Longing For Home: Hope Springs by Sarah M. Eden

As Kate struggles with her decision to stay and make a home for herself, two men compete for her heart. But when the violence escalates into a full-scale war, Kate wonders if any of them will be able to survive the winter.

Hope Springs is the story of one woman’s determination to make a life for herself against all odds, and her struggle to untangle the conflicting feelings of her heart

My Review:Longing For Home: Hope Springs by Sarah M. Eden

5 STARS

Need lots of tissue with this book. Like life this book brings happy and sad tears. It touched me so much it is hard to express.
The hate and feud between the Irish and the red road was hard to read about and see. So many different groups at different times have this hate in history. Even today in groups of opposites. Made me look at myself and realize that I have felt a little of it at times. We need to stop hating differences where ever they lie and make peace.

The characters seem so real to me. I had lost hope for some of them to ever get along. I loved the ending.
Kate Macauley had such a hard life and so much suffering. She still loved and cared for those around her. She made a big difference in small and big ways. By giving, sharing, hard work and her music.

Tavish made people laugh and lightened their loads. He also helped those he could when he could.

Joseph used his money to help and to try and keep the peace in town. He is a loving and caring father. He understood people's pride. He tried to be seen fair to all and not pick a side.

Their was life lessons for me with all the characters. Some I want to be more like and others to be opposite of them.

The plot the town was divided on two sides. The Irish had to live on one side of the river. Everyone else on the red road. Even the church was divided. So much hate and they were passing it down to the children. Their was even differences in the price of food and supplies. The Hate was growing all the time.

Katie liked both Tavish and her former boss Joseph. She felt torn between two good men.

The setting for this book is Hope Springs, 1870 Wyoming Territory. Small town setting.

I was given this book by Netgalley and Shadow Mountain Publishing for purpose of honestly reviewing it.

going Twice by Sharon Sala (Forces of Nature #2)

Description

New York Times bestselling author Sharon Sala enters the eye of the maelstrom as death and disaster stalk Tornado Alley—aided by an obsessive madman.

As bodies pile up in the wake of a storm—stripped, tortured and grimly posed—authorities must admit the unthinkable. The serial killer dubbed the Stormchaser has returned following a tornado and taken it upon himself to bring the death toll up to where he believes it belongs.

FBI investigator Wade Luckett is back on the case, assisted by an agent Wade knows professionally and personally: his ex-wife, Jo. Neither time nor the tragedy that tore them apart have blunted the ache Wade feels for brave, beautiful Jo. And though she tries to deny it, she feels the same. But the stirrings of renewed romance will have to wait until they catch a killer.

The Stormchaser has no intention of getting caught. He's set his sights on a new victim. Jo can forget about the lifetime she dreams of spending with Wade. She'll be lucky to see another day.

My Review: Going Twice (Forces of Nature #2)

4 STARs

Going Twice is the middle book of three. I did not read Going Once but I would like too now. It can stand alone but you will want to read the next book too. The story is good. Lots of drama, action, and even romance. A few sex scenes that I skipped over.
Main plot is a serial killer is on the loose called Stromchaser. He follows natural disasters targeting survivors and killing them. He taunts the 3 FBI Agents.
In Going Twice a fourth agent is assigned to the team. Is Jo Luckett. She is Wade Luckett's ex-wife. They are on the same team and have to work together. Their marriage ended after the death of their baby. It starts out tugging on your emotions right away.
I like the four FBI Agents. The emotional drama is mainly between Jo and Wade this book. Jo has a lot of guilt to work out.
Jo brings fresh eyes to the team and is a big help to them. She is tough and smart.

This book makes you feel when you read it all kinds of emotions from sad, happy, compassion and wanting them to catch the Stromchaser.
Their are a couple of story lines that you can guess what is going to happen next, but is still very good and suspenseful.
I did not want to put the book down and can't wait till the next book comes out.

Taken for English by Olivia Newport

Description Taken for English

Annie joined the Amish church based on prayerful conviction, not romantic dreams. And yet, she’d hoped to share her new life with Rufus. But he’s obviously in no hurry. Family history clearly shows it’s never been easy living a plain life in the English world. Will the changes and challenges Annie now faces as a young Amish woman test her newfound faith in good ways or bad? And how long will Rufus test her patience?

