My review: Wolf Haven by Lindsay McKenna (Jackson Hole #9)

Wolf Haven made me understand a little more about what water boarding is like. How PTSD can effect someone for along time. It also showed the joy of seeing wolves. I wanted to hold and feed the cubs too. I could picture so well a little girl trying to herd the chicks around a yard.

Wolf Haven made me understand and feel with the characters. Skylar Pascal came home from Afghanistan with real issues and having a hard time being able to fit back into her profession, and family. Skylar has pride and wants to work and be normal again.

Grayson McCoy former SEAl has had to deal with some of the problems that Skylar is dealing with and wants to help her. Grayson is in charge of the Wolf preserve on Elk Horn Ranch. He is also the boss of Skylar. He is very attracted to Skylar.

The setting is Jackson Hole, WY on Elk Horn Ranch

I would love to visit a place like the ranch and also learn about the wolves and other animals.

Lindsay McKenna writes a lot about people with military experience and dealing with PTSD. Having a hard time coming back home to all the changes in them fitting back into life. Then I think that there are so many real soldiers that are dealing with that very issues every day.
Things that are hard for us to hear and understand, but is so much harder for those who pay the price for our freedoms and safety.

I will continue to read and get lost in Lindsay's stories.

My review: Adrenaline Rush

This has a lot more violence, kids doing stupid things. One part was rough to read. Lots of action, drama, high school relationships, danger and characters you want to see get safe.

Jeremy is Christy's handler. She feels safe with him watching her back.

This school has two group of Adrenaline kids in it. She believes it is the other group that will be kidnapped over the one she is assigned too get close to. Her spy parents don't trust her because she is so young.
I bought this book from Amazon and have read all 5 books in two days with Christy as the main character.

My Review: Protected (Watched #2) by Cindy M. Hogan

Protected takes place about a month after the ending of Watched. Christy is back home in Montana. She is getting bullied. No one of her new friends has called or emailed her. One day Alex a handsome rich guy comes to town and picks her up from school.

The next day while hiking with Alex the terrorists kidnap Christy and Alex. They have to go into witness protection.

I like how Christy gets a new look and trained to be safe for three months she is trained to become her opposite. They want her to hide how smart she is and be popular.

This is exciting, interesting, lots of drama, romance, action and violence.

I read all 5 books with Christy in two days I liked the writing, characters and story so much.

This is the first book in a trilogy and spinoff books. I actually had read her new book first and then bought the next 4 books.

This is a good story, lots of drama, action, mystery, romance and characters you want to see more of. It does have some violence, but it is good guys against bad guys.

Christy is the main character. She is 15 on a special trip to Washington D.C. She won a scholarship. She is bright and smart but socially backwards. She can remember everything she sees. She wants to change while she is gone.

Christy and the seven others of her mini group have snuck out after curfew. They sneak into a hotel too use the restrooms. Christy hears something in the vent. She climbs on toilet seat because she wants to make sure nobody is up there taking pictures. She gets one of the other girls to look with her and while they are looking down in the ballroom below they see a Senator, plus a bunch of men and see someone get killed.

The other girl faints and makes noise and soon even the boys come in and look. They get caught sneaking out but the terrorists are not sure if the kids actually saw anyone. But they are followed.

My review: Amazing Hairstyles by Becky Porter

I wish I had this book twenty years ago. Even now I would like to give my girls this book and my brother who is raising a daughter. It starts out with real basics talking supplies and terms she uses.
There are so many pictures and step by step instruction with pictures of real people getting the styles done. I love how easy it is explained. I wish I had the doll head I had as a girl to practice on right now. Because I would need lots of practice to make them look so good.

Each hairstyle has tips to make them easier or to be a little different for you to try.
I had never thought to try a seam ripper to break rubber bands out of hair. Or really what the difference between bobby pins and hair pins are.

Becky explains what hair supplies are okay to use cheaper version and when to spend a little more expensive and why.

I can see a fun idea to get this book and some of the hair supplies and put it together for a Christmas or birthday present

I love the cascading curls hairstyle and some of the different braids would be fun to wear. You can have so much fun creating different hairstyles.

My review: Jacob T. Marley by R. William Bennett

I had a tough time deciding what rating to give Jacob T. Marley. The first part of the book I struggled to read it. The fonts are small, the language and story was on the educated side. I did not like these characters and what they did. Then when Marley is dying and after his death I felt for him. I started to like him. I enjoyed the book so much more. I felt connected to him. Lets face it these characters were not supposed to be likeable at first. There had to be a change in them. With their changes I started to change how I related to them. I was thinking how much do I do or not do.

This is a drama, a Christmas story, a love story or unlove story. We all make choices daily in our lives. What choices are we making today, yesterday or tomorrow?

It has been many years since I have read A Christmas Carol. This takes that story and focus on Jacob T. Marley's ghost. What choices he made to lead him to wear chains and visits all those he did wrong in life. We see where he came from. What the T in his name represents. How he came to care for only money and business in his life. How he met Ebenezer Scrooge.

This is a book once started it doesn't take long to read. It is only 202 pages long. It does make you think.
