My Review: Discovering Peace by Jennifer Ann Holt

4 stars

I like the title it fits the book. Discovering Peace follows where Delivering Hope ends. I did not feel the sadness in this book, it brought forth more smiles than anything. Their are new characters in this book but a lot of the olds ones are back.

Ally is trying to move on with her life after giving up Hope. It is hard but she is working on it. She has decided to go to BYU the following spring.

Olivia is loving being a mother but finds it harder than she thought. They are excited when they are able to seal Hope to them. They invite Ally and her parents to come.

They both have issues to deal with. They are becoming more friendly. Olivia sends pictures about once a month.

Ally is finding it hard to trust a guy she does not want to get hurt again. Most of the story is her going to school, dating and risking telling of her past.

Hope is a cute little baby.

I kept wanting to see how life is going for Shanelle. I loved how Olivia and Michael went out of their way for her. Especially for Olivia. Good example.

I have loved reading Discovering Peace. Even though they have trials things are looking up for everyone.

I feel the emotions of the characters ring true. That these two books deal with the heart ache of adoption, infertility, forgiveness, was handled really well.

I would love to read more books by Jennifer Ann Holt in the future. Discovering Peace is full of drama, highs and lows of adoption, dating, and is a clean romance on top of it.

I was given Discovering Peace to read so I could give my honest review of it and be part of its book tour.

Broken Trust by Shannon Baker (A Nora Abbott Mystery)

Description

High-Tech Treachery Meets Hopi Mysticism in Colorado's Stunning Rocky Mountains

Desperate to recover from the tragic events at Kachina Ski, Nora Abbott takes her golden retriever Abbey and moves to Boulder, Colorado. Hoping for a new beginning—and a shot at redemption—she takes an accounting job at Loving Earth Trust. But it turns out the environmental trust is rife with deceit and corruption. Nearly half a million dollars is missing and one person has already been killed for knowing too much. Complicating matters are Nora's uninvited visitors: her mother, Cole Huntsman, and a Hopi Kachina that technically doesn't even exist.

As the body count climbs, Nora races to stop a deadly plot to decimate one of the planet's greatest natural resources.

My Review: Broken Trust

3 1/2stars

I believe this is book 2 of Nora Abbott Mysteries. It is the first book of it that I have read. I was surprised at some of the twists and turns the story took. The science of the book is over my head not sure what parts are fiction and what is real. But left me curious to find out more.

Since I had not read the first book I wonder how much I had missed they refer to it a lot though.
Nora sees Hopi Kachinas that no one else sees. She wonders if she is crazy for it. Nora for the past year has been by herself since she moved to Colorado. She has a hard time getting over the murder of her husband and a 17 year old girl. She is now scared of heights.

Nora finds a job at Loving Earth Trust after last accountant left in a hurry. She was murdered.
The body is found on day one of her job. Also her mom shows up at her work and a Cole from the first book turns up too.

Loving Earth Trust is supposed to be saving the planet. One of the top people is more worried about finding the right $50,000 light fixture for her house.

There are plenty of wacky characters in the story. Some you want to hate and others you pity.
The romance part is very weak and somewhat confusing on a couple of couples.
I think I would probably enjoy the book more if I had read the first book. Or at least understand some more of the characters.
was enjoyable. Loved the setting at top of mountain peak of Colorado.

My Review: Hidden Falls: All You Need to Know - Episode 8 by Olivia Newport

4 STARS

If you have been reading the other episodes and liked them you will want to read All You Need to Know. More drama, more questions, more addicting, more cliffhangers that will have you wanting next week to come faster.

If you have not read any of the others episodes I would recommend that you do pick it up to read. I know the first 7 episodes are now only .99. This series you will want to read in order to enjoy it the most.

Lauren is one day from the health fair. She has her hands full.
Nicole sees if she has to have surgery and finally gets one of her calls returned from work with news.
Ethan is worried about his job. He still is helping Nicole tracking down information about Quinn.
Jack is enjoying having a project that interests him.
Liam finally shares his problems and asks for help
A couple of new characters appear and some have more knowledge about Quinn.

I wonder if Quinn is still alive if we knows how many people are concerned with how he just disappeared without telling anyone.
Olivia Newport really knows how to write cliffhangers and characters that make you want to know more about them.

I want more answers, longer episodes, the rest of the story faster. I love Hidden Falls and waiting for more is frustrating and exciting to see where the series goes in the future.

My Review: Melting the Ice Queen's Heart

4 STARS

This is a good short read. Lots of drama, cute kids that steal your heart, characters that I liked. There is one love scene that I skipped over. It also had a character that I wanted to shout out at.

At first Dr. Gavin Brice character I did not like. The more I got to know him and his background the more I liked him. He is a emergency doctor that does not care what others think of him. He wants to save lives not play politics. He does not want to be working in San Fracisco at a hospital.

Dr. Virginia Potter is called the ice queen. She is youngest Dr. in charge of hospital. She works hard to save her hospital and keep its doors open. Her job is all she cares about. The more we see her the more I liked her.

Both Gavin and Virginia are really affected by their childhood to live the life different than they were brought up in.

Lily is 8 years old. She is sweet. Lily acts so grown up at times.
Rose is only 4 years old. She has not spoken since her mom died. She does communicate though.

