Crow's Feat by Ken Casper

5 STARS

Jason Crow is back in a new story. Crow's feat is the second book featuring Jason Crow.
I enjoyed the first one As the Crow dies. They are both murder mysteries. Both keep the suspense high till the end.
Jason is not your average hero. He was a double amputee injured in Veitnam War. Jason was told he would never walk again.
It has been eight years since the last story. Jason is now married and a father to 3 almost 4 children. Jason is in the business of restoring old houses, also they have started growing grapes and making jug wines.
He is well liked and sucessful. He is gathering old milatary uniforms for a the July 4 exhibt at the local mall. He gets a call from a Colonel Bartholomew saying he can have his uniform for the exhibt and could he come and get it. Also he has a matter of a personal kind he would like to discuss with him at the time.
Jason goes the next morning to pick up the uniform and finds nobody is thier but the door was not shut all the way. Jason goes into check on the Colonel thinking he might have fallen or something. He finds him murdered with a knife in the back.
He calls the police and reports the murder. He walks around looking for a place he can sit to wait for the police without touching anything.
Later he finds out he is in charge of the estate. Jason figures out and gets involved to find out if the rumors about the Colonel is true and if he did abuse children.
Jason still struggling to do a lot of things but he seam like a real person to me. With real problems and struggles to do what he thinks is right even if it causes more pain and greif for him. I like Jason and would love to read more stories with him solving murders.

Image in the Looking Glass by Jacquelyn Cook

4 STARS

This story is set at the closing of the Civil War in Andersonville, GA. To me I really some of the horrors that prisoners of war faced. With all the horrors of people not having enough food.
This story is a suspense story who you are never sure of who is doing what to whom. I kept guessing all along the book. I would say I guessed right at one time I did but kept changing my mine again and again.
Jacquelyn painted pictures in my head with her words. I would read more books from her again. This book is a clean read except for the truth of horrible conditions of war.
Caroline Hannah had to leave her collage because of the danger of war. Her father wanted her to be safe with relatives close to Anderville. Her Cousin Penelope wrote her to come stay. When Caroline got to the Plantation she recieved a letter letting her know both her father and her fiance had been killed in the war.
After reading the letter Caroline ran and hid in the garden weeping. She over heard her other cousin Sophronia saying it would be better if Caroline would leave.
Even the cook kept telling Caroline to leave the plantation for her safety.
Caroline could not leave, she had no money and no where to go. Her cousin Sophronia was welcoming to her face but when she had attack and couldn't remember her name she wanted her gone.
Penelope seemed to run Looking Glass plantation and after she heard of Caroline's father dying she was not so welcoming after all.
Sophronia son came to visit for short time and everyone spoiled him. He wanted to marry Caroline but she wanted to just be friends. Everyone was preparing for the wedding even after she kept saying no.
Accidents kept happening to Caroline and she was told a witch wanted her to leave.
Caroline got to meet an army officer that was at the Andersonville prison camp and he told about the horrors he kept seeing they did not have enough room, medicine or even enough food for them and hundreds of them kept coming.
Caroline was falling in love with Jeremy but he never spoke of love or a future with each other. Caroline's dog hated Jeremy.
Jeremy was wounded in the war and walks with a limp. He lost his family home and worse his family all died because of the war.
It was a sad time in our history but I did like a glimpse of what that bit of time looked like. I also realized how important the cotton gin was.

Champagne Kisses by Zuri Day

4 STARS

Champagne Kisses is a Drake family story. Thier are a few love scenes that skimmed over with. Thier is plenty of plot besides the love scenes in this book.
It also deals with a lot of issues that are happening in this modern world. Like stalking, privacy when you are alone is not always safe as you think. hidden pictures take and put on internet. Dumb mistakes that collage students too that haunt you for years.
Being a mother of two collage age girls I worry about some of these issues for a good reason.
I love the Drake family. Thier history, thier love and support for each other is wonderful. They are welcoming people into thier world.
The Drakes inheirited a lot of property. They have built up a good business and now they are expanding even built a resort on it.
Diamond and Jackson just got married and about to leave on thier honeymoon for two weeks. Donovan Drake got a phone call from his assistant that she is in the hospital and has to have surgery.
Donovan cares for her she has been thier for decades. Donovan is heir to Drake Wines Resort & spa. He is the oldest of the three Drake children. Now that his mother has married one off turns her hands to her oldest.
Jackson said how about his assistant help for the two weeks he will be on his honeymoon she could help get the reports entered in the computer and wont spill the beans to anyone.
Marissa Hayes has had bad luck with guys. Even her best friend turned into a jerk and still was. He tried to drug her drink at a bar. But a couple saw him do it and warned her.(Yeah for them) He keeps stalking her she has already changed her job once for him.
Marissa is now very causious now. But boy she is attracted to Donovan.
I look forward to the last Drake brother I am sure that this playboy will have his own book too.

