My review: Give ‘Em Pumpkin to Talk About by Joyce and Jim Lavene
4 STARS
This is a good cozy with a couple of mysteries. Lots of drama, treasure hunters, murders and talk about ghosts and Aliens. A clean read. Characters that I want to know more about.
The setting a farm in Misty River, Virginia.
Sarah Tucker comes to her grandparents abandoned farm to sell it for her family. When Sarah was 12 years old she came to spend some time at the pumpkin farm and her grandparents were gone. The house just looked like they had just stepped out. Food was warm, table set.
Sarah finds that someone named Jack has been staying at the farm and keeping things from falling apart. He has chased people off the property who come to steal pumpkins or come to dig for gold that might have been hiding since the Civil War.
Sarah is a lawyer who just had her divorce finalized. She plans to get back to her job. She does not trust Jack.
There happens to be a murder at the farm shot by a rifle. Jack and Sarah are right there when it happened.
I did guess who the killer was. But there is a lot more to the story. People think that her grandparents were taken by aliens and the house is haunted.
One scene that I would have liked seeing is when Jack carved the pumpkins and put a candle in them at night out in the field. It would be cool to see and scary.
I want to read more about the characters. I will look for more books in this series.
I like Joyce and Jim Lavene's stories and will keep reading them in the future.
I was given this ebook to read and in return I agreed to give a honest review of Give Em Pumpkin to talk about and be part of it's blog tour.