Valley of Choice Series:
Book 1 - Accidentally Amish
Book 2 - In Plain View

My Review: Taken for Emglish

4 STARS

I have read and enjoyed all three books of this series. Like the other two stories it has two stories in it. Sometimes it is hard to switch back and forth fron the past in 1800 and now.

This is a clean read. Lots of characters who I liked. Lots of relationships intertwined.
Annie finally gets baptized into the Amish religion. Everyone was expecting her to get married to
Rufus.
Rufus is having problems with his work and wonders what do. When and where he will live in the future.
Ruth is living with Annie while she does a internship in town with clinic. She likes some things about being English. She stills has a lot of schooling to finish to be a nurse.
Elijah is thinking about leaving his Amish faith. He still loves Ruth.

Somebody is starting fires in the community. Rufus thinks it could be one suspect and Ruth wonders if it could be another one.

In the past a feud between two families start and causes a lot of pain to everyone when innocents gets caught in between the two families.

I personally would have enjoyed it better as two books instead of one.

I would continue to read Olivia Newport books in the future.

4 STARS

Bundle of trouble deals with grief of loss, medical problems and friends stepping into help each other when trouble comes. I liked the characters especially Chloe who went out of her comfort zone to help a new friend because she could.

My Review:The Sinister Sitcom Caper by Sally Carpenter

4 STARS

I liked The Sinister Sitcom Caper by Sally Carpenter. It was entertaining. It is funny, drama, and action. Plus we get to see and hear about making a tv sitcom and the different ways things were done when Sandy was the star. The story kept me guessing about what really was going on.

At first I thought the characters were all over the top, and than I was thinking about different teen stars in the past. Thought she got her characters true. I could picture different T.V. stars that I had liked and what mess they made of their lives.

Sandy was a former teen idol who now is divorced father of two teenagers. A recovering Alcoholic. Trying to go back working.
He has a guest role on a new series.

One of the actress Elsie is walking with him and all of a sudden sags to the ground. He gets her medical help right away but she dies. No one really likes her.

The major problem I have with the story is where are the police? No one asks questions or evens shows up to question anyone either after Elsie dies or other situations occurs. The only scene is when Sandy takes something to the police.

The setting is Hollywood at one of the movie studios that has been around along time.

This is the second Sandy Fairfax Teen Idol Mysteries. I would like to go back and read the first book. I hope their is another Sandy Fairfax Mystery coming soon.

I was given this ebook to read for purpose of reviewing it and being part of its blog tour.

My Review: Colt Humboldt and the Close of Death by T.A. Anderson

4 STARS

This is a fast paced adventure series, at least the first book of one. It is aimed at middle school readers but readers of any age can enjoy.
At one point I got the idea their might be 5 books to series another place only 3. So I will have to wait and see.

The main characters are children. Who I liked and wanted the best for them.

Colt Humboldt is 12 year old boy from Texas. His father just moved them to Scotland. Colt is not happy to be in Scotland.

Alesone is around age 12 to. She came out of Colt's closet having been chased by soldiers. She is brave and wants to help her family. She needs to talk to a Priest.

Peter is 6 years old. He does not talk. But he sure communicates what he wants very well. He is curious and brave.
Peter is willing to fight things he does not know about.

The three of them work together to find a way for Alesone & Peter to get back home where they can help save their family.

Alesone and Peter do not know about bathrooms, radios, cars and are dressed really in rags and no shoes. They find a book that shows what they have done or need to do to get home. It changes what the pages say when different people read it.

Their are a lot of Scottish folklore in the story that I was not to familiar with. It was nice to see what they have over their.

The book is full of action, adventure and danger. Also has some of the story dealing with the black plague and all the deaths that it caused.

Their were a few places in the story that I got lost in and found a little confusing.

The ending lefts some questions that I had unanswered that might be answered in the next book of the series.
I would like to see where this series goes from here.

I was given this ebook to read for purpose of giving a honest review of it by Netgalley.

"Mary Marks has stitched together a very clever plot with a cast of engaging characters in this funny, fast-paced debut mystery. I loved Martha Rose and her posse of crime-solving quilters and can't wait to read what they're up to next!" --Laura Levine, author of Killing Cupid

My Review:Forget Me Knot by Mary Marks (A Quilting Mystery, #1)

5 STARS

I gave it 5 stars because I was entertained, the suspense was good, learned something more about quilts, clean read, clever and believable cozy mystery.