Review: Mark of the Witch by Maggie Shayne

3 STARS

Mark of the Witch was a good story but sometimes it got confusing about who was talking. Thier was a lot of swearing too.
The characters all had lived before. The story jumps from back and forth between what happened thier and whats happening this time around. Who is evil and who is good.
Father Dom hated witches. His goal is to stop the witch from freeing the demon.
The Demon would come and destroy life. Father Dom had helped raise Tom since he was 10 and ordained him to help stop the witch.
Father Tom was having a crisis in faith and did not know if he wanted to stay a Father. He had requested to be released but he would help Father Tom with this last mission.
Rayne Blackwood is a Wiccan high priestess and trusts Thomas.
Indira has given up being a solitary witch, She has lost her faith. Then she dreams she is being sacrificed and her love betrays her and pushes her off the cliff. Her two sisters are with her and they have a plan in place. Only trouble is she has dark hair and dark eyes and dressed like she was in a harem. She wakes up from the dream that seams so real with marks on her wrists where she was tied up. Indira calls Rayne for help.
Indie does not know whats going on or what is happening to her.
Father Dom seems to know that Indie needs to find amulet and take it to a portal by certain time and date to help free the demon. She has to be stopped and the amulet destroyed for good.
Father Tomas sees Indie on a video of her with dark eyes defeating someone. Then he sees her on the roof of her building where she could fall off. Her back has been whipped strips of her flesh torn away and bleeding. He gets her back to her apartment and before he can do much Indie wakes up. He tells her what he found then pauses her back is healing. Rayne jumps up and sees it disappearing plus a tatooe on her back is fading.
Indie feels a strong attraction to father Thomas and realizes he might be her soul mate and he might have killed her in a past life.
The novel is full of drama and suspense and keeps your interest till the end.
But I just did not feel connected to the characters and lost in thier world at all.
I will read the next novel in the Portal series and see what is happening next.
I was given this ebook to read in exchange of honest review from Netgalley.

When he confronts their gorgeous teacher, he's unprepared for their searing attraction. Evie is his best friend's sister—off-limits unless he's willing to risk his heart. Dante has always believed that love is dangerous, but that was before he had to reckon with the magic of a certain small town, where miracles do seem to happen….

My Review: Fool's Gold Christmas Now out in paperback 20/29/2013

4 STARS

Finally Evangeline Stryker story is here. I wanted to know more about her since we met her in Rafe's book. I wondered how this story would work out for her. It was done in a good way. Their are a few love scenes that I skipped over. I love the town of Fool's Gold and how they come together to help each other. I need to be more active like they are in doing good. Evangeline was not close to her family they taught her that those close to you did not love you. Her mom and her three older brothers were close until last year she hardly seen or talked to her older brother Rafe. She is living now in Fool's gold because when she was tackled at a football game and broke her leg on TV her family was watching. They brought her here when she was doped up and packed her things up and brought her to the ranch to heal. Rafe paid six months ahead on her condo she is renting. Evie told him no, but Rafe did not listen to her. Since Evie broke her leg she could not be a dancer anymore or even a professional cheerleader. She is working at the dance school and finds that she likes it and doing really well. Now the manager of the dance studio at 70 eloped and left Evie to pick up and in charge of the Christmas dance review. To a story she had never heard of and had no idea what the dances were like for it. Dante has not liked Fool's Gold he was happy living in San Francisco and being partners with Rafe. When Rafe decided to move the company to Fool's Gold he protested. Now he was working in an old building with little sound proofing. The ir was a dance studio right above him and they were driving him crazy. He was hear after work trying to call overseas and fix some problems but he could not hear the call. He decided enough is enough he was going up and talk to the dance instructer and tell her he needs quiet for a couple of weeks. He would use his charm and lawyer skills to convince her. Dante barged into the dance studio to ream at the teacher and found that he could not. He had no idea that Rafe's sister was working their. Instead of him getting to yell at her she yelled at him and told him her problems that she had to throw together a performance in 6 weeks to a story and music that she did not know. Find and Make repairs to the sets Ect. Evie the next day found her neighbor in the condo next to hers is Dante and he invited her to share his take out with her. They decide to hangout together to get through the holidays in Fool's Gold because neither one of them were used to small towns. It is fun to see all the things going on in Fool's Gold and see old friends again. I was given this ebook to read in exchange for honest review from Netgalley. 9/25/2012 PUB HarlequinHQN

