
It is set in a small town in Maine in winter.

I would read more books in Orion security series.

My review: The Perfectly Proper Paranormal Museum by Kirsten Weiss

4 STARS

I thought it was a good new cozy series.  I would like to read more about the museum and the characters.    It was full of drama, plenty of suspects, murder and interesting facts from the museum.
It is also a clean read.

Maddie Kosloski moved back to her hometown after she was fired.  She lives above her Aunt's garage cheaply.  Her friend Adele Nakamoto tries to convince her to run the museum.  She is remodeling the other half of the building into a tea room.  They go to take a look at it late that night and find a dead body Christy.

Maddie agrees to take care of the museum for right now for Adele. Especially when the cops think they have something to do with the murder.  Adele does have motive and it is her building.  One of the cops bullied Maddie during high school.

Adele was given the building as a engagement gift from her father.  She does not want to run the museum but does not want to close it.  Her fiance Michael was caught having sex in the backseat of a car with Christy Huntington.

I like how Maddie keeps getting drawn into a murder generations ago.  Would have liked to see more of that closing of the case more in detail.

Maddie has no love life but she does meet a few guys and flirts with. She is having a hard time finding a job and keeps coming up for ways to improve the museum.  Something keeps happening at the Paranormal Museum.

I did not want to put the book down till I had finished reading it.

This is the first book I have read by Kirsten Weiss but I don't think it will be the last one of hers that I will read.

I was given this ebook to read by NetGalley and Midnight Ink.  In return I agreed to give a honest review of The Perfectly Proper Paranormal Museum.

My review: Web of Shadow by Susan Sleeman (Agents Under Fire #2)

4 STARS

Web of Shadows is the second book in the Agents Under Fire series.  It is full of drama, suspense, action , with strong female characters. It does have some violence in it but a clean read.

Nina Brandt works with two other female FBI Agents.  They are good friends and support each other.  Nina ex-boyfriend is Navy SEAL Quinn Stone.  They broke up a year ago when he chose to stay a Seal.

Now Quinn finds his younger brother in big trouble and has to go ask Nina for help. Ty has hacked into the Do Not Fly list and has detail list of how he did it on his computer that was then stolen.

Nina is willing to help Ty all she can while keeping the country as safe as she can.  Both Quinn and Nina are determined to keep their vows to the Country.

Ex-con has found the computer with the hack.  He plans to sell the list and he leaves a trail that has Nina look like the guilty party and she is a traitor.

I liked Quinn and how he wants to protect his younger brother and Nina too.  Quinn comes to understand himself better.  Nina also grows and is determined to change too.

I did not want to put the book down.  I can't wait to see what happens next in the third book.

I was given this ebook to read for free in exchange for giving a honest review of Web of Shadow.

Rookie K-9 Unit: These lawmen solve the toughest cases with the help of their brave canine partners.

My review: Protect and Serve by Terri Reed (Rookie K-9 Unit #1)

4 Stars

Protect and Serve is the first book in a new series.  The series follow new K-9 officers.  The head of the K-9 training center is killed. Another trainer is being stalked and attacked by her twin brother.  Their is another murder and two other past rookies death ruled a accident.  They are assigned to help look into these deaths and accidents.

Gina Perry comes home and finds her twin has found her and still wants her dead.  Gina is a trainer of the dogs and helps train dogs and police officers to become K-9.  She is single.
Gina runs for her life to the K-9 center for help and finds her boss dead.

Shane West and his German shepherd Bella are out walking when Bella hears something and runs to the K-9 center.  Shane finds Veronica dead body and Gina hiding.

There is a lot going on in this book. Action, romance, murder and suspense.  It is a clean read.  Does mention prayer and sometimes we don't think we get answers when we are told no or not yet. It fits into the story very well.

I like that Shane has some weakness that he overcomes.  I find that he is without his gun a lot while he is supposed to be protecting Gina.

I want to read the other books in the series and see who is behind the different crimes.