The plot was good. Three friends who get together every Tuesday to quilt together are going to a different quilters house to see if she would be a good fit with them and join their group. When they get their no one answers the door. So they look into the house through window and see a body.

The mother of Claire asked Martha to look into Claire's quilts because she once remarked that her quilts were her journals.

The story focusing on the quilts and what story they told I thought was very clever and different. It made me want to look into more quilts shows and their history. I love quilts have only tied mine. I can't believe that some go for $10,000.

The characters are great. The three friends Martha, Lucy and Birdie are older women. Martha is single and the younger of the three in her 50's. Lucy has a great family. Birdie is caring. The three get together to try and figure out what Claire's quilts are really saying. They figure out a lot.

The book had great pacing. It kept me reading and wanting to know more about Claire and her quilts.

The setting is Los Angels.

The story was full of drama, history, action, mystery and humor with a touch of romance thrown in along the way. I would read another book in this series in the future.

Description

The "First Lady of the West," #1 New York Times bestselling author Linda Lael Miller delivers the stunning finale of her acclaimed series set in Parable, Montana—where love awaits

Self-made tycoon Landry Sutton heads to Hangman Bend's Ranch to sell his land to his brother Zane. Though he's got cowboy in his blood, Landry plans to return to city life before the dust even settles on his boots. Of course, he didn't count on falling for Big Sky Country…or Ria Manning.

Ria's starting to settle into country life herself…until she has a close encounter of the terrifying kind with a buffalo. Turns out the peeping monster belongs to the cowboy next door—and he has her running even more scared than his bison. She wants a home where the buffalo don't roam, and the men don't either. Could Landry's homecoming be her heart's undoing?

My Review: Big Sky Secrets (Parable, Montana #6)

4 stars

I was waiting for a big secrets, I think others books in this series had bigger secrets. I did enjoy the book though. This is supposed to be the last book in this story line.

Ria has a flower farm in Montana. It makes you want to see her flowers. She has only lived there for around a year. Her half sister wants her help to go check out one of her branch office. Ria tells her no.

Landry has a herd of buffalo all of two. They keep getting out and going to Ria's house and eats some of her flowers. Landry has a butler on his ranch. He got from the divorce back in Chicago. He is not sure he will stay in Montana or sell his half of the ranch to his brother.

It seems like most of the characters have problems carried over from childhood. It made me wonder how bad have I messed up with my girls. Landry's father comes for a visit. While Ria's niece hitchhikes to Montana because of her mother wanting to send her to camp.

Their are a couple of love scenes in last part of the book that I skimmed over.

This book is mostly about characters dealing with different relationships between family, friends and each other.

Atonement by B.J. Daniels (Beartooth, Montana #4)

Description

Just how far are people willing to go to keep their secrets?

Protecting the citizens of Beartooth, Montana, is never an easy job. It's been one year, and Sheriff Dillon Lawson still feels guilty that he couldn't save his twin brother, Ethan. But the biggest test of his bravery comes when Tessa Winters arrives, claiming to be pregnant…with Ethan's baby. At first, Dillon can't decide if this beautiful woman is a con artist or a victim. Now, Dillon is prepared to do anything to uncover the truth—anything except admit his growing feelings for Tessa. But with violence threatening, Tessa and Dillon must trust in each other to save not only themselves…but also Tessa's unborn child.

My Review: Atonement by B.J. Daniels (Beartooth, Montana #4)

4 stars

In Atonement has two story lines, One is dealing with the Sheriff and his ex-wife that has been in all four books of Beartooth, Montana. The other deals with Dillon Lawson and his dead twin brother. Also Tessa and her pregnant baby. The plot was good and kept you wanting to know what happens next.

Full of Drama, action, suspense and mystery. I enjoyed reading Atonement. Also clean read.

The setting was Beartooth, Montana and surrounding states.

I liked the characters. I would think it be hard to love brothers especially twins. Dillon is a hard working honest man. He is acting Sheriff and his own small ranch. Ethan is the opposite of Dillon. In fact he is dishonest and died a year ago.

Tessa Winters is eight month pregnant and she has found Ethan the father of her baby. She wants the money he stole from her and sign his rights away to the baby. She can't believe she fell for Ethan lies. Now she and the baby could be in danger.