The Athena Effect by Derrolyn Anderson

5 STARS

I decided on giving 5 STARS because I wanted more. I was not ready for it to end at all. I like Cal she is strong, independant, loves to read, smart and really doesn't understand what modern life is about.
Cal lives with her parents in the wilderness in a cabin. She met her first new person the Sheriff when she was 10. She hunted for meet and provided it for her family.
Her parents always told Cal not to trust people and don't tell anyone what she can do.
One day her parents were killed on thier bike and Cal was sent to live with her aunt and her boyfriend.
Cal really liked hot water. wearing clothes her mom made or some from thrift store she went to school for the first time at 16. Cal was smart. She has read most of the encylopedia and tons of books. She was teased at school a lot.
Her's Aunts boyfriend started to get ideas about her. Especially while drinking so Cal stayed away as much as possible.
One night she was in the cematary and saw a bunch of people holding a boy from school who lives close to her being beat up as a message for his brother. She told them to stop and they came after her. she hurt one and was able to reach her knife and threaten them away. The boy's name was Cal too. He saw her scars before she ranoff.
A few days later he saw her scars and realized that she was the one to help him.
Cal started calling her Calie and trying to learn more about her. Cal was living with his brother. They were bikers and had a lot of parties. Cal was popular with the girls and slept around without making any promises.
Calie was trying to stay away from him the exact oppisite he was used too. Calie helped Cal rescue his brothers pit bull from being killed by calming all the dogs in the shelter so they could rescue him. Calie loved animals and good change thier moods easliy.
Their is lots of drama in Calie's life trying to fit in a modern school, living with her Aunt and her boyfriend. Her powers start to change.
Cal and Calie are getting really close. Cal feels different about Calie than he has anyone else. Then Cal finds out about a group that Calies parents belonged too.
Someone else found out that Calie existed and wants her for his sceince experiments.
More drama of a different kind then happens in the story.
I really enjoyed it thier was a short love scene that did not get graphic but I don't like it when everyone takes it for granted.
At first glance you don't think Cal and his brother are the good guys. But the more you know you see how much they care about each other and thier good side.
This I believe the second book I have read from Derrolyn Anderson and it won't be the last one.
I was contacted by the author and given this ebook with a request to give it honest reviews when I finshed.

Don't Cry for Me by Sharon Sala

5 STARS Don't Cry for Me is a A REBEL RIDGE NOVEL. I could not put the book down. Stayed up till 2:00am till I had finshed. Warning thier are a few sex scenes but by far thier was a full engaging story in Don't Cry for Me. I did not obey the title, I cried a little. Quinn Walker has shown up in a previous book helping to save his brother's future wife Beth. Quinn has been home from the war three years and still has nightmares. He works as a Ranger in the back country in the Appalachian Mountains of Kentucky. He lives at the top of a mountain in a new small house. The land was his grandparents home. Quinn got a call from a friend from his unit about another friend that was hurt bad and does not have family or any place to go when the milatry releases her from the hospital. Quinn said he would take care of it. Mariah Conrad has spent her whole life before Afghanistan in foster care. She is afraid to be homeless again. Quinn's family is welcoming her back and are grateful because over in Afghanistan she had helped save Quinn's life. Quinn now that he sees Mariah wants to help her like his family was thier for him when he came home imjured. Quinn has lots of reasons why he brought Mariah home to heal. Sharon spins a dramatic story that draws you into her stories and makes you care what happens to the characters. It is also nice to see what the characters from a earlier book are up to now. Mariah is in a fragil state but she is a fighter, caring women, stubbern and not used to seeing a family working together. She is still saving lives on the mountain. My Loving Vigil Keeping by Carla Kelly

5 STARS

I did not know about the diaster that happened in 1900 and feel bad about that lack of knowledge. Right now I wish I had a car that was working I would go up the canyon and visit the cemetary. I wonder how many of my town of Fairview were a part of that mine.
The coals mines are a major employer of are town still today.
I loved the characters and now wonder who might have been real and what parts of the story is fiction. I could picture the train rides up the canyons so well. Carla told a compeling story of life in the coal mines of the 1900s.
I have always wondered why married women could not be teachers and when that changed.
Della Anders's father died in a mine and was sent to her Uncle in Salt Lake City to live with his family. He was well paid lawyer but his wife and daughters never welcomed her into the family. Never bought her clothes when she out grew them but a kindly librain took matters in her own and helped her to become independant and arranged jobs, lessons in sewing clothes.
Della because of her became a teacher after teaching two years in the west side of town she decided to teach in a mineing town for a year.
Owen Davis is a miner and proud of it. He is also a widower who still loves his deceased wife. He has a little girl Anghatad who is just starting school this year.
Owen is also a wood carver and he made lots of wooden letters for for the younger classrooms so his daughter would feel at home there. He was the choir directer and
was always trying to get Della to join the choir.
This is a tear jerker especially when you realize that it really happened so many men and boys that died in the mine. I am glad that I read it, eventhough I went through a lot of tissue.
I like how she told Mr. Auerbach about the children she taught. She also sent him pictures the children drew on the magic paper. I remember going to Auerbach department store. and all the windows that were decorated for the seasons.
This is a very clean read except for all the coal dust.
I was given this ebook to read in exchange of honest review from Netgalley. I also won a copy of it from LDS Retailers Blog and plan to give it to a friend to enjoy too.

