One Night Heir by Lucy Monroe

3 STARS

One Night Heir is a fast enjoyable read. There are love scenes which I skimmed over. A familiar plot but good. I like Gillian and Maksim. They both have been scarred by their parents about love.

Maksim is a Crown Prince and he is about to ask his girl friend to marry him when he gets her medical file and it shows that it would almost be impossible for her to become pregnant. He knows he needs to brake it off. He hopes she will do it for him. When after dinner she invites him in he wonders if it will be a good idea.
That night for the first time he doesn't use a condom for the first time.

Gillian is expecting a proposal not a goodbye. She has not read her medical file. She is heart broken and having flue that won't go away. She goes to doctor and is shocked at finding herself pregnant when just weeks ago told she could not have children. Gillian fears miscarriage so does not plan to tell anyone till after 3 month mark.

Maksim has tried to date other woman but misses Gillian. When his cousin Demyan tells him what their hacker has found out about Gillian medical appointment visit. He knows he is the father. He goes to Gillian's apartment and proposes marriage. He is shocked when she says no not yet. She will decide after the first trimester is over.

I want to read Demyan story next to see what he is really like. I like Lucy Monroe stories. Just not all the sex scenes.

Marooned with the Maverick by Christine Rimmer

4 STARS

Montana Mavericks: Rust Creek Cowboys continuity series.

Marooned with the Maverick was a good story. I liked the plot. The characters. Could have done withou love scenes. Like the town coming together to take care of each other in a crisis.

Willa for the last four years every time she saw Collin come into a room she would leave. She wanted no part of him. Willa is trying to get out to her folks ranch to check on her runaway dog and gets trapped in her car.

Collin is right behind her going to check on his family ranch while they are gone to a family wedding. He sees Willa trapped and rescues her. The river has flooded and levee breached. He parks his truck out of danger and then joins Willa headed up the hill to her family barn.
They are both soaked because of all the rain and cold flood water. The barn is full of animals taking shelter. Their are plenty of blankets in the tack room to keep them dry. First time in four years that Willa has been in the same room and talking to him.

As Willa learns from watching Collin she realizes that their is more to the man than just the family troublemaker. He saved her life from being trapped and washed away in her car. Got her warm and comfort him and helped her get to her family ranch and then check on others and help where he was needed.

They are both willing to take care of others as they rescue people and animals trapped from flood water and clean up. The story was easy to follow. Kept you interested in the community and wanting to know what happens next to the town. Has drama, humor and fun.

Outlaw Lawman The Marshals of Maverick County series book 3 by Delores Fossen

4 stars

So far I have read two books of this series and I have liked them both. Now I just need to read the book I am missing and wait for the rest of the series. The plot I liked it kept me guessing the whole way through. It started off with action and drama and did not let up till the end.

The characters most had a rough childhood. Marshall Kirby saw that the kids were getting abused at youth home. He tried to stop it and was able to adopt 5 teenagers. They all became Marshalls like him.

The director of the youth home disappeared and later his body was found. Now they are trying to figure out who helped his wife with his murder and burying the body. Some people think it was Marshall Kirby. He is very sick and fighting cancer right now. Some people think his sons would cover up for him.

Caitlyn is a investigative journalist and somebody is threatening her. They have personal information that leads her to believe it is Harlan. She breaks into his ranch house to get proof and runs into him. She tells him why she is their and she thought the threats to her from him. The last time he talked to her he threatened her because she said bad things about Marshalls and the work he did.

He is tasered and drugged. So is Caitlyn and they wake up handcuffed together in their underwear in a motel. They find their clothes and get out of their. Before they get to far from the room a masked gunman shows up looking for them and start shooting at them.

Every time things start to calm down something else happens to them or a couple of the suspects. They are even running from the law for a short time. As they figure out who wants Caitlyn dead and why. Does it have to do with who murdered the director when they were teenagers? Some answers are found out but their is a lot they still don't know. I will be looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

Lily gets involved with the town and has some good ideas to benefit those in need too. She takes the idea of a community garden and runs with it. Seeing it could help those who are in need. She has a kind heart and opens it for Isabella and her father.

It is a very close community of Bygones and I want to see how the new businesses make it and how. I will look forward to reading more stores about The Heart of Main Street.

It makes you want to reach out and help those around us.
This is the second story I believe I have read of Arlene James and I have enjoyed both of them and want to read more books from her in the future. This is a very clean book.

A Loon Lake Mystery #13

This is the second of the series I have now read and have liked both of them. I would like to read the others in the series sometime. The main characters are back plus some new ones to enjoy. The Mystery keeps you guessing almost all the way through the book. It is a clean read. Their is a lot of fishing in the story but not as much as the first one.

Sheriff Lewellyn is back. She is a strong woman character. Her hobbies are fly fishing. She loves to relax fishing especially after tough cases. She and Doc Osborne are together in a relationship now.