Their are a lot of characters that are new. Their is also others that we have met in Beartooth Montana. The Sheriff Frank who is wanted for murdering his ex-wife. Nettie the grocery store owner who has loved Frank for years.

Their are a few murders that happen in the book both in story lines.

I will read more books by B.J. Daniels in the future.

My Review: Chance by Robyn Carr

4 STARS

I like Thunder Point series. This book had a lot of new characters in it and some old ones. I like her characters and the lives that intertwine with each other. The main characters in this story is Laine the FBI Agent that got shot rescuing Mercy.

Laine is still recovering from her shoulder surgery and decides to take off a year to heal. She decides to come to Thunder Point.
I enjoyed learning about Laine and her family. She is smart, tough and caring.

Eric has just moved to Thunder Point and started a business. He wants to be closer to his daughter before she leaves Thunder Point,
Eric is a good boss. He made mistakes in his youth and learned from them. He cares about his workers.

The story makes you care about the characters and want to know more about them. I hated to put it down.

Their is love scenes that I skipped over. Lots of drama, emotions were touched as I was reading it.

I will continue to read Robyn Carr's Thunder Point. It makes me want to visit and live their. The setting is a make believe town in Coos Bay area.

Timothy Savage's death was so obviously the suicide of a demented individual that the case has been closed.

When Sam learns Savage left a will requesting she autopsy his body, she feels compelled to look into the case. Sam's own postmortem discovers clear signs that Savage was indeed murdered. And she finds DNA from a kidnapped child whose remains were recovered years earlier.

The investigation takes Sam into the shadows of a twenty-year-old mystery that must be solved to determine what really happened to Timothy Savage. Nothing about the case makes sense but it is clear someone is unwilling to let anyone, especially Samantha Owens, discover the truth.

My Review: When Shadows Fall

4 STARS

The suspense of what was going on and who was the good guys and bad guys went right to the end of the story. Not sure how I feel about the ending. It kept me reading till I finished early in the morning. It had so many twists and turns in the plot.

This is the third in the series of Dr. Samantha Owens. We had met her early in other J.T. Ellison series. In this book she is reunited with a FBI Agent from that other series too. Their are other characters we have met that come back in this Book.

The setting of this story is Virginia 2013.

The pacing of the story was good. It kept your attention so you did not want to stop reading.

I like Dr. Samantha. She has gone through so many hard trials you want everything to work out for her. She has taken a new job teaching others to become forensic pathologists. Someone wants to draw her back to do a autopsy on his body to find how he was murdered.

Their are a few love scenes that is skipped over. Lots of murders. Lots of missing children over the years. Now a new one they are racing to find. Lots of danger, action, mystery and interesting characters in this story.

I was given this ebook to read for purpose of reviewing it. I got the book from Netgalley and Harlequin.

My Review: The Chase

5 STARS

I had a good time reading The Chase. I had to stop and share a few lines to others in the car with me.
I love the humor, characters, drama and action. Had some fight scenes, bombs & cons I can see as the only part that some might not like. No sex scenes, or swear words that people object too.

The plot is Nick Fox thief and con artist is now working for the FBI. Only three FBI know about it. FBI Special Agent Kate had spent years chasing him. Now she has to work with him to stop bigger crooks. A China Treasure was stolen and a fake replaced in the Smithsonian museum. They want it back now. Kate and Nick need to find out who stole it and get it back without anyone knowing.

The setting for the book goes all over the World. A few places in US, China and Scotland are a few of the places.

The pace and action of the book was fast. Every time it seemed to go slow something else would come up that needed to be handled.

Nick Fox is a charming con artist and thief. He is still on the top 10 FBI wanted. He likes impossible targets.

Kate is a no nonsense FBI Agent. In The Heist she was former U.S. Navy seal before joining the FBI. Now she is former Special Forces.

Carter Grove is the bad guy they have to con. He used to run the White House for eight years, He is rich, has own security force that contracts with military. Powerful man who does not like to be crossed.

Their are bunch of other characters that are used to work the con. Help Kate out, like her father and other ex-military soldiers he worked with.

This is a fun book, in some ways it is so over the top it is perfect book to get lost into.

I would love to see many more O'Hare and Fox stories. I will read them.

I was given this ebook to read and asked to give honest review of it by Netgalley.