The Great Gift by Misty Wright

4 STARS

The Great Gift is a good story but I never got lost in the story.
I thought Brandt was going to be the romantic lead in the story.
The rest of the characters were fine but I felt that they were pushed
to go a different direction than they wanted to go.
Everyone seemed rushed to get into a relationship too fast. Especially
Alyssa who at 26 had a lot of bad boyfriends. Almost got married to a guy
who was already married with kids. Last boyfriend stalked her and
cheated on her many times. I would figure her to be a little bit more wary.
Alyssa is tired of Brandt so she leaves her nice job to go to the outback
two work for 2 weeks as a ranch hand.
Kent is the pilot and she starts being interested in him right away.
When they finally get thier they are interupted in heavy kissing a bunch
of times.
It is a clean read all they show is heavy kissing. It was a enjoyable story
and I am sure Misty will continue to tell better stories the more she learns.
I was given this ebook and asked to give in exchange honest review from
librarything.

The Shadow on the Quilt by Stephanie Grace Whitson

4 STARS

The Shadow on the Quilt made me question what would I do if I were in this situation.
I would not be so forgiving and generous. This story dwelt with some tough issues that a lot of people find themselfs in and handled it all with such love and faith.
Juliana Sutton found a locket with pictures of a women, baby and bit of the baby's hair.
It also had a name engraven on it. Juliana found it in her husbands pants. She was hurt and so angry at her husband of 10 years.
Before she could confront her husband they heard the sounds of the fire bell ringing.
Aunt Theodora and Aunt Lydia both lived in the big house with Juliana and Sterling.
They had never married and love Sterling so much and he loves them.
Sterling had said he had to go to the office and work after dinner. When Theodora heard the fire bell and they could see the smoke of the fire right in the middle of town. They called Sterling but no one answered the phone.
The Aunts wanted to go and make sure Sterling was safe. So Juliana agreed to go with them in the horse and buggy. They found the office empty and no sign of Sterling.
They saw the fire was actually at the brothel. Two people died in the fire. One was a working lady their the other was Sterling.
The Sheriff came and told them that Sterling had run into the building to try and save her. Juliana figured out that it was not probably true.
Juliana inheirited all of her husbands money and businesses except for a trustfund for the Aunts. They lived in a big house but Sterling was building a way bigger and fancier house right out of town. Sterling wanted possesions and figured someday to run for govenor. The three of them did not want to move into the house so what to do about it was the question for Juliana.
Cass Gregory saw the fire at the brothel and hurried to find out if his mother and sister Sadie made it out. They had made it out safely. Cass for years did not know where his mother and Sadie were. Finally they found each other. He could not get Sadie to quit working and his mother would not quit working at the brothel till she did.
No one knew that Margaret was his mother and Sadie his sister. It was his Ma's wishes.
Cass was foreman on building the boss's house.
Ludwig Meyer offered Sadie and Marget come stay at his house. He had been asking Sadie to marry him for awhile.
Jenny and her baby lived in a farm house by themselves but it would not be for long. She knew that Sterling would move them to a different city so they could raise up Johnny together and know that no one would know that Johnny was born out of wedlock.
What was she going to do now? She was feeling sick and so tired all the time.
The story was well written and made you feel for the different characters and how it would all turn out. There is plenty of drama to keep my attention. The characters were all different and had good and bad traits in them. It was a clean read and had a little bit of religion in them with people living good examples of faith and bad examples. It showed all of us need work.
I would read more from Stephanie books in the future if they are as good as The Shadow on the Quilt.
I was given this ebook to read for free in exchange of honest review of the book from Netgalley.

Run the Risk by Lori Foster

4 STARS In Run the Risk is the first of a series called Love Undercover. It has lots of twists and turns. Was not sure who all the good guys and bad guys were till the end of the book, it kept me guessing. Detective Logan Riske is going undercover working in construction in his brother's company. He moved into a apartment next to Pepper Yates who is posing as dowdy Sue Leeks apartment manager. Logan is determined to find Rusty Yates who witnessed a murder of his good friend by a club owner. It took him two years to find Pepper and he wants to be close to her to find her brother. Logan knows the club owner has a bunch of crooked cops on his payroll. He is in charge of the task force to bring down Morton Andrews. Logan comes from money but both his brother Dash and him chose to work for a living. He likes being a cop. He trusts his boss that she is cleaning up the police force. He also trusts his partner Reese. They are the only two who know what he is up too. His boss does not trust Reese. Reese does not trust Lieutenant Peterson. Rusty and Pepper don't trust any cops because they saw so many crooked cops with Morton. They tried to go to a newspaper with the truth but he ended up with his throat cut. Pepper is hiding herself both looks and personality. She misses jogging, sex and her brother. While Logan is hot Pepper tries not to stare but she wants him and decides to have him but under her conditions. She stays dressed the curtans and lights off and he can't touch her. Logan agrees and they have sex a few times. He is dying to know what she is hiding. Liked the story, the characters but not all the sex scenes and swearing in the book. I liked how it kept me guessing what really was going on. I want to see what happens next in Love Undercover. 09/25/2012 PUB Harlequin Imprint HarlequinMIRA