Doc. Osborne is a retired Dentist. He helps out once in a while if the medical examiner is busy or out of town. He did some dental identifying in the Korean War. He is a widower with two grown daughters. Loves to fish is happier than ever before.

Ray is still a fishing guide, grave digger, good cook and takes photo's sometimes for the cops. He also does some tracking for the cops. He lives next door to Doc on the lake. He has been known to poach on private lakes, smoke weed ect.

The weather has been raining heavy and some flooding in the Loon Lake area. One of the deputies on lookout for more flooding sees some meat floating in the runoff. He decides that it will just wash down the river and he would love some venison. Him and a city worker find 8 packages of unmarked packages. His first is thawed out. The second they open is a human head.

Osborne gets to call the body deceased and he recognizes the face. He never forgets faces and he has done dental work on this one.

Doc's daughter Mallery has brought her boyfriend home to meet him. She does media public relationship and ends up working for the Sheriff to help out because of the media has gathered for the big news event.

This book is a quicker read. A little grizzlier murder. Some beautiful scenery that makes you want to go fishing.

Yip/ Tuck by Sparkle Abbey

My Review 4 STARS

Pampered Pets Mystery #4)

The Pampered Pets Mystery are over the top fun with pet owners spoiling their animals. They also are about two cousins from Texas who now live in L.A. area. Melinda Langston owns a pet store with designer pet clothes while her cousin Carolina Lamont is a pet therapist. They are fighting over a pin that their grandma left her favorite granddaughter. Which of course they believe they both are. So they are always stealing it from each other.
Yip/Tuck is Melinda starting out with the pin, but not for long. It is also her turn to find a dead body and get in the way of homicide Detective Malone. The cousins keep finding dead bodies and seem to take turns every other book. They also want to find answers and clear their friends from being murder suspects.
The books are fun. They are a cozy mystery I would guess you could say. I have enjoyed reading them. I did guess where one part of the story was going to go before they discovered the secret. But I did not guess on who the murder was till close to the end.
Melinda owns Bow Wow Boutique and is hosting a designer show for pets after work for certain customers to come. She hears Tova fighting with her boyfriend Dr. Jack O'Doggle because he can't meet her at the store. He did buy her petKiki a present today over the phone for kiki to makeup for a fight they had.
The next morning Darby and Melinda were out walking their dogs and when they got to their businesses they see Dr. O'Doggle sitting on a bench in front of Bow Wow. When he doesn't answer them one of the dogs goes up to sniff and knocks him off the bench. He does not move or make a sound. Melinda thinks he is dead she bends over to check and can't find a pulse but does see a leash around his neck.
Melinda calls Detective Malone he is plugged into her cell.
He tells Melinda to stay out of his way. But she does not listen to well to him or her boyfriend. Melinda does find answers along the way.
Melinda also hired a new person to work a few hours a day. Betty is a hoot. Brings lots of laughs and fun with her.
If you like animals, funny stories and characters with their over the top personality and mystery these books would be right up your funny bone. They are also clean reads.
I look forward to the next Pampered Pets mystery.

What Not to Say When You're Running Away by Rachel John

My Review
5 STARS
The title really fits this story in many ways. This is a romantic comedy with LDS background. Not preachy just use of LDS terms. couple of scriptures. It is a funny clean story. So glad I am not dating. Both my girls are around this age though.
The characters are fun college kids going to school at Eastern Arizonia. The main 4 girl characters live in a house and across the street is the house that the guys are renting. They have a lot of activities and hang out together a lot.
The story starts out fast with drama at a singles dance. When Sara is dancing with Matt she asks, "His name" and then runs out of the building back to her room. Her friends immediately ask Matt what he did to upset their friend. Matt had no idea what happened. He just tells them he told her his name. Then Matt friends come over and join in the loud discussion. They had no idea they were living across the street from each other.
The soap opera of dating begins. They are all trying to figure out who and what they want in life at this age. Matt really liked Sara and finds out that she had dated his brother over the summer and had a bad breakup before he got home off his mission.
Matt really wants a chance to date Sara, but Sara just wants to be friends.
Sara goes out with one of his housemates who is Erik and only 17. Which turns into the wrong thing and causes more drama.
Rachel does a good job drawing the reader into the story and keeping their attention. I can tell she really captured the drama of college dating scene. So many like stories I hear from my girls. (okay right now I don't because one is on mission.)How girls are always feeding the guys. Of dating different people and liking someone who is dating someone else. I can see my daughter wearing prom dresses to cheer someone up or even to wear to singles dance or class.
I had a smile on while reading and just thinking about some scenes make me smile again. I would read another book by Rachel John in the future.
I was given this ebook from Rachel John yesterday and thought it looked good so I read it today. The review is how I honestly feel about the book.