My Review:Days of Wine and Roquefort by Avery Aames

4 STARS

I admit that I have never tried wine and I have not tried many cheeses. It does make me want to try more cheeses. I like that the recipes are in back of the book. They don't interfere with the story. Also they are easy to find if you want one. So the wine and cheese part of the story is hard for me to judge.

The mystery was good. I was not sure who the murder was but did figure out a few of the surprises before they were revealed.

This is book 5 of the series but only the first one I have read. The characters are well developed. I did not feel to lost in them but would love to have read the other books in the series.

I liked Noelle. Sorry for her being the murder victim.

The characters were a fun bunch. Especially Charlotte's family and friends. They bring a lot of drama, silliness and life to the story. You want to know more about their lives.

Charlotte runs a cheese shop with her cousin Mathew runs the wine part of it. Charlotte was raised by her grandparents who are French. Her boyfriend is a way testifying in witness protection. She is very handy with tools. She has to find out who killed Noelle at her home

Their is lots of humor, drama, action , some romance and lots of cheese and wine where they go. They are clean reads. A cozy mystery to enjoy.

The setting is small-town Providence, Ohio

I would read more books by Avery Aames or Daryl Wood Gerber in the future. They are entertaining.

The Heist (Fox and O'Hare #1) by Janet Evanovich & Lee Goldberg

Book Description
Publication Date:June 18, 2013
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

From Janet Evanovich, #1 bestselling author of the Stephanie Plum novels, and Lee Goldberg, bestselling author and television writer for Monk, comes the first adventure in an electrifying new series featuring an FBI agent who always gets her man, and a fearless con artist who lives for the chase.

FBI Special Agent Kate O’Hare is known for her fierce dedication and discipline on the job, chasing down the world’s most wanted criminals and putting them behind bars. Her boss thinks she is tenacious and ambitious; her friends think she is tough, stubborn, and maybe even a bit obsessed. And while Kate has made quite a name for herself for the past five years the only name she’s cared about is Nicolas Fox—an international crook she wants in more ways than one.

Audacious, handsome, and dangerously charming, Nicolas Fox is a natural con man, notorious for running elaborate scams on very high-profile people. At first he did it for the money. Now he does it for the thrill. He knows that the FBI has been hot on his trail—particularly Kate O’Hare, who has been watching his every move. For Nick, there’s no greater rush than being pursued by a beautiful woman . . . even one who aims to lock him up. But just when it seems that Nicolas Fox has been captured for good, he pulls off his greatest con of all: He convinces the FBI to offer him a job, working side by side with Special Agent Kate O’Hare.

Problem is, teaming up to stop a corrupt investment banker who’s hiding on a private island in Indonesia is going to test O’Hare’s patience and Fox’s skill. Not to mention the skills of their ragtag team made up of flamboyant actors, wanted wheelmen, and Kate’s dad. High-speed chases, pirates, and Toblerone bars are all in a day’s work . . . if O’Hare and Fox don’t kill each other first.

My Review:The Heist (Fox and O'Hare #1) by Janet Evanovich & Lee Goldberg

5 STARS

I have had this on my TBR pile for awhile and realized that next week the new book is out. I loved it. It was funny, drama, twists around each corner.
I loved the characters. Can't wait till the The Chase comes out next week. Or tomorrow it is already on my kindle.

FBI Special Agent Kate O'Hare is my hero. She is smart, strong and tough. She was a navy Seal before she joined the FBI. She is assigned to capture conman Nicolas Fox. She believes in catching the bad guys. Kate is willing to go far to catch him.

Nicolas Fox is a con man. He has complex cons. He knows a lot about Kate and flirts with her and makes fun of her. He is also attracted to her.
I admit I like him.

Their are a cast of characters that work with each group. Then their is Kate's family. Her sister posts information on facebook that Nick gets information about her. Their is her father who has been a soldier fighting all over the world.

Now Kate and Nick have to work together to bring bigger bad guys in. They face pirates, bad guys, and get their own crew together while at the same time Nick is still wanted. (It reminds me of Alias Smith and Jones ) Humor, action drama and bad guys helping to catch bad guys.

The setting for this book is all around the world. My favorite the chocolate café in Germany.

Fast paced book. I will read the next book The Chase this weekend.

I bought the book from book of month club.

Secrets that could destroy her hope for a future with Davis.