To Have and to Code by Debora Geary

5 Stars

I stayed up till 2:00 am because I could not put the book down. I did not think that this book would be as good as the other ones in the series, but I was wrong.
In the series this book goes back to 1997 when Nell met Daniel. So I knew how they ended up lately and thier family. But I was hooked to learn about that time period in thier lives.
This book was great I learned so much about characters that I thought I knew. It also reminded me that thier is so much to learn. Like Nell's other brothers. Who are they? Where are they now?
Daniel is known as the Hacker. He gets bored easily especially with computer games. He found a new game that is a challenge. He really likes it. So he hacked in and he stole things from other players. But some of thier codes did not work and when that code did not work the game said that it needs magic.
Daniel got into the secret part of the game. He fought the Wizard and was making headway before the lights went out in the game. Daniel figured that the Wizard was Jamie one of the creaters. He also found that the second best player the gypsie was the other creater Nell.
Hacker was interviewed by Jamie and Nell and was hired to shore up thier holes in the security.
Nell is a fire witch. with other talents. She is firey with the temper to match. Her best friend is getting married soon and moving to Texas.
When the Hacker steals some of her hidden supplies in the game and then challenges her.
She loose her temper. When Jamie tricks her into meeting the Hacker she gets mad.
But after meeting him she hires him to work down in the dungeon.
Nell's mother got shown some of the future when she was born but decided that she would not tell Nell till she was older. Especially the part that said her future child will be the most powerful witch born and be in danger because of his power. (of course he is one of my favorite characters in the other books,)
I love To Have and To Code along with the other books in the series if you have not read Modern Witch pick it up you will fall in love with it too. This is a clean read.
I bought this ebook from Amazon the day I found it was out and read it right away. I want more of this series soon.

Callie's Cowboy by karen leabo

3 STARS

Callie's Cowboy is a Loveswept classic romance. Thier are a lot of love scenes in this book. It was a good plot but I really could not connect with the hero.
Callie and two other high school friends get thier fortunes told by a gypsie who is at thier carnaval fundraiser. Then she gives them a token to rember it. Then disappears.
Callie Calloway had just broken up with her boyfriend and she was not going to marry a cowboy. Later when her boyfriend Sam Sanger asked her to marry and move to his ranch she turns him down.
Callie and Sam had many break ups after he asked her to marry him last he married someone else and has a little girl. His wife left him his daughter and got a divorce.
Callie is now editor of thier home town newspaper and has a good relationship with the police and town except her boss.
Sam now divorced came home for his father's funeral. He killed himself with a shotgun.
Sam is still angry with Callie from when she refused to marry him years ago.
Sam's mother invited Callie to dinner. She always wanted them to marry. Even sent Callies articles to him while he was still married.
She does not believe her husband killed himself and asked Callie to find out. Something about it bugs Callie and she talks to the Policeman she went to high school who first got to the scene. He takes Callie's questions seriously and next day called her back.
The cop who has the case is not satisfied with the ruling and they want Callie to let
them know if she finds out anything they should know about since she is close to the family.
Sam wants Callie to stop snooping into his fathers death. He does not want anymore stories on his father. He feels for Callie still a lot of anger but can't get her off his mind. They fight a lot but fall in bed together.
Callie finds more information and calls her friend the cop. She tells Sam that the cops are still wanting more information about his father. Sam again wants Callie to let it go.
Callie is fired from her job and agrees to go and see Sam's ranch with his mother.
I just had a hard time liking Sam's attidude to his dad's death. His anger with Callie.
his marrying someone he did not love.
Callie sticks to what she believes to be right. She is not going to let a murder get away if it is murder. She risks her life to save someone else.
The fortune teller just seems unnessary but maybe if I had read the other two stories it would have made more sense.

Guardians Inc.: The Cypher by Julian Rosado-Machain

4 STARS

I listened to the book on my kindle and enjoyed it, but I felt a little lost sometimes.
I would probably not had that same problem if I had read it.
This is a clean read, a adventure, fantasy book with the main character is 15 year old
Thomas Byrne.
Thomas Byrne parents went on a two month cruise and he stayed with his grandfather while they were gone. For some reason the whole ship disappeared in a area that is like the Bermuda triangle.
Thomas grandfather feels guilty because the cruise was his gift. Morgan is 72 year old accountant. He wants to get a job so he can do more for Thomas but no one wants to hire an 72 year old.
Thomas sees an ad for a librain assistant and shows his grandfather. The ad reads different for Thomas than for his grandfather.
The job opens into a different world for both of them. Weird things happen to them.
Thomas got a job as the assistant but Morgan got a job with them in accounting. They can't talk about thier jobs even between them.
Thomas finds himself working in a place of a library with almost every book that has been written. Even some books that the world at large don't know about. books appear and disappear when he puts them into the computer.
Thomas finds out that he can read and translate all different writings.
Something as taken Thomas grandfather and as attacked him. Thomas finds himself in the
middle of a war between Magic and technology. If Thomas can't find a certain book than
magic wins and the world could go back to the dark ages like the last time the book was not found in time.
Thier is magic, elves, robots that seem life like, garoyles who come to life and many other things that Thomas thought were just myths in books come true. The world is counting on him to save it.
I would like to read the next novel and see what happens next to Thomas. Can he win the race or will all lives be affected.
I won this book from Librarything and asked in exchange if I would give an honest review of it. I would put this book in section with percy jackson, harry Potter and ranger apprentice fans to enjoy.