The hospital board wants to shut down the emergency room of the hospital. Dr. Potter is doing everything to keep it going strong. She can't tell anyone how close they are to closing. She tries to have a fundraiser to help keep it.
On her day off she is down at pier and runs into Dr. Gavin Brice and his two nieces. No one at hospital knows he is raising them. Lily and Rose really take to her.

I was rooting for everyone. I really enjoyed Lily and Rose.

My Review: That Touch of Ink by Diane Vallere

4 STARS

That Touch of Ink is the second book of A Mad for Mod Mystery. It picks up 6 months after Pillow Stalk ended. A new mystery starts when Madison receives a $5,000 dollar bill in the mail. Then her old boyfriend Brad shows up after 2 years wants to get back together. He is the one who sent her the bill.

I like Madison Night. She is a strong fun character. She dresses like Doris Day of films and her hole business is to decorate from that age. Madison has a hard time trusting people since her breakup from Brad. Plus the things that happened in Pillow Stalk.

Madison calls on a place of business so she can find out about the $5000 dollar bill. She that things are not right inside and a dog is acting really weird. So Madison breaks into rescue dog and finds a dead guy. Madison calls Tex the police detective she met in Pillow stalk.

Brad is a decorator and Madison's old boyfriend two years ago. He told her that he was married and would not leave his wife for her.
Madison quit her job and moved to Dallas to start over. Brad had lied about being married. He did it so she would break it off from him and would be safe from his bad friends. Now he sent her the $5000 bill to let her know he was in trouble and now he wants to get back with her.

Tex is a police detective and a playboy. After Pillow stalk case was solved he disappeared from Madison's life. When she calls about finding the dead guy he shows back into her life. Now he is showing up all the time again.

The $5,000 bill is really rare. Now they are showing up in Dallas. Three have come to Madison's attention. She wonders if they are fake.

Madison is not sure she can trust Brad. She wonders what he is up too now and what was the trouble he was in before? Did they follow him.

That Touch of Ink is a good clean cozy mystery. I keep hoping for Madison and Hudson get closer. I enjoyed this book and will continue to read Diane Vallere's books.

Inherit the Word (A Cookbook Nook Mystery) by Daryl Wood Gerber

Description

Jenna Hart moved back to Crystal Cove, California, to recapture her joie de vivre and to help her aunt Vera run the local culinary bookshop and café. But it’s hard to follow a simple recipe for relaxation when murder gets thrown in the mix…

The Cookbook Nook is set to host the town’s upcoming Grill Fest, a tasty tradition which pits local amateur chefs against one another to concoct the most delicious dishes. This year’s challenge: grilled cheese. But with competing chefs bearing grudges from past years, more mouths are running off than savoring the fare.

The expression “too many cooks” proves all too true when the eight-time champ is found murdered in the alley behind the café. Soon a local diner owner (and Jenna’s “second mother”) is suspected of bumping off the competition, and Jenna has to douse the flames before the wrong person gets burned…

My Review: Inherit the Word (A Cookbook Nook Mystery) by Daryl Wood Gerber

4 STARS

I really liked that most of the recipes were in the back of the book. So you could get lost in the story. This is a cozy mystery.
The mystery was good at keeping me at guessing who the murder really was. The characters are likable. Lots of drama, good friends, a second mystery and even a little romance, all in a clean read.

This is the second book of the series, but the first one I have read. I would read another Cookbook Nook Mystery in the future.

The plot is the yearly Grill Fest is going to be held for the first time at the Cookbook Nook. For the last 8 times the same person has one. The first day of the Grill Fest the Champ has been found murdered. The main suspect is Jenna's second mother. So Jenna and her friends try to help solve the case.

I thought to make grilled cheese all you needed was bread, butter and cheese. Had no idea all the different ways to make a grilled cheese sandwich. Though it does make me want to go and make one and eat it.

Jenna is not much of a cook and works in a cookbook store and café. She is a widow dealing with the death of her husband for the last two years. There is a new guy who wants to date her but she is scared to start dating again.

The setting is Crystal Cove, California a small beach front town. The Mayor is always trying to get more visitors to visit. It sounds like a fun town to live in.

The pacing was a quick paced and kept you wanting to read till you knew who the guilty person was. Plus what was the message that Jenna's late husband had left for her.

I was given this ebook to read and asked in return to give honest review of it.

My Review: Her Callahan Family Man by Tina Leonard

3 STARS

This whole series seems a lot alike. The female (Sawyer) gets pregnant with multiples. The male (Jace Callahan)demands to get married. Their Uncle Wolf does something that causes danger that is directed against them. Their Grandfather appears with warnings and advice. Aunt Fiona makes the bride try on the magical wedding dress. Some love scenes.

If you have enjoyed this series and keep up with all the storyline than you want to read this. It is a good story but I keep hoping for more. I missed some of the books especially at the start of the series. The little bits of past story are not enough for me.

The wild horses would be great to see run wild. The scenery I would love to see. The setting is mostly a ranch in New Mexico close to border.

I do like the characters. They are strong, smart, hard working, family and are willing do sacrifice to do the right thing.

I was given this ebook to read for purpose of giving honest review from Netgalley and Harlequin.