Whisper Falls: Where every prayer is answered

My Review: Sugarplum Homecoming

4 stars

Parents should never sleep especially during the day when kids will climb anything. That would be scary to see your kids climb rocks to a waterfall. Nathan and Page got their dad to take them on a picnic by the falls. So while he slept they could climb up the rocks and get behind waterfall and say a special prayer. They want a new mom with brown hair.

Sugarplum is sweet, laughed so hard when Davis told how he scared some teenagers that breaking into her haunted house. Made me think about how I am judging people because of their past ways. Others are just embracing everyone.

Lana and her twin sister Tess where known to party, drink and sing. Lana was going to be a star. Now she is back home where all the bad memories are. She has given up singing and drinking to give Sydney a home.

Lana has to face her past and fears instead of running away for Sydney. She has a job writing for the local papers. The activities of town like high school games, festivals and other town activities.

When Nathan and Page see Lana movie in with a girl close their age they think the special prayer worked.

Davis remembers her from school and has to decides what is best for his kids.
Davis sister was never her friend and talks bad about her in front of kids. Spreads gossip about how she was 10+ years ago.

Sugarplum is a fun romance. I liked the kids and how the adults characters cared about them and their relationships with each other.

I want to go back to Whisper falls and find out how all the characters are doing.

I was given this ebook to read and in return agreed to give honest review of it.

My Review:Hidden Falls: No Time for Answers - Episode 6 by Olivia Newport

4 STARS

Still addicting. Love the characters and the cliffhangers. But want more answers and longer books. I am never ready for it to end. If you buy all 13 episodes it does add up to a lot.

Liam is being blackmailed. While he is out of town he discovers a clue about Quinn.
Lauren is trying to figure out what plans that Quinn had made about the health fair in three days. Nicole is still staying at Lauren's apartment. Nicole does not want to wait for her foot to heal up. Lauren & Nicole talk Ethan into doing something crazy.
Sylvia is trying to get her shop cleaned up from the destruction made in her shop. Dani is helping her clean and save what can be saved.

Lauren is very busy but she sees a need and follows up on it instead of keeping to her agenda. She really makes a difference in someone life. I want to be more like her. See a need and reach out and help.

This is a series you will want to read in order starting with episode 1.

I really do like this series and will continue to wait each week till the next episode comes out.

Lots of drama, more mystery events happen, more cliffhangers, new characters introduced. I really want answers.

Colton by Blood by Melissa Cutler

4 STARS

The one thing about a series of books that I don't answer all the mystery in one books and you have to wait for the next book to give you more answers. I was not ready for the story to end I wanted more. I like Levi, he is strong, caring and willing to forgive a lifetime of bad treatment.

This book should have a warning, full of yummy deserts make you just gain weight by reading about Kate the pastry chef at the Dead river ranch. She puts up with a lot so she can pay her debts before she can move onto a better job. She works early in the morning till late. She has had a lot of trials in her life. Kate is also looking into the death of her friend who tried to stop a kidnapper. People find out she is looking for answers and warn her to stop, let the police look into it.

Dr. Levi Colton was asked by his half sisters to come to Dead River Ranch that their father was dying and refused any treatments. His father is rich and never acknowledged him but he did pay child support. Everyone else is scared of him. He refused them and then decided to just drive to Wyoming to the ranch to prove he is not like his father.

lots of drama, danger but lots of witty dialogue early morning while they are the only two awake at the big ranch while Kate is baking bread or another desert. One love scene that I skimmed over. Also a wildfire is coming close to the ranch.

This is the second book of Melissa's that I have read and enjoyed. I look forward to reading more of her books.

No Way Out (The Justice Agency book 3) by Susan Sleeman

5 STARS

Today was a good day and a bad day to read this story. (April 15, 2013) Susan wrote the book with "Isaiah 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you." Because with trials the only peace is through God. The bad part was it had a explosion in it. A little to vivid in my mind today.

The plot is simple with some twists to it that were unexpected in some ways. I really like the characters. I liked how Alyssa was turning to prayer and relying on God. She still had to deal with her problems and her reactions were real. It was preaching but sharing what helped her get through her trials.

Alyssa has been a widow for two years now. She has twins Brianna and Riley in first grade. Her husband was a cop and drug dealer or so everyone thought. Alyssa went back to work selling real estate and were living rent free in a duplex that her husband's partner Nolan owned.