Silent Warrior by Donna Kauffman

4 STARS
Silent Warrior is a Loveswept classic romance. It is also the second book of Dirty Dozen.
Thier is a love scene in the book that I skimmed over.
I have now read 4 ebooks of the Dirty Dozen. I enjoy them but the how the cases get wrapped up always seems to just end. Would have liked to see more of that case ending. It does work how they are done though. Some of the characters that have minor roles in one book have a bigger role in thier own stories.
John McShane is working for a goverment agency that they call the dirty dozen. He is on one case when he gets a photo in the mail and asks him for help. John flies out
to where the photo was taken to see what he can do.
Cali Ellis was in trouble and she was not sure what to do. 10 years ago she lost her husband and then lost the baby she was caring. John was able to pull her out of her depression. Her husband of six months wrote a computer program and he was worried about it and hid part of in a safety box in the islands. Thier was also a insurance that paid out and Callie found part of the program.
She turned it over to the goverment agency without looking at the top secret program. They did not believe her and all of her apartment was taken. Then she was shot at. So she started to follow the clues to see what her husband was doing. She knows John was into secret agent type work so asked him for help or point her in a direction.
What Cali did not know of was that John had fallen for her before she was married to his best friend. He wanted to protect her.
Cali only knew that she went to the US goverment and some how they are after her. She had no idea what program could still be worth something ten years later. That people are willing to kill for.
This was a very fast read I wish it was longer though. I was given this ebook to read in exchange of honest review from Netgalley.

Woong the Schoolmarm by Dorothy Clark

4 STARS

At first part of the story I was not sure that I liked Willa she was so bitter. Then I realized how bad it would be for a while going through those issues. No wonder she
did not trust gentlemens words and actions.
Willa did keep her feelings away from the children she taught and she cared for the children. She cared and helped those around her.
Willa Wright's fiance left her by leaving her a note saying he was going west and follow his dream. Her dad left her and her mom when she was really young. Since her father did not work for the mill owner anymore they would have lost thier home too.
Her mother did all the laundry for the single loggers so they would have a home. Her mom worked all the time doing the laundry.
The new Preacher was in town and he came with a little girl Sally 5 and boy Joshua 7. His niece and nephew. Thier parents died 7 weeks ago.
Matthew Calvert was over whelmed at being a parent all of a sudden especially to a little girl. But he would love them and do is best for them.
Matthew was instanly drawn to Willa when they met and he was determined to get to know her better. He has never felt like that before.
Willa's heart hurt for the children and she was willing to help them to feel welcome at school and smile.
One of Willa girlfriend was going after the very single preacher and told Willa all about how she loved him and was sure he would see her as a wife. But she did not really care about the kids.
Willa did not believe that God loved and answered prayers. Which was a big concern of the preachers. A lot of women were setting their caps for the preacher but he was only interested in getting to know Willa.
It was a clean read and I really enjoyed reading the Wooing the Schoolmarm and would like to see Willa's friends have their own book in the future.

4 STARS Sweet Laurel Falls is a Hope's Crossing book 3 Okay was I on a emotional roller coast with this book. I admit to sharing some tears and smiling in other parts of the book. RaeAnne characters were real to me and I cared what happens to them. In other Hope's Crossing books we learn that someone is going around and helping people and the notes are signed Angel. In this the 3 book we find out who started it but others are copying the Angel. Maura McKnight-Parker had lost her teen daughter less than a year ago to drunk driving accident. She is puting on a good job to others that she is coping alright. When she is not ready to let her daughter go just yet. She is getting settup to host another Christmas Book club in her book store when a old boyfriend Jackson Lange from over 20 years ago shows up in her store with her other daughter Sage in tow. Maura had never told anyone who the father of her baby was. She never told Jackson that she was pregnant. Never told her 19 year old daughter Sage. Jackson was at Sage's Collage giving a lecture and after Sage went up to him. Sage told him that they were from the same little town and she saw his father around town. Jackson asked who her parents were to see if he knew them. She told him that she never knew who her father was but told him Maura was her mother. He figured out fast that he was the father. Jackson hated his father and the small town of Sweet Laura Falls. He left for collage and never came back to his home town untill now. He was upset to find out he was a father all these years and did not know. He was going to stay at least threw the holidays and get to know his daughter. It has been a rough year on Sage too. She really missed her younger sister even though thier was a 4 years between them they were close. Thier is not much of anything to complain about this book except I did not have tissues handy. I liked all the details about Disneyland that were included in this treasure hunt mystery book. It was a clean read. It made me want to go back to Disneyland but who doesn't.
Hidden Mickey tells two stories in one is a flashback to around the time Walt Disney died. and what the characters did and what they robbed.
The story is about a Cast member Blain Walters that is working thier during the summer. He is a School teacher and worked at Disneyland to pay for school.
Blain used to come to Disneyland a lot because his father also worked thier and one day as he was sitting on Tom Sawyer island he decided he too would work the canoe rides.
One day as he was paddling the canoe he caught the eye of a girl Missy Johansen. Missy dragged her sister onto the canoe ride so she could see Blain up close. Blain and Missy flirted and he invited the two of them to hear his band play at a local club.
Missy Johansen is Swiss and she has changed her appearance and name so she could visit Disneyland like everyone else. Missy is here in the states touring she is a big popstar. She just wants to be like others her age.
After going to the club to hear Blain's band he asked her out to take her back to Disneyland and he would show her what she missed. While on thier date they find a old walet and want to return it. The more they look into who might have owned it they discover that he died and was a prime suspect in a robbery at Disneyland. The money was never found. Never shown up and they also have half a map in the walet with clues where he hid it if he got caught so his partner could find it.
So Missy and Blain follow the clues as they are doing it, they catch the partners eye and they want the money they stole.
Sometimes the story dragged a little but it was interesting. I would like to read the other books in the series.