The setting is a small town of Desert Valley close by Flagstaff, Arizona.

I was given this ebook Protect and serve to read for free for the purpose of giving a honest reserve by NetGalley and Harlequin.

My review:  Beauty and the Clockwork Beast by Nancy Campbell Allen

5 STARS

This classic telling has romance beyond looks, courage to chase ghosts, vampires and werewolves.  Someone is haunting the Manor, blackmailing the beast, there has been two murders in the family this year and now someone is making Kate ill.

I love the Beauty character.  She is strong willed, courage, caring and hard working. Lucy looks beyond a pretty or beastly face and sees the person inside. Lucy comes to see if she can help her cousin Kate.  Who is sick, scared and a newly wed.

The beast is the Duke of Blackwell Manor.  Miles has secrets and a temper.  Everyone keeps looking at his scar on his face.  His bride of one month died and his sister the next day. Miles goes to his hunting lodge every month by himself for a few days.

I enjoyed reading Beauty and the Clockwork Beast.  Hated to put the book down.  You never knew what would happen next.

The setting for the book is Steampunk England.  It makes for a different world that I would like to see more of.

My review: Hawaii Five Uh-Oh! by Jill Marie Landis  (The Tiki Goddess Mystery Series#5)

4 STARS

Em  and the Hula Maidens are back with mystery, laughter, &  fun characters.  I was excited to see a new Tiki Goddess mystery out. Very entertaining.

Kiki has spent the last six weeks in a hospital for the trauma of being attacked by a monkey who pulled out some of her hair.  She is scared and not herself.

The Hula Maidens are not the same without Kiki leading them.  Most of the ladies are over 60 and love to dance the Hula.  They are not natives either.  They are a riot and accident prone.  They perform at the Tiki Goddess bar.

Em has taken over managing the Tiki Goddess from her Uncle Louie who still makes up special drinks.  She is dating Rolland the detective/ fire dancer.  They also cater parties.

While everyone is working the party for a new neighbor is robbed of two famous paintings worth 30 million dollars.  A security guard is killed.  Kiki thinks if they solve the art theft crime she will get her mojo back.
Kauai, Hawaii is the setting for Hawaii five Uh-Oh!

This is a clean read.  Lots of drinking and recipes for some special drinks in the back of the book.

I like this series, it is fun, good mystery and characters that you want to see again and again.

My review: Colton's Surprise Heir by Addison Fox

4 Stars

Lots of mystery.  A couple of the mysteries carry over for the series. It does a good job making me want to find out just who is the killer. Where is Josie? and where is Ethan's mother buried.

This is one series that you will want to read in order so the mystery stays a mystery till revealed.

Ethan Colton comes from a big family.  His father is in jail because he was a serial killer and Ethan at seven testified against him when he found his mother's body.  Ethan does not plan to have kids because he does not want to pass down his genes.

Lizzie Conner was raised in foster care and one of her foster sister was Ethan's sister.Josie.  Lizzie shows up at his ranch six months pregnant and someone is stalking her. Lizzie has liked Ethan since she was very young and was glad to run into him six months ago.

I was given this ebook from NetGalley and Harlequin to read for the purpose of giving a honest review.

My review: Fortune's Special Delivery by Michelle Major  (The Fortunes of Texas: All Fortune's Chi)

3 Stars

Another Fortune this time it is Charles Fortune Chesterfield from England and he finds that he has a baby son from a one night stand a year ago.  I like Charles and how he takes to fatherhood right off.

Alice Meyers decides too inform Charles about Finn when she knows he is back in town.  She does not want anything from him and is surprised when he wants to be a father.

I love the scene when Charles goes to tell her how he feels.  It is funny and serious. It works too.

The setting is Austin, Texas modern times.

You do see some old familiar characters from previous books. I would have liked more of the family scenes.

There is a few love scenes but easy to skim over if wanted.

Fortune's Special Delivery is cute and a fast entertaining read.  I will look forward to reading more from Michelle Major.