Alyssa was running at night after work and she heard Nolan and two others below the path she was on talking about her husband's death and framing him as a drug dealer. She knows that at least 2 of 3 men were cops. She made a sound and they started up the hill after her. While hiding from them in her secret spot she found someone already their. He owns a gun. Cole Justice private investigator.

Cole believed her that someone was chasing her and her life was in danger. He got her back to his house that he was renting and
Dani his sister a P.I. also was their. They made a plan to keep her safe.

Cole served two tours in Iraq and that has changed him a lot. He wants to keep everyone safe and thinks he has to be in control. Cole blames himself for his friend dying and his survival. He has not had a lot to be happy about.

This has lots of action, drama and lots of bad guys with lots of power, but also some good guys and girls who are willing to protect others who can't protect themselves and do the right thing. This is a clean read. Good reminder to turn things over to the Lord and ask for help.

I was given this book by the author Susan Sleeman and asked to give honest review of it when finished.

My Review: Promise of Rain by Rula Sinara

4 STARS

I would love to go see the animals in the wild. The baby elephants seem so loveable. How can people just kill the elephants for their tusks. This romance takes place on a Busara elephant research in Kenya mostly.

The characters seem real with real hang ups. I like Anna and can see how hard it would be to finally tell the truth to everyone about having a daughter. I can't imagine hiding a daughter for 5 years from everyone.

Anna is doing research on elephants sounds also she is raising rescued elephant orphans after their parents are killed. She is raising her four year old out in the wild.

Jackson Harper is asked to go and see how her program is doing. It will give his project some of her funding. He is surprised to find out she has a daughter that is his. Anna was his best friend growing up. He can't believe she hid this from him.

Pippa is four years old. She is raised at a elephant research camp. She is darling. Her friend is a year older and his mom is her nanny.

This is a clean romance. Also enjoyed reading about the elephants.

I would read more books by Rula Sinara in the future based on this book.

I was given this ebook to read and asked in return to give honest review by Netgalley.

My Review: ONCE IN A LIFETIME by Jill Shalvis

4 STARS

I love Lucky Harbor. I have not read many of the books but would love to read them. I admit their were a lot of love scenes that I skipped over but the rest of the book I loved.

Some of the characters were so cute. You just wanted to take them home with you. Some of them made you laugh a lot. Some were hot. But they made you care for them. It made you want to visit.

Of course the setting for this Lucky Harbor was a new bookstore. Of course I love books. It is also set in Lucky Harbor, Washington.

The plot Aubrey hears an idea of making things up to people that she has wronged in the past. So she makes her list. Gathers up her courage and starts trying to make right.

It had some nice surprises in the story. I also laughed and smiled a lot reading it. I love stories that have community of caring people. We get to see a lot of characters as Aubrey tries to make amends.
The only thing I did not enjoy was all the love scenes.

I would read more books in the Lucky Harbor series.

I was given this ebook to read for purpose of reviewing it and being part of it's blog tour.

Getting Rowdy (Love Undercover #3) by Lori Foster

4 STARS

This is book #3 in Love Undercover series by Lori Foster. So lots of old characters are back plus a lot more. This story is steamy hot. There are a lot of love scenes that I skipped over. It also had lots of drama, some action, some really sweet tender scenes.

The plot is centered around the bar Getting Rowdy. Rowdy the new owner wants his bartender but she is always turning him down but he finds lots of other one night stands. Rowdy uses sex to get through tough times.

The bar used to be a place where you could get drugs easy. Rowdy has been cleaning up the area.
One customer who made deals with old owner wants Rowdy to make good on the deal. When Rowdy finds out the guy brought is little kid Marcus with him goes outside to talk to him.

Avery gets Marcus inside. Rowdy ends up fighting the guy and a second guy comes out with big knife and cuts Rowdy's back before he gets both of them taken care of.

The drug dealer had lots of drugs and guns in his car so his kid will be safe. Rowdy sees himself in Marcus and wants better for him.

Reese one of the cops that he has been friended by because of his sister Pepper's marriage to Logan another detective. He gets emergency custody of Marcus. His mother was found overdosed. Reese's wife Alice and Marcus start connecting right off the bat.