Heaven Sent (Amish Romance)by Becca Fisher

3 stars

I liked Heaven Sent. It is a little different from the Amish stories that I have been reading lately. Its a short story.
Miriam loves the boy next door. Jed asks her to go to the city with him instead of marriage she was hoping for.
Then a new guy comes to town and Miriam befriends him and cares about him.
I just did not connect to strong to the characters. I wanted a little more connection to others in the story.
I would try another book by Becca in the future.

The main plot is the making a reality show of dancers and after the dancers are down to certain amount all live together and live dancing competion with someone being voted off the show. But the show is cursed or is it.
Meagan Tippan had dreamed up the show but things keep going wrong. Broken pipes, fire, tornado, fights and back stabbing.
Samuel kellar is security that the studio has in charge of making sure everyone is safe. He is ex-military and is in charge of making things safe. He did not want to leave military but had to because of injury.
Meagan had to give up danceing because of a injury. She still loves it and feels making a show around it is now her dream. Meagan because of her youth is very controlling she has had to fight for a lot of her freedom and does not like to give up controll.
She has an assistant that she has to work with who is going behind her back and hurting the show. Her Uncle is high up at the studio. Kiki has a past history of making the show get cancelled.

Running Around and Such by Linda Byler

4 STARS

Running Around and Such is supposed to be written by someone who is Amish. So with that knowledge it makes it seem more real.
Lizzie Glick is the main character and its her telling the story. I had a real hard time caring about her. She is overweight, lazy and wants fancier stuff than the simple plain ways. Lizzie also talks back to her parents. She reminds me of me at times.
Lizzie is 15 at start and her older sister is almost 16 and can start dating and going to sings.
Emma is the oldest girl and is good at everything. She likes to cook, sew and willing to work hard and has strong faith. What I usually think of about the Amish women. So I judge Lizzie harder because she does not measure up for me.
Lizzie is selfish and always think that the others are picking at her. She uses food to calm her in stressful times.
Lizzie is trying to understand how finding the right man to marry that Gods wants for her.
Its a simple story with a lot more details of dailey life as a young female teens Amish life.
This is a very clean read that anyone can read and enjoy.
I will read more about Lizzie in the next book. I was given this ebook to read in exchange for honest review.

When she gets called into Police Chief's Dan Burnett office and told that it is not her case. She keeps wondering about the things like why were her high heels on the table and not on the body that fell over the balcony.
Jess does get her first case the disappearance of a young black male collage age student. He has been missing for days. Not treated the same as young collage girls that were missing at the same time.
Jess is trying to get over being mad that the case her team tried to steal was taken back. But she kept getting calls about the Dance teacher and given more information.
The coroner on the case had questions that were being ignored. Then Police Chief Dan

Impulse is the second book of Face's of Evil. I did not want to put the book down untill I finshed it. Next book up will be book 3 and then I will have to wait for the next ones. I read somewhere that it is a 10 or 12 book series when done.
Impulse takes up right after Obsession ends. It is nonstop action and suspense.
Can they find Detective Lori Wells before her kidnapper she turns up Dead.
Special Agent Jess Harris is getting texts from the kidnapper. She is sure it is
the Player who they had to let go of.
The kidnapper is different this time making little changes, showing his face here and thier are things happening back in Virgina that she does not know about.
Jess was asked to come and lead a new task force that would cover different cities and county on cases that don't fall into usuall catergories. Jess knows that soon her FBI badge will be taken away from her.
Thier are more kidnapped victims that are people she knows or has met.
Chief of Police Dan Burnett and the county Sheriff both want Jess to come to work for them. She saved the 5 girls that were missing in the area. Plus Dan does not want her to leave him again.
Back home for Jess her neighbor was murdered and Jess's home was broke into and a message written in blood is on her wall. Thier is also found a wall of pictures of who she suspects is the Player. with pictures of her cut into them.
Jess's FBI Boss thinks she has a fixation on Eric Spears AKA the Player. He wants her off the case. He is worried about law suits and complaints from Eric.
Eric is under watch back in Virgina how can he be their but sene here by witnesses. They eyed his photo. It has to be Eric or someone he works with.
Thier are detectives who resent that this new Deputy Chief job is being offered to Jess when they have the years in the police force in Birningham. But this new position was created with her in mind after watching her work with police and county and her skills in profiling.
Jess is being attacked which ever way she looks. She is even doubting herself.
I have been drawn to these characters. I wanted Lori to be found in time. I want Jess and Dan to work out and the Player to be caught. I need to go read the next book!

