Scents and Senses by by Loren Secretts (Scents and Senses, #1) $25 Amazon or Paypal Giveaway

Scents and Senses: Supernatural Friends. What the fairy tales didn’t tell you

Playing the role of a knight in shining armor is more complicated than it seems in the storybooks, as sixteen-year-old Joy discovers when she repeatedly comes to the rescue of a fifteen-year-old human. But when she meddles in the girl’s social life, Starra sends her packing.

Starra is determined to completely dissociate herself from the subterranean creature that has manipulated her life and cast her into the limelight. However, her resolve is soon tested when she becomes involved in a critical situation where supernatural assistance can enable her to carry out a daring plot.

Eventually, Starra’s involvement with her new other-wordly friends extracts a heavy price when she is beset by challenges that range from the down- to-earth struggles of a typical teenage student, to the realm of the fantastic. Nothing prepares her, however, for the ultimate challenge.

Author Loren Secretts

Loren Secretts was raised in a book-filled home, in a sleepy east coast suburb of the US. These factors are undoubtedly responsible for her early design of a number of exciting imaginary worlds that she could escape to from time to time during her childhood.
In her teen years, between schoolwork and lending an ear to her friends, Loren had less opportunity to go AWOL. Instead, her experience as a confidant to others inspired her to major in psychology in college and earn her M.A. in the field on the west coast.
As an adult, Loren has found fulfillment in her work with children and families for more than a decade. Her passion for writing was revived when she discovered that she enjoyed delving into the human psyche to write psychological reports.
But clients’ reports are safe with Loren, who guards secrets fastidiously. Indeed, one of her aspirations is to work as a psychotherapist for the CIA, but since she now lives with her family in Canada, that dream will have to await its turn…

My Review:Scents and Senses by by Loren Secretts

4 STARS

I loved the first part of the book. The second part of the book was almost like a new story. Where it had a very slow build up again, introduced a whole new bunch of characters and countries. Then again came back with a strong finish. Personally I think it would have worked better for two books. It was written to have two more stories to come.

It is part fantasy and part everyday life off of the California coast on a island. The fantasy part has a underground people called Deems. We mortals can't see them, but hear them we can. They really are not supposed to mix with humans. Some do and you have demeans. Who at 21 years of age have to decide which people they want to live with.

The Deems are a shorter race with good and bad in them. Joy is a deem. She is worried about her sister Radiance who is a Deeman. She wants to give her one good human friend. So Joy has been shadowing Starra to see if she can be such a friend. Now you are not supposed to introduce yourself to a fivetoe being. Or getting involved with them.

Joy saves Starra not once but twice. She also gets her a lot of attention that Starra does not want. She wants Starra to be popular.
Joy loves her adoptive sister. She wants the best for her.

Radiance is visible to fivetoes. She is not allowed to live among the fivetoes till she is twenty-one has to choose. She would be super smart and a athlete in fivetoe world. She is weaker to Deems. She gets teased a lot too.

Starra is a teenager. She is the only child. Starra has two cousins that she is close too. She also has a good sense of smell. Every time Joy is around her she smells Vanilla. Her mother is French and owns a dress shop. Her father is a science dr. Starra is no athlete.

Dew is Starra cousin and good friend. They walk to school together and hangout too.

Brook is a senior. He finds out a lot of secrets about Starra, Joy, Radiance and Tag

Their island life gets evil and the friends get together and come up with a plan to rescue it. It is full of drama, humor, action as they come together. No one besides their group knows about what they plan.

The next part of the book Starra starts off in France. Her next two years she is apart from all of her family and friends except for emails and phone calls once in awhile. So we get to find out why she is in exile and get to meet whole lot of new characters. That we build up to knowing slowly. Real slowly. As new and old friends help each other again.

I am willing to read the next book in the series. See what happens next. I wonder who the next book will be about.

I was given this ebook to read so that I can give honest review about it.
