Borrowing Trouble by Stacy Finz (Nugget #6)

Description

In the beautiful mountain town of Nugget, California, staying out of the limelight is easy, but staying out of love is a bit more challenging…

Back in Los Angeles, Sloane McBride was a great police detective, but after she uncovered corruption on her own squad, the job became nearly impossible. In the bucolic hills of Nugget, she can start to imagine a life after all that, where she keeps her head down, does her work, and doesn't bother anyone. But her delicious next door neighbor isn't going to make it easy to keep to herself…

Brady Benson's wildest dreams came true in LA—but they were paired with a living nightmare. As executive chef of a searing-hot restaurant, he was lauded, adored… and then found himself caught in the sights of a lovelorn stalker. Now, laying low in Nugget, he finds his own heart ensnared by the beautiful new cop with her own reasons to start over.

Neither Sloane nor Brady came to town looking for love, but it seems to have found them. Trouble is, so have their pasts. And they'll have to stop hiding from both if they hope to come out the other side together…

My review:  Borrowing Trouble by Stacy Finz  (Nugget #6)
4 stars
I like this series.  It is a small mountain town in Nugget California.  Most of the characters are in previous books. So the books are community.  I love the characters, plot and setting.
I hate all the love scenes in detail, but can skip over them if you want to.
You can  read this as a stand alone but works better if you read the books in order.
Sloane McBride is the new police officer in town.  She used to work as a cop in LA, but when she realized some of her co-workers were bad cop she turned them in. She has been threatened by some cops.
Brady Benson's is the cook working for the hotel he does not talk about his past.  He likes to feed others.
Brady & Sloane live side by side in Rhys's duplex.  They start  a friendship right away.

Some teenagers find a body.  Sloane gets the case to work.  Both Brady and Sloan have their lives being threatened.

  • Cute romance.  I like the characters especially Brooke.  The setting was good. Pace was steady.

  • Brooke Harper finds out that she has a twin sister living with her father who she thought was dead.  Brooke leaves Las Vegas to the Colorado ranch to meet her, but finds no one home but Trent a neighbor.

  • The story really works for me the characters react in a believable way when they find out about who Brooke really is.
  • There is two love scenes

  • I would love to read a story about the other twin in the future.

  • I was given a ebook to read by Netgalley and Harlequin.  In return I agreed to give a honest review of Count on a Cowboy.

This is a reissue with a new epilogue, but I have not read them before.
This has three novellas in one story. Miles Harrington is getting married on Sanctuary Island.  He wants all three of his young friends to have the magic of Sanctuary Island.  So he has challenged them to a bet that before they are done they will find love too.  Miles has given them each a job to help with the wedding.  The one who wins the bet gets his custom helicopter and access to the roof of the Biltmore club.

Even though they are all Billionaires they have problems too.  Cooper gets to plan the honeymoon.  Leo gets to find the perfect reading for the wedding. Zane the wedding reception.

It is fun to see them fall in love and not to get there way. Lots of drama, romance as they plan there part of the wedding.  We do get to see the characters from previous books but just minor.   For shorter stories they are good. Some sex scenes. Pretty scenery. light and fun to read.

I was given this ebook from NetGalley and St. Martin's Press.  In return I agreed to give a honest review.sut

Good plot with lots of drama, romance about second chances. A couple of love scenes.

Lindsey Morales is decorator.  She helps write a blog. She repurpose items. makes things to sell on the internet.  She is having a down cycle right now.  Living with her sister.  She is decorating a old farm house for her good friend Annie.

Architect Derek Walsh is the contractor working on a old farm house for his good friend Mike.  He is divorced single father.  He wants to make amends to Lindsey for hurting her years ago. He thought he was making the right choices at the time.

Lindsey goes out of her way to not be around when Derek is working on the house.  She is still hurt by how he ended their relationship back in college.  Derek keeps trying to get Lindsey to listen to him.

While they work on the house together, they are both involved in the wedding of Annie and Mike.

This is the third book in the series.  It is easy to just read alone.  I did not feel lost in just reading the last book.  Someday I would like to be able to read the first two books of the series though.

I was given this ebook to read by NetGalley and St. Martin's Press.  In return I agreed to give a honest review of Draw Me Close.