Obsession Faces of Evil by Debra Webb

5 STARS

Once the story start ti build did not want to stop reading. If I was not already tired I start the next book in the series.
Special Agent Jess Harris life was falling apart. Her marriage is over, her FBI career will be over soon. Worst of all because of her mistake a killer is going to go free.
Her old boyfriend back home in Birmingham has called her for help. He was the Chief of police of Birmingham. 5 collage age girls are missing. Thier is no proof of foul play or crime. They just up and left. They are not even from the same city and some in the county.
Everything the families say is they would not have run a way. Four of them are attending collage. Most have good grades, no way as far as they can see that connects the girls together.
Jess is a profiler and a good one till the last case against the PLAYER. She has worked for two decades for the FBI. She does not know what the future will be but she will do everything she can to find those missing girls. Jess wants to start by interviewing the families and see what they know that might show them a clue.
Jess fell in love Dan Burnett while they were in school together. He chose to stay at home and she chose to leave. Then 10 years ago they reconnected again for one day. He asked for help and she came.
Dan Burnett is Police Chief he has been married a few times. One of the missing girls is his stepdaughter. He does not believe she would runaway. He has never forgotten Jess and is counting on her help.
The Player is now out of jail and is sending Jess texts that is letting her know he is watching her.
The media has found out that Jess is in town and her roll in breaking rules to try and stop The Player is just adding more drama.
Jess chose to have a career over family and now she has neither. Lori is choosing to be a cop over family but is still undecided.
The missing girl's are brave and falling apart but they care too about the others. Andrea is counting on her stepfather to find her.
The drama builds slowly than you don't want to leave till the end and even them you want to read the next two books in the series Faces of Evil.

I like Aisha and would be mad if my choice was taken from me too. At first Zoltan Al Farouk bin Shamal is not to my likeing he is Arogant ,proud and he is right and he is being forced into things too.
But the more I saw and heard where he was coming from and how he grew with the knowledge that he had I fell a little in love with him too.
Mustafa is a character that I do not like at all.
Zoltan good friends I hope thier stories get told soon. because I want to read them.
Aisha is a virgin and was saving herself for the future husband she wanted to marry for love. When she is kidnapped my Mustafa and told that she would have to marry him.
Then she was rescued and thought on her way home but instead was going to be married to Zoltan right away. If she refused to marry him than he can't be King of his country but also her father would not be King or her brothers would not be King in the future of her own kingdom.
Aisha has the power to dethrown two kingdoms and she can not do it. She feels powerless and alone.
Zoltan's friend opens his eyes to what it must be like for Aisha to be forced to marry a stranger. Zoltan does not beleve that Aisha is a virgin he just thinks she is a spoiled princess.

Lydia has other ideas. Lydia thinks that Luke would be better for Greta and asks him to pray on that. If he agrees he can come courting to thier house at night on the porch but while everyone will believe he is courting her he could take the time to get to know Greta and see if that would work.

Forever Werewolf: Forever Werewolf\Moon Kissed by Michele Hauf

4 STARS
Two books are better than one. I am going to review Forever Wolf here than go ahead and read Moon Kissed ane review after.
Forever Werewolf
Is a hot book. Thier are a few love scenes that I skipped over my choice. Also some swearwords.
Trystan Hawkes is a good hero, brave, strong and different than most werewolves. He is sent to Castle Wulfsiege to deliver a package to the princple only. Trystan has never lived in a pack and he is courious. Right after he meets Alexis Conner and tells her he can only give it to her father a avalanch slams into the castle and breaks a window.
Trystan has rescued people from a avalanch before and he knows time is of the essence. The princple is sick so he grabs some other werewolves and starts them to rescueing.
he works as long as he can till he has to stop.
Trystan is so worried about the ones who are still missing but he gets the package to the princple and forgets how he is supposed to behave around him.
Alexis is always wearing sunglasses to hide how she is different from the ones around her. She admires that Trustan cared aboout the trapped werewolves and works hard to find them.
Trystan is warned away from Alexis because he is half vampire & have werewolve. He also makes a powerful enemy in Sven. People think he will be second in command soon.
Alexis is different from other werewolves because she can't shift and since she can not shift she can't have children.
Nice storyline. like most of the characters except for the ones I hate. Will read more books from Michele after I read this one.
