The Cowboy's Christmas Courtship (Cooper Creek #6) by Brenda Minton
4 STARS
Gage Copper got injured in world finals bull riding. He decided he needed to come home and make amends for his past actions. Gage is the 11th child of 12 in his family. They are a big family. Rich in money and good health. They care about their neighbors. Gage has been angry for a couple of years since his brother went blind.
On his way home he sees Layla Silver trying to get her cows back into the through the fence and off of the road. Gage stops to help her even though he is in pain and still in leg brace and doctor told him to take it easy.
Gage knows that one of the biggest mistakes he has had in the past is with Layla. He needs to make it up to her. Layla does not want help especially Gages. He hurt her in high school.
Layla went to college for one semester than had to come home after her parents died to raise her younger brother Reese. Now Reese is a teenager and getting drunk, skipping school and not helping her. Layla is working two jobs plus taking care of the small herd of animals. She is still not making ends meet.
Her mother taught her not to share their troubles especially her father's drunken abuse. She was only 19 when she got custody of her brother. She has been praying for help but she does not want Gage's help.
Gage is determined to help Layla especially with her brother Reese when he sees him drunk. He takes Reese to work on his family' ranch and then he started to teach him to ride bulls.
This is a clean read. I liked how Gage ended up helping Layla when things got even worse for her. The characters were good. I could not think how crowded and hard it would be to raise 12 children. It was a good enjoyable story. Plot was believable and easy to follow.

An Imperfect Witch (Witch Central Series: Book 1) by Debora Geary
The tattoos on your heart matter more than the ones on your skin.
Two years ago, Lizard Monroe was Berkeley's newest delinquent on parole. Now she's a hot young realtor with a great life, an awesome guy, and enough friends to chase away the ghosts of her past.
Almost.
The crystal ball has spoken - life isn't done messing with her yet. And neither is the need brewing in the eyes of the man she loves.
The eve of Halloween approaches. And whatever the sexy poet realtor wants to believe, moving beyond your past isn't the same as facing the future.
This is the first book in my new Witch Central series, featuring my well-loved clan of modern witches and those who love them. Light contemporary fantasy with a good dose of humor, a little romance, and characters you won't want to leave
My Review: An Imperfect Witch
5 STARS
I count the days till the next Debora Geary story comes out. This did not let me down.
I love her world. Where it is normal for witches to have real power, a sense of community, a place where they see a problem and try and help whether big or small. Where family dinners are not rare but often and crowded.
Some of plot twists I figured out where it was going early and others I was surprised with. Did not put the book down till it was read. In fact put J.D. Robb book down to start reading An Imperfect Witch.
The setting for this book is modern day Berkeley, California where a big group of witches live.
Their is plenty of drama, lots of love, lots of food and Halloween fun. It is also a clean enjoyable read.

The Reunion: The Secret of Cypriere Bayou by by Jana Deleon
4 STARS
Wow this book had some twists and turns I did not expect at all. But others I figured out or guessed on. This ebook has two stories in it. I am going to review the first one Reunion then read the next one than review. So I don't blur the lines.
Tyler is finally back home in Parish. He plans to open a security business soon as his license accepted by the state. His father wants him to take on protecting Joelle. The last of the three daughters to come back home and spend two weeks at the family LeBeau mansion so they can inheirit the money their mom left them after her stepfather died.
I have read the first story but missed reading the second story. I enjoy reading Jana's stories.
It has a bunch of mysteries in it. Ghosts, hired killers, reuniting lost sisters, romance and danger. All taking place in a big mansion off by itself in the swamp. Their is some humor, some secret passage ways and some love scenes I skipped over.
Joelle has not been back home since she was 4 years old. When after her mother died her stepfather separated the three sisters to different relatives. She receives a certified letter telling her about her stepfather death and what was left for her, but all three girls have to live at the house for two weeks for them all to receiving it.
Joelle has had some scary stuff happen to her lately. Her car vandalized. That a client's husband wanted to know where his ex-wife was. Joelle works with abused women as a social worker and works at a hot line. So she is willing to take off for two weeks.
Joelle thinks she will be safe at her family home but finds that danger has followed her. She is grateful to see her sisters again.
THE SECRET OF CYPRIERE BAYOU
This second book in this ebook collection. It has some of the same features as Reunion. Their is a mystery in a haunted or cursed mansion in the bayou. The home has all these secret tunnels in them that the servants used so they were not seen. A missing girl that was supposed to have gone to the mansion. A caretaker who took off all of a sudden.
Now another woman Oliva has come to the mansion. She is a writer and writes ghost stories after staying in old scary places. The people in near town warn her it is haunted, but that is what she wanted. Of course their is a storm when she comes and her car slides into a ditch.
Oliva thinks someone came into her room while she was in the tub. She hurries and dresses gets her gun and heads downstairs where she heard a noise. Suddenly she is taken by surprise and her gun taken from her.
John has taken the caretaker job. He had no idea someone was going to be their. He was planning to search the house till he found evidence of his missing sister.
They both realize soon enough that they are not the only ones in the house. That person is up to no good. Oliva finds the secret tunnels. They are kept up pretty well.
It is full of mystery and suspense right till the end. Every time things calm down something else happens. Their is one love scene that I skipped over. But I did enjoy the story and wished it did not end where it did though.

MY REVIEW: The Money Bird
4 STARS
The Money Bird made me think I want a puppy. Then looked around at my two sleeping dogs in my bed and thought again. Their dogs are so well trained of course they go to train them once a week or so. The animals are a big cute part of the book.
Janet MacPhail is a animal photographer. She owns a Australian Shepherd named Jay and a orange tabby Leo. She is dating Tom. She is very caring and curious. Janet's mom is in a nursing home and a lot of the time does not know who she is. Or does and wants to go home.
Tom he owns Drake a Labrador Retriever. Tom is a ethnobotanist. He teaches at the college. Just got back into town after a couple of months off researching.
The mystery starts off right away when at a dog training exercise at a small private lake with a island in the middle. Drake instead of bringing back what he is supposed to brings back a bag with a torn $100 bill and a long feather inside with blood over the bag from the island.
Their are some funny scenes in this book. Starting with the day after at the veterinary office where she is doing a day in life series. It gets funny but not going to spoil your fun.
I guessed just a little of the mystery but most of it was surprised at what and who was doing what. So lots of twists.
People who do not like animals probably won't enjoy this mystery because animals and birds are such a big part of the story. I would love to see the art show with all the bird exhibits and wood panel they talk about.
I did not realize how big a problem animal smuggling is. I have seen some beautiful birds and thought I would like it. Then I realized how long some of them can live and what a mess they make. So I will stick to my two dogs and cat. I would like to train my animals more. I never thought to get a fan for dog in car. My daughter's dog loves the car but I will only take him for rides when a lot cooler temps.
I would read another mystery book by Sheila in the future especially would like to see Janet and Tom again.
I was given this ebook to read and agreed to write a honest review of it for the blog tour.
