It starts right off into the drama, mystery.  Lots of suspects like 5,000 on the cruise ship.  This is a cozy mystery.  Lots of witty banter.  Fast paced mystery.

Scarlet Wilson runs a bread & breakfast.  She is also the caretaker for her mother Laurel Googins Wilson who is in a wheelchair.  She is called Miz Scarlet a nickname taken from Clue.

Laurel as been a widow for decades.  She has a new boyfriend. She needs the time because of all the uproar the past year.

Kenny Tolliver a security expert. An old high school flame of Scarlet in high school that just reconnected and moved back.

Dr. Thaddeus Van Zandt a retired Doctor who just got through with cancer treatment. 

The two couples have come on a 5 day cruise to Bermuda.  Miz Scarlet and Kenny are glad to get away too.  The first day on the cruise and Laurel sees someone jump past her room into the ocean.

The cruise security thinks the wife did it.  They are not interested in looking for others. Kenny and Miz Scarlet are willing to look fast for more.  The head of security is a old friend of Kenny's and tells them to go ahead.

Scarlet is smart, curious and figures out a lot of the clues.  Even though she is not trained.  I really like her.

I was offered a free copy but could not figure out how to get it to my kindle so I just went ahead and bought it from Amazon because I like Sara M Barton's mysteries.

My review:  Peril By Ponytail: A Bad Hair Day Mystery

This is book #12 of A Bad Hair Day Mystery but the first one I have read.  It holds up fine as a stand alone book.  Did not feel that I had missed anything.  But I am going to read more of the series now.

The mystery part was easy for the most part to figure out.  But not all the bad guys.  It kept my attention.

 I really enjoyed learning about the area and it's history.  The setting was at a dude ranch and ghost town.  It had a little bit of Ghosts.

Marla and Dalton decide to go to a dude ranch for their belated honeymoon.  Dalton's relatives that he just got to know invited them down.  He also wants Dalton's help figuring out who is trying to ruin there businesses.

Dalton is a homicide detective in Florida.  He has a daughter.  Marla owns a hair salon in Florida.  They have been married 10 months.

Dalton's mother never talked about his Uncle Ray.  She has not talked to him for years.  His cousin did not know what caused the fight ether.  

Someone is causing trouble on the dude ranch.  They are also causing trouble at the old ghost town that Ray is trying to restore and open. His workers are getting afraid of the ghosts at the ghost town.

There is plenty of drama, mystery, romance, history, humor and is a clean read too.  I enjoyed the characters and would like to get to know them better.

I really enjoyed Out of the Ashes.  It is loosely a Cinderella story with lots of twists and turns. I never knew where the story would take me.  Full of magic, romance, with a feisty heroine.

Ashelandra (Ash) mother was a sorceress who died giving birth to her.  Her father died when she was 17 and she was left with a Uncle as guardian Lord Richard.  Ash was full of life and she was teaching herself magic out of her mother's books. She loves to play pranks and be outdoors.

Lord Richard and his two children moved into Ash's house.  He had complete control over her and her house till she turned 21.  He did not approve of Ash and kept punishing her.  Till she was a servant in her own home.

James was 17 and a lot like his father. Jane was 18 and quiet.  She was shy.

Of course there was Prince Phillip

Ash found out that her home had secret tunnels and hiding spots that no one else knew about.  She was able to hide her magic books and escape into the woods to practice magic when she was locked into her room.

The setting was 1747 in a Kingdom that had banished magic and its creatures 30 years ago.  Till there was only one  sorcerer left in the Kingdom and he was at the castle.

I did not want to put the book down till I had finished reading the book.  I would love to read more books by Alicia Buck.

My review: High Country Hideout  by Elle James ( Covert Cowboys, Inc. (Book 5)

Good suspense. Plenty of drama, action, love scenes with characters that are interesting.  This is the 5th book of the Covert Cowboys, Inc but my first I have read in this series.

Angus Ketchum was a ex-soldier.  He was wounded and has some self image issues.  He has been hired as a body guard, cowboy. Though Reggie doesn't know it. He grew up on a ranch in Texas.  Angus has a dog called Ranger.

Reggie Davis is a widow.  She is independent.  Reggie is working the ranch and determined that her 5 year  old Tad will inherit the ranch.

I like Tad. He is a cute kid who loves to play with dogs.

There are attacks on Reggie and things are going wrong on the ranch.  At first seams like accidents but someone thinks Reggie is in danger.  When Angus appears on the ranch things start to escalate in danger.

I think Reggie and Angus turn into each other awfully fast considering where they are in life.  But the whole story happens in a real short time frame.

The setting is Fool's Fortune, Colorado.  On a ranch in the mountains.

Overall I enjoyed reading High Country Hideout.  I would like to read more books in the Covert Cowboys, Inc.  See how & why the company was formed..

My review:  Janitors 5: Heroes of the Dustbin by Tyler Whitesides

This is book 5 of the Janitors series and final book.  I have read only 2 of the books and would suggest you read them in order would be best.  So you wouldn't know who were the heroes or who were the villains.  Since all the answers are revealed in this book.

Janitors are the good guys. Cleaning tools are weapons and tools.  Depends on who or what changed them. There are rebels who are fighting the sinister Bureau of Educational Maintenance.

The schools are battlefields.  They are making kids not want to learn, daydreams trying to ruin education.

Another setting is a garbage dump.  A big one.   With garbage monsters that talk trash.

This series is creative, the heroes are not what you expect them to be.  People keep surprising you for good or bad.
Spit can be a good tool.
There are monsters, witches, sweepers and kids with half monsters.  It is a exciting series with surprises around the corners.
It is a clean read or dirty one.  That is filth as in mud, trash and glop.  It is a fun book to read.

Someday I would like the time to read all 5 books in a row in this series.  That way I won't forget who is supposed to be the good or bad guys.

Interesting mission I had no idea about in Elizabethan England.  Petra Baron was worried about getting asked to the prom when she goes into the Fortuneteller's tent at Renaissance Fair.  When she walks out she is in Elizabethan England. 

Full of drama, history, action, romance and mystery.  Plus a well told story and a clean read.

Petra has no idea why or how she is in England and the past.  Why certain people look like some of the people that she has left behind or forward?  She does not tell anyone where she was from because she has a hard time believing it.

Emory finds Petra, but he hiding a lot of secrets and missions.

There were lots of surprises and twists.  Some of it did not make sense but most of the story I could get lost in it. I did like the ending,

I would like to read the next book in the series.

The Scam is another fun, con, action packed novel.  I really enjoy reading this series.  I love the characters. There is a whole range of them.

Kate O'Hare is a FBI Agent.  She has been chasing con artist Nicolas Fox for years, til she caught him. She is single.

Nicolas Fox is a thief and con artist.  He loved to tease and annoy Kate.  Now he works with her to help take down bigger criminals.  Only a few people know that now. He has a lot of fun while he is breaking the laws.

Now they are working to stop a money laundry scheme that uses gambling.  Before some terrorists get there they want to shut it down.  They assemble a team.  Only a few know they are working for the FBI.

The setting for this book goes from Las Vegas to Oahu's North Shore, and into the dark back alleys of Macau.

The bad guys are dangerous. But so is Kate.  She is good at bluffing too. 

The Scam is a light harted  read that you won't want to put down.
