My review: Plain Dead by Emma Miller

This is the third book in this series but first of it that  I have read.  It has lots of drama, mystery, that has interesting characters, good suspects that kept me guessing. It is a clean read too.

The main character is Rachel Mast who chose not to join the Amish faith and left to become  living English in big city.  Now Rachel has returned home to Stone Mill to run a bed & breakfast.  She lives a mix of English  and Amish. Rachel is now engaged to Detective Evan Parks, but has not told her family.

The newspaper reporter Billingsly is printing gossip and causing trouble with English and Amish people too.  Lots of people are angry with him.  The day of the murder Rachel had a loud fight with him at the Winter Frolic.

Evan gets the murder case.  One of the suspects his Rachel which causes problems with the couple.  Rachel thinks someone in the Amish is guilty or knows something.  She decides to help clear her.  One suspect is one of Rachel's guest.  One is a local artist and husband of a friend who is keeping secrets.

The setting is Stone Mill, Pennsylvania Amish community. It is the Winter Folic. A week long craft sales to bring visitors to town in winter.

I would love to read the first two books in the series.

My review:  Some Kind of Wonderful by Sarah Morgan (A Puffin Island Novel, book #2)

I liked this series. I know I have read only two books so far but both are hits with me.
I like the community of characters.  I want to see more of them.  They care about each other.  Some they welcome and some it takes years to feel it.

Brittany Forrest grew up on Puffin Island.  She was raised by her grandmother, but others on the island taught her things too.  At eighteen she married bad boy Zachary Flynn against everyone's advise.  Ten days later he left her.

Now Dr. Brittany Forrest is going home from Greece where on a dig she broke her wrist bad and a friend arranged a private plane ride home to Puffin Island.  The last plane she goes to get on the pilot is her ex-husband that she has not seen for 10 years.

Zachary Flynn now owns his own plane.  He decided to come back to Puffin Island.  Zach was abused by his parents, not treated great in foster care.  He did find people who made a difference at a camp he was sent to on Puffin Island.  he was taught to fly.

Now both are back and everyone is watching them.  Brittany is offered lots of pity and sympathy.  Which she hates.  The attraction is there still.

I liked getting slowly to know Zachary.  He still hides a lot. but I like him.

There is plenty of drama.  Too many details in love scene for me.  I know I want to see what happens next on Puffin Island.

My review: Her Mistletoe Cowboy by Marie Ferrarella (Forever Texas)

A nice simple Christmas story.  I have not read any of Forever Texas series and thought it did a good job of standing alone.  But it does let you catch up a little with a whole cast of characters.

Lots of drama with the main character Kimberly Lee.  Kim at times she wines too much, does have a lot of pride, a loner and tries to see everyone's angles.  She is from a Big City. She is a reporter.

Garrett White Eagle works with his brother Jackson to give troubled kids a second chance while working with horses.  He stands in his brothers shadow.  They are hard working and work well with the boys. His idea to have a reporter talk about their ranch so they can help more youth.

Forever, Texas is small town.  Only one place to eat in town, one bar, motel ect.  People are friendly and lookout for each other.

This is a nice fast read that leaves you feeling good.  Their is a couple of love scenes I did skip over.
Would have loved to see and learn about more of the boys staying at the ranch.

I like to read Marie Ferrarella books.

My review: Dying to Tell by TJ O'Connor (A Gumshoe Ghost Mystery #3 )

Dying to tell is third in A Gumshoe Ghost Mystery.  It can stand alone but much better if you have read the first two books.  Because a lot of the same characters alive or deceased. 

 Detective Oliver Tucker is the main character.  He is still a homicide detective and married but he is dead.  Only his wife Angel and he partner Bear can hear him. He is always being told to shut up. 

His family's past has some of the answers. His two grandfathers show up as ghosts too.

Some of the answers has to do with the past and WW11.  His grandfather shows him little bit of the past at a time.

Angel Tucker is feeling stocked by her husband.  She is trying to move on but is having problems since her husband is still around.  She loves him and doesn't want him to leave just give her some privacy. She is a history professor. She is still close to Bear and other cops.

Bear is homicide detective who seems to talk to his dead partner all the time.  He tries to hide it.

Angel is going to a meeting at the bank at 7:30 am when she is held hostage by a bank robber.  Oliver sees another ghost and leads him down to find a murdered guy in front of a secret vault. That is a secret that a lot of bank employees know.

There are a lot of bank employees that are suspect and everyone leads to a different suspect.  One of the bank managers wants to date Angel.  Oliver is jealous of him.

Has plenty of secrets, drama,  murder and suspects.  It kept me guessing.  Some of the twists I had guessed but most of them I did not see coming.   Did not want to put down till I had finished reading.

What would you do if your deceased husband was around all the time?  Has some light humor to the story.  It is also a clean read.

My Review: Look Both Ways by Carol J Perry (A Witch City Mystery#3)

Look Both Ways is the third book in the A Witch City Mysteries but the first one I have read, but not the last.  I have already bought the first book to read soon.

Lee Barrett is the main character.  She lives with her Aunt in an apartment that she is buying furniture for.  She is off for the summer.  Lee's sees vision in shiny black objects.  They can be of past or future.  She lives with a cat that has skills too.

After Lee seeing the same style oak bureau on Shopping Salem on WICH TV show she heads right over to the antique store.  The bureau has six hidden compartments just like old one that burned up. Lee bought it and arranged for it to be delivered that day.

The bureau was owned once by a women who was murdered.  Her son sold the bureau and did not know about the secret compartments.  There was stuff in all six places that was left in it.

Next day Lee decided to go back and buy dishes.  As she was going in a man rushed out and bumped against her.  Lee went in and found the owner dead.

Lee is a witness to someone at the antique and now she is seeing things in her new bureau that were giving hints.

I liked the characters, the plot works, the paranormal works great with Salem, Massachusetts setting, and it is a clean read.

I would read more books from Carol J. Perry in the future.

Small Town Justice is full of mystery, secrets, danger and love.  Jamie Lynn has come back to find out what happened to her family all those years ago.  She is sure now that something has been covered up.  

Jamie Lynn stopped by her old home and someone tries to burn her house with her in it.  She is rescued by Shane Colton.  There families had something happened when she was ten that changed both of their lives.

Never new what was going to happen next to Jamie Lynn next or someone else around her.  She was not going to leave until she finds out what really happened that night.  Was her brother framed? Are both her parents alive?

Jamie had given up on prayer when she was ten.  She learns to pray again with faith.  I like Jamie.  She is smart, caring, determined and brave.

I would read more from Valerie Hansen in the future.  It was a entertaining and clean read.

Justice Hunter is the second book in the series but stands alone. There is plenty of suspense, mystery, action drama and sex.

Lucas Curran's sister was murdered four years ago and he wants to find her killers.  So he hired onto a private detective agency that deals in cold cases.  Lucas has a lot of anger in his past.

Lucas wants to find out what Rachel Delany knows.  Rachel had an affair with his brother-in-law at the time of his sister's murder.  She never went to the police after.

Rachel has a troubled past.  She was young when her parents died and she went into foster care.  Someone has been threatening her.  She meets Lucas on a very bad day.  I like Rachel.  She has gone through a lot but keeps trying.

Has some twists you don't see coming and others I did see.  Something was always happening in the story.
