Holiday Hero by Shirlee McCoy

Is a short novella that starts off strong and keeps up the action. The characters are likable. The plot is someone breaks into Emma's restraint and demands the money. She fights back and is hurt. Emma's old best friend is their with his K-9 dog.
Emma has moved back to her home town to take care of her Aunt Bea who has memory problems.


The only real problem with the story is that it is too short. Would have liked a little more of everything.

Rescuing Christmas by Terri Reed

I enjoyed Rescuing Christmas. Too see some old friends from previous books and meet new ones.
This is a short novella. Clean Christian for both stories.
This story starts off with Lily running away from her kidnapper in the woods. She has no idea who or why she was kidnapped. She runs across a road and almost gets hit.
Jarrod was coming to Sagebrush to get his dog some training from Lily when he almost hits her. He sees she is injured and calls for help.
Jarrod is asked if he will help guard Lily and she can still help work his dog.
Lots of action, Drama and faith in God. I like Lily and Jarrod. Liked also the glimpse of how different K-9 dogs are trained.

Out of Harm's Way by Lindsay McKenna

Out of Harm's Way is a short novella. If you want a book you can read fast this one works. The characters are strong, both from Texas and ride horses.
Madison thinks she can be safe to go look at the horses by herself and gets kidnapped. She is hit. tied up with her legs tied together under the horse and a hood over her face.
Travis is a Navy Seal. He has a place where he can watch the border and is a sniper. His orders are to rescue her because they are coming his way.
They are attracted to each other right away.
Their is one love scene that I skipped over. I wish it was longer.

Any Time, Any Place by Merline Lovelace

Any Time, Any Place has more meat to the story. I liked the characters. Especially Anna's family. Their is a couple of love scenes that I skipped over.
Anna and Duke are undercover in Ukraine as a married couple and she recognizes some relatives from when she was 10 visiting with her Grandparents. So the whole village comes to meet them.
Lot of history, humor, action, romance as they try to stop a terrorist attack.

Christmas stories seem to be the best ones. This one has the best characters, tough challenges that seem almost too tough. Sacrifice to make someone else happy and people coming together to help.

Will Desarro has plenty of personal issues. But he tells no one his problems. Will is shy and suffers PSTD. He is interested in Miranda but she triggers his attacks. He tries to stay away from her. Others are trying to get them together especially his boss and Miranda herself.

Miranda runs a Elderly residents. Because of all the people who are staying away because of the fire she might be going to loose her home and business. She thinks a lot about Will ever since he showed up when they had to evacuate to help her move the residents.
One of her ladies Mrs. Litey thinks he is her dead son home from the army.

Will visits Mrs. Litey when he thinks she won't be their. After Will's visit Mrs. Litey attitude is so much better. He can get her to take medicine or eat if she has been refusing.

The whole town of Sweetheart has been hurting since the wildfire did so much damage to the town and businesses. They are having a Wedding that they are giving away for free trying to get the word out that they were back in business.

It deals with the real problems of PSTDS and Alzheimer. Plus tough economy makes it a struggle for a lot of people to stay in business and take care of each others problems. This story is a romance that leaves you with a smile. That together people can help each other through tough times. There were a couple of love scenes that I skipped over.

One scene in the book was they were back looking at a old gold strike that still had old equipment talking about bringing tourists to the old claim and letting them pan for gold. I would love to be able to do that. Take a nice horseback ride and go panning for gold for afternoon. Of course when they were checking it out it was in Dec. A little too cold for that. But fun to dream of doing.

My Review:The Unpleasant Neighbor by A.B. Stonebridge

This is a short story. It has interesting characters. I would like to know more about them but for a short story it works.
It is violent but clean. Even the murder is really clean.

Rafe is a private detectives. He won a lottery and bought a house. Has a office in it. I like him, but I don't know if I want to read more short stories featuring him.

He is hired by a wealthy woman to discover if her husband was cheating on her.

I did not care really about the murder victims or murder. I was more interested in Rafe's new dog and girl friend.

My Review: The Royal Ranger

I love this series. They say this is the last book, but I won't mind if more come out at all. I would read them.

The plot is years after the last book and things have changed a lot. Will is in a depression state. He has refused Ranger assignments. Horace and Cassandra are frustrated parents at wits end. plus Cassandra is running the country. Halt has a plan.

The main characters are back but most of them have a small part except Will and his new apprentice.
I love these characters. They are so likable so real to me.

Even Tugs are back.

The setting is at least 16 years since we have seen them. Araluen is still ruled by King Duncan but he is ill so Princess Cassandra is running the country.

Once I started the book I did not want to put it down till I had finished reading it.

I hope this book will bridge a new series starting from the old one.

Fans of the series will love it. It is aimed at boys but all ages can enjoy. My daughter was in High school when she started reading the series. So I love it. My friend and her family a mix of ages girls and boys have all read the series too.

My Review:The Seduction of Miriam Cross by W.A. Tyson

This is a more darker detective mystery than I have read lately. It deals with murders of women now and here in our country. So it is not a light subject but a important one. Miriam Cross was murdered and her niece hired Delilah's Detective Agency to find out who killed her.
I like Delilah detective agency. The women come from different background and skill set. One was a Nun, prostitute,
a teacher, and Delilah herself a lawyer. These women work well together. They are very interesting characters.
I like them.
Delilah goes beyond what she is hired to do. She cares about her co-workers, client and women she has met along the way. She is single with a tragic past. She owns horses and lives in a old house.
The suspense is good and you are not sure who all is involved with the murder till the end. Or the full motive of why she was killed. Their are plenty of suspects and motive as they try and unravel Miriam's life in hiding for the past year.
I would like to read more about Delilah detective agency in the future. Get to know her employees a little better and see what they are up too.

Let It Snow by Emilie Richards

It is the first story. Jo gets a package from her Aunt who died while she was out of the company on a long business trips. It asks her to help her finish her daughter's wedding quilt. She knows that she won't be around for her wedding.

Jo goes to the family cabin in Dec. She is going to search for scraps of material for her part of the quilt using the bride and groom's childhoods material.
The first person she runs into is her old fiancé who rescues her. No one in their own families know how close they got and their plans of the future.

They both try and hide the box of clothes she is looking for so they can spend more time getting to know each other again. It is cute short story.

You Better Watch Out by Janice Kay Johnson

It starts off with drama when Ella's car is stolen with the quilt top finished with her part she was going next stop the post office.

Ella runs after her car and crashes into Brett. Ella convinces Brett to follow her car.

Brett is having doubts about his job after losing a case. He decides that he would rather be helping Ella find her car.

Both Brett and Ella are dealing with feelings about their past and trying to decide on the future.
Has humor, drama and car chases too as they fall for each other.

Nine Ladies Dancing by Sarah Mayberry

Title really does not fit the story. Rachel when she was 15 overheard Leo talking bad about her. Now she finds out that he is back home and the lady who is going to help her finish the quilt is his mother. Rachel has to deal with her past hurts. Leo is dealing with a death of a friend and his own hurt body.
I needed more from this story.
I was hoping for more of the story when they all would be back together.
