Jinnie Wishmaker Book One of the Troubled Teens Series by D.D. Roy

This starts out with Jinnie and her brother Bryan are going to runaway from their Grandmas home. Their parents are missing in South America. Their Uncle and Aunt want them to come live with them in their big house. They want to find their parents but know they cant do that. They are got and their Grandma takes away their shoes.
Jinnie and Bryan are kind of out of their element. So are their aunt and Uncle. They want to be good for jinnie and Bryan.
Bryan is smart and makes lots of gadgets that work sort of Like James Bond' Q. Jinnie starts to notice that she is understanding animals wishes.
She gets into a fight and has to try Troubled Teems group and finds out they all have talents. The world for them is really starts to change.
It is a fun, quick read. Where the children are the ones trying to figure out the problems and the answers to the problems.
The next book Marcus Mender sounds good to. It is a series that all ages could read and enjoy. Be careful what you wish for the way you receive your wish might not be the answer you want. It has some good life lessons in it too.

Two to Mango by Jill Marie Landis

Two to Mango is a funny story, cozy mystery. Most of the characters are over the top. If you like your murder mystery on the funny side then read this series. I have read all three of them now and could not put the books down. Had to know what crazy things the Hula Maidens were up to now.

The Hula Maidens are a group of senior citizens who dance hulu. Not very well youngest 62 to 90. They have big personalities, they dance for free at the Tiki Goddess bar.
Em is now managing the Tiki Goddess Bar to help her Uncle Louie save the bar. She has not been on North shore for two long. the Hula Maidens sent her a plain ticket and said her uncle was losing his mind. Em just got through a divorce. She flirts with Roland.
Roland is a murder detective and on the side dances with fire swords. He is suspicious of two deaths in the same hula group. No evidence just a hunch. He asks Em to get the Hulu Maidens register for a completion and go and listen around see if she over hears anything.

Their is one scene right before the Hulu Maidens go on to perform when Em accuses someone of poisoning another person and she starts to run so Em gets in a fight soon the Maidens join in and a group from Japan are all fighting on stage. I was laughing so hard in that scene.

I hope their is plenty more books with Em and the Hula Maidens. This was a clean read.

Promise from a Cowboy is a clean read. This is the third book in Coffee Creek series of books. I have now read the whole series and have enjoyed it. Some series keep going and I never get all of them read and is lost in some of the storylines.
Olive is the matriarch of Lamberts and owner of biggest ranch in the county. She is not happy with any of her children's choices even though they are adults. She wants to control them. She has had a feud with her sister Maddie for over 30 years not talking to her and letting her children have anything to do with her.
This is B.J and Savannah story. They dated in high school and broke up a couple of months before graduation. Savannah blamed him for her twin Hunters trouble over a party that happened where a barn in middle of Maddie's ranch caught fire from lightning and a stranger died in the hayloft. No one knows who he was or how he found his way to that barn.
B.J. swore never to tell the truth about what really happened that night when they were 18. He took the blame for planning the party mainly to protect Savannah's brother because he loved her.
B.J. has spent the last 18 years in the rodeo circuit. Now he feels he needs to come home to the ranch. He never got over Savannah.
Savannah is the Sheriff. Now new evidence has come to light over the a watch that was pawned a couple of days after the barn fire. If they belonged to the john doe than the case will be opened again. She wants the whole truth about what happened that night.
Savannah had to stay home that night to watch her younger sister. Her father was a drunk and mother lived for her garden and old movies. Savannah raised her twin and younger sister who was only 8 at the time.

Now when Savannah and B.J. were getting back together after all these years Hunter came home and blamed everything about the fire and how the young man was left to die blames it all on B.J.

Savannah has to choose who she believes in the brother that she helped or B.J. who had everything.
I liked how the first chapter retold the about the accident that changed all their lives at the first of all four books. So it is easy to follow the storylines.
Also liked how B.J. respected his mom and apologized to her but decided that he should have gotten to know his Aunt Maddie earlier like his younger brother Brock had before he died.
Savannah has a strong code of ethics. Her parents really did not look after their family so she stepped in and even took care of her mom after her father died.
I enjoyed Promise from a Cowboy. I will definitely read more books from C.J. Carmichael in the future.

I had read the third book in the series Three to Get Lei'd. Which was good and I was looking on my kindle and realized I had the first book
Mai Tai One on it. So I read it too. It did not disappoint. I laughed I was kept guessing on who to trust. I did know who was innocent because they
were still characters in the third book. After I had read it I went and bought the second book and am excited to read that soon.

Mai Tai One On is full of over the top fun characters. The Hula Maidens are a group of senior citizens who are dancing the hula dances at the Tiki Goddess
Bar for free. They don't dance very well but have fun doing it. They get into a lot of trouble and mischief.