Pepper stays with Rowdy after he gets hurt to help take care of him. Then Pepper's past comes to be a danger to her and Rowdy wants to keep her safe with him.

I like all the different characters and how they are helping each other out. I was surprised by some of the twists in the book. Can't wait to see if Dash or Cannon is the next character to get his story told.

Bare it All (Love Undercover #2) by Lori Foster

4 stars

I liked Bare it All. But it had to much swearing and sex scenes. The plot was a little complex. A bunch of the same characters that have been in her books before are back. I always like to see them again. Though I felt I had missed out and want to know more about Trace's story line. I missed that one.

Bare it All takes place right after Run The Risk ends. Reese's apartment is a crime scene. He needs a place to sleep so he is offered Alice's couch. Reese feels he owes Alice a lot. He wonders how she summed up the good guys and bad guys so fast and was able to give Logan a gun.

Who knows if they would have all survived if Alice hadn't noticed everything and reacted right. Reese was handcuffed to his bed. So was his boss. Rowdy would have been killed. Logan and pepper would have walked right into the mess without a gun. Only Logan was shot in the arm.

Rowdy stopped by Alice's apartment he realized to that she was scared of something. He was used to watching over his sister and keeping her safe. Now that Logan was going to do that job he was at loose ends. He did not like how calm she was after the shooting when she said," It's better when they are dead" Instead of getting all of her story Alice was getting into his head.

Alice was afraid of Reese and his dog would go back to his place. She was nervous after everything that had happened. She had been dog sitting Reese's dog he had rescued. She worked out her apartment and kept to herself. Only talked to Reese after he got his dog.

Reese did a quick search of her apartment and found a bunch more weapons but not all. When she confronted him he admitted to it. She showed him all her weapons. Alice had been kidnapped and held for over a year. She was not going to be helpless anymore.

Reese and Rowdy were joining forces to keep an eye on her. While Alice and Pepper were shopping at same time Reese & Logan were interviewed by prosecutor and internal affairs. (because they fired and killed bad guys in Run the Risk) After Pepper left Alice noticed two cars meeting and saw a girl with bandaged arm taken from one car to another. She knew something was wrong and followed them to a seedy place.

She talked to guy to let her use his phone for help and once in the room the guy got between her and the door. She tasered him got restraints on him and then tasered him again got him handcuffed to pipe. She got the girl out of their and asked her if she wanted to call the cops. or she would take her where she needed to go. She wanted the bus station. So Alice gave Cheryl money for ticket. Her special cell number and a code word if she was in trouble.

Rowdy got stopped at a light and lost her for a bit but found her as she was coming out of house with Cheryl and followed to bus station. Called her and told her to go back in and wait till he got back. Rowdy went back to the house and saw two other guys go in and three guys go out. Then followed Alice back to her place.

Lots of action, gun fights, fist fights and falling in love. Because Alice did what she did and not only the one girl was taken to be a drug mule their was a ring. Rowdy never thought he would be helping the cops and calling them friends. Now one was going to be his brother-in-law. I can't wait to read Rowdy story in the future.

My Review: Pirate Vishnu

4 STARS

I enjoyed reading Pirate Vishnu. The mystery kept you guessing the whole way through the book. I liked the characters.
I was disappointed that we did not see more of Lane. We do get to see a lot more of her best friend Sanjay.

Jaya Jones is teaching at a college. She is working on a paper to get published. Their is another teacher that is trying to get tenure too. Only one of them will be picked.

One day a older gentleman Steven Healy comes into her office with a treasure map and tells her Great Uncle Anand that she thought of as a hero was a thief and had stolen from his family. He wants to read his letters to get clues what he did with the treasure.
He agrees that she can keep the map for a day. He agrees to meet her back in her office the next day. Then he will tell her more about the missing treasure. He gets murdered that night.
Jaya gets mugged that next day and the map, her computer and phone stolen.
The police question her about Steven's murder and when she had met him and why.
Jaya decides to check more into her Uncle's death which was the week of San Francisco 1906 earthquake and fire.

It is exciting. She ends up going to India and runs into a lot of the same people from San Francisco.
Lane thinks she is in danger from one person and Sanjay from
a different person.
Their is humor, history of San Francisco and India, pirates, magic, danger as they rush to figure out what is going on. Some surprises that I did not see coming and a some that I did see.
I hope to see more of Jaya Jones in the future.
