My review: Dressed to Kill by Lynn Cahoon (A Tourist Trap Mystery #4)

This is the fourth book in the Tourist Trap Mystery.  I have enjoyed reading all four books in the series.  It is a clean cozy read. 

 I like Jill Gardner.  She is the owner of Coffee, Books and More.  She is single. Her boyfriend is local police detective Greg King.  Jill is curious and likes to solve murders.  Greg is not happy about her sticking her nose in his cases.

The murder happens at the practice for a murder mystery fund raiser.  The main suspect is Greg's ex-wife and new business owner Sherry.

Jill does not get along with her but convinced she is innocent.

Sherry wants Greg back after her boyfriend is murdered.

Kent is murdered and we find out that he has a lot of girl friends, and other things he is involved in.  Leaves lot of suspects.

The setting is South Cove, CA a small beach town along the coast.  I like the regulars characters that live in South Cove.

I look forward to reading more books in the Tourist Trap mystery.

My review: Second Chance Hero by Winnie Griggs (Texas Grooms #6)

I like this series.  Second Chance Hero is a well told story that draws you right into it.  This is the sixth book in the Texas Grooms series.  I really liked Nate and Joy's characters especially. 

Nate Cooper is new to Turnabout Texas.  He has a past he is ashamed of.  Nate has opened his own store making saddles, bridles and other leather goods.  He has a dog named beans.  He would be more honest about his past but does not want others to figure out that his where he met his friend.

Verity Leggett is a widow raising Joy a cute little girl.  Verity makes hats and helps her Uncle out. Verity is such a mix of capable assistant to her Uncle, mother or in the choir but then in other ways she is afraid to take risks.

Joy is cute. She loves animals and carries her doll every where with her.  She is five years old.

Nate gets hurt saving Joy from being run over by a wagon.  He does not want to stay at the Doctor's clinic over night.  He keeps telling Verity that he is no hero.

The setting is Turnabout, Texas April 1897

There is plenty of drama, interesting characters, lots of relationships and a clean read.  It makes you want to come and read some more about Turnabout and see what they are up to now.

My review:  Threads of Evidence by Lea Wait (Mainely Needlepoint #2)

It was a good cozy mystery.  A clean read.  Likeable characters. A cold case 45 years old. Lots of drama, & mystery.

Mainely Needlepointers are now led by Angie Curtis.  She picks up orders and take members their supplies and finished projects.  Angie is single and back home about six months.

Angie and Sarah were asked to go to a oldVictorian mansion, known as "Aurora, help them decide what can be restored and what to throw away and other to sale.  Angie was also asked to help the new owner solve the death of her friend of 45 years ago.  Plus they had some old needle work to see if it could be saved and restored.

Skye West is a hollywood actress who is going to fix up the mansion and while doing it live in the old carriage house.  45 years ago she was there when her friend died.  She had a different name and felt like she owed her friend  Jasmine and her family it.

45 years ago Jasmine and her family summer in Aurora they had a big party with fireworks. Jasmine was found in the fountain and the police believed she was drunk and drowned.  Her mother thinks she was murdered.

The setting is Haven Harbor, Maine  a small coastal town.

At start of each chapter has sampler's of stitches of quotes  and who did them.

I like this series and look forward to reading more of it.

My review:  Last Chance Hero by Hope Ramsay

I liked Last Chance Hero, but wonder how Ross Gardiner got himself in that situation.  He wanted to date Sabina Grey since they were in school together.  He tried again when he moved into town after his divorce.  Now he is engaged to Lucy Grey, Sabina 's younger sister.  He still thinks too much about Sabina.

Sabina Grey owns her own business and is on town committees.  She sacrificed a lot for Lucy.  She made a lot of mistakes in school but she has changed always helping with one thing or another.

Ross is the fire chief the only paid fireman in town.  He has been dating Lucy for along time.

Miriam came into Sabina's shop and told her after her sister is married her soul mate will come to town.  So everyone wants Lucy and Ross to finally get married.  Lucy is not in a hurry. She has a list she wants done before marriage.

Ross buys a house to meet one of Lucy's item and it burns down.  Now they are both suspects.

This has lots of drama, small town community, one love scene, with characters you want to see happy.  You know where the story is going to end up but the journey keeps you guessing.

I like Hope Ramsay's writing style.  It is easy to get into the story and care about what is happening.

I would read more of her books.

My review: A Lawman's Justice by Delores Fossen

I liked this book to end the series on.  It was exciting, suspenseful, lots of suspects and it had some twists I did not see coming.  My questions were all answered. One short love scene, violence but not graphic, loved the plot.

Major plot of all six books was dealing with the murder of Whitt  Braddock 23 years ago.  He disappeared from his hunting cabin leaving lots of blood.  Later bone fragments were found in the area of his.  Whitt left behind 3 children and a wife.

Jewell O'Neal was arrested for it.  She left  the area at the same time leaving her DNA in the cabin.  She also left her husband and three sons behind taking her twin daughters with her.  Rumor had her having an affair with Whitt.  She came back when charges were filed against her.

Shelby Braddock is an invesigative reporter.  She has fought to have her father's cold case open.  She was the baby and closest to her father.

Seth Calder is an FBI Agent and a stepson to Jewell.  He believes her innocent.  She is the only mother he remembers.

Seth and Shelby were both found themselves in a warehouse following an anonymous calls.  They found a body with a mask of Whitt on his face.  Then they were attacked.  Someone wants them dead.
The only thing in common is the trial of Jewell but they are on opposite sides of it.

This is full of action, drama and mystery.  It is a exciting conclusion to the story. No disappointment about how it ended.

I like Delores Fossen books.  I will continue to look for books from her.

My review: The Cactus Creek Challenge by Erica Vetsch

This is a cute story.  It is funny, clean, likeable characters and situations. It is also stinky, well the outhouse scene is.  I am glad I was not there for that scene. But I would love to have been there for the rest of the book.

The Cactus Creek challenge is usually two people exchanging jobs for a month and the town votes who the winner is and the money raised by the votes gets the money for there charity.  This year they have added the contest to four people and after the people's name has been chosen a twist too the contest.  The women and men will change job with each other.

School teacher Cassie Bucknell gets to change job with Sheriff Ben Wilder.  Cassie has been in love with Ben for years, but he thinks she is still young 16.

No way does Ben think that Cassie can do his job.  He is not happy with his father talking him into entering the challenge.  Cassie is determined to be the Sheriff for the month and show Ben she is grown up.

Jenny Hart is a widow with a young daughter she has opened up a bakery.  Cassie talked her into entering with her.  She is picked to change jobs with Carl Gustafson livery stable owner.

Carl is a widower who never plans to remarry him.  He can only bake biscuits.  He does not think Jenny could take care of the animals and thinks selling bakery items will be easy.

The children were great fun characters.  They made me smile, laugh and cheer for them.

Cactus Creek, Texas March, 1888 is the setting for this story

I enjoyed reading this book and loved the ending.  Though it was sad to come to the ending.  I would love to visit Cactus Creek again.

I have liked the few stories that I have read by Erica Vetsch and will continue to look for her books in the future.