Em Johnson has been divorced and broke when the Hula Maidens had a fund raiser and paid for her airline ticket over to help her run the Tiki Goddess for her
Uncle louie Marshall who was having problems with his finances. She is bringing new ideas to the bar that is bringing more business in.

While everyone is in the bar someone put a dead body in the luau pit. It was their neighbor who has argued with Louis for 40 years. He is not a likeable character
He burns a lot of trash and the smoke really bothers the bar. Especially when it is the Luau night.

Sophie Chin one of the bartenders went over that morning and had a fight with him. She was late for work that day and became a suspect. She was living in her
car when Em had hired her. Em did not ask about her background or call referrals at all.

Em is asking questions in the wrong area and is kidnapped by someone.

Detective Roland is the one in charge of the murder investigation. He is good looking and on the side he dances with fire knifes on the side. He flirts with
Em. (I want to see more of them together in future) He is always trying to get the Maidens to stop crazy stunts and asking Questions.

Their is also a parrot called David Letterman that predicts if a drink Louie makes up will be a success or failure. He brings more laughter to the story but I don't
think serving drinks to critters is smart idea.

I do enjoy this series of books. They are pretty clean. Lot of the story takes place in the bar. Has good suspense and mystery. fun characters. Has murder, kidnapping,
even a car chase in it with the hula Maidens doing the chasing. Just needs a little more romance. I have now read two of the books and look forward to reading
Two to Mango next in the series.

I hate spiders. Lots of spiders in this story. So it was a creepy crawly tale for me to read. I might end up sleeping with the lights on tonight. This book took twists and turns I did not expect. Kept me reading. Trying to figure out where the good guys or bad guys were.

Lots of dead bodies count in this book, lots of spiders, too many sex scenes, lots of bad guys and all around Sara Jones it evolves.
This is not a light hearted story.

Sara is a strong character. She is 24 years old. For the past few years she has been living with her boyfriend Conner who is 9 years older then her. Sara works as an accountant. She realizes what business her boyfriend's family is really in, crime. She plans to run away and plans well so she thought. Sara decides to head to Billings after meeting a woman on a bus. It sounds good to her.

When Sara gets to Billings she gets a job and is living in a hotel. As she is waiting for a person to help her find apartment she receives a package. She takes it up to her room and Nancy Stewart from the property management company comes with her. To talk about what she wants in a place to live. Sara is afraid that Conner has found her and sent the package.

Sara does not want to open it but does. Nancy asks to see the ring and while she is looking at it she is bitten by a spider. She immediately reacts to it. Sara calls 911 for help. After the ambulance is gone Sara runs into Brett. Brett offers to go with her to the hospital to give him just a few minutes. Before they are ready to follow Nancy to the hospital she gets a bunch of messages asking what hospital they took Nancy too. Nancy has disappeared. There is no record of Sara calling 911.

Sara calls the police and tells them what happened. They will look into it and find Nancy. Nancy has disappeared. Soon more people are being bitten and disappear. Sara even gets bitten but she is okay. She keeps finding spiders more and more spiders. The hotel is sprayed twice. Brett and Sara leave the hotel and move into Brett's co-workers house while he is out of state working.

Sara is not sure what to believe is going on. She has weird dreams and starting to suspect Brett and everyone around her.

If you like spiders and creepy mystery that keeps you guessing you will like this story. If you hate spiders worse than me skip this. I was not kidding about leaving the lights on tonight. I had better not see a spider.

Whisper Island by Anola Pickett

I love the cover of this book. I was not sure what the US Life Savers Service was that Primmy wanted to join. Boy life was different in the 1913's. This is a charming look at life on a Whisper Island for 12 year old girl. Primmy has goals to save lives and work as a US Life Savers Service like the rest of her family does. She is always told that girls can't do that.

I like the characters. Primmy is 12 and lives with her two older brothers and her father. Her mother left her and her two half brothers. Every once in a while Primmy receives postcard from her mother.

Whisper Island is a small island and everyone knows everyone's business. Most in a caring way.
Primmy hangs out with two boys around her age when she is not cooking, cleaning for her family. She does get in lots of trouble with not finishing tasks first.

Primmy finds ways to help even when everyone tells her she can't do something because its too hard she is only a girl. She remembers first aid that her father and mama Lu have taught her.

Her mother sends her first letter to Primmy and wants her to take the mail boat over and stay with her at a hotel. Primmy really does remember her and wonders why she left her. She is excited that her mom wants to meet her for her birthday.

I did not want to put the book down. The book takes place in just one season. It is a fast read.
It is a clean book and is geared for middle school age but is a book all ages can enjoy. It shows Primmy learning lessons about what qualities she wants to have and not have.
