My review: Ransom by Terri Reed (Northern Border Patrol #4)

4 stars

Good clean action, romance ,suspense, Christian story.  This is the fourth book in the series but stands alone really well.
It starts right off with the drama and keeps going .  Liz Cantrell is being robbed then she gets a call that her sister has been kidnapped while on her honeymoon. Everybody is after a necklace even the good guys.

I like Liz she is willing to do a lot of things to protect others especially her sister.  She runs a antique store and supports her sister since she was 20.

Blake Fallon is a customs enforcement wants to capture  Idris Santini.    Blake never plans to fall in love again.  Blake is part of a group of Canada and US border patrol law enforcement  work together.

The setting was Niagara falls,  Canada

I like to read Terri Reed's books and will keep looking forward to reading more from her.

I was given this ebook from Netgalley and Harlequin.  In return I agreed to give a honest review.

Tour: Lord Fenton's Folly by Josie S. Kilpack

Lord Fenton's FollyLord Fenton is a gambler, a dandy, and a flirt-and he must marry or else he will be disinherited, stripped of his wealth and his position. He chooses Alice Stanbridge for two simple reasons: he once knew her as a young girl, and she is the least objectionable option available to him. However, Alice has harbored feelings for Fenton since their first meeting ten years ago, and she believes his proposal is real. When she discovers it is not, she is embarrassed and hurt. However, a match with the most-eligible bachelor in London would secure not only her future but that of her family as well. Determined to protect herself from making a fool of herself a second time, Alice matches Lord Fenton wit for wit and insult for insult as they move toward a marriage of convenience that is anything but a happy union. Only when faced with family secrets that have shaped Fenton’s life does he let down his guard enough to find room in his heart for Alice.

My review:  Lord Fenton's Folly

4 stars

This is a regency romance novel. I loved the characters. especially Alice.  Lord Fenton took sometime to like him. The plot was interesting and kept me wanting to see what would be next.
It is a clean read.  Lots of drama.
Alice is a young girl when we meet her.  She wants a garden for herself at age 7.  Lord Fenton helped her to get it.

Then years later we see Lord Fenton a dandy in ton.  He drinks, gambles and his father threatens to make his cousin his heir to the Earl and properties.  If he does not stop his bad habits and marries.  He needs to prove himself.

Alice has still found her puppy love for him still.  So she accepts his marriage proposal.  Then finds out it will be in name only. She is hurt.

The first half of the book is interesting look at the ton. But I love the part when they start bickering and the rest of the book.  The more you see why the characters act the way they do and understand each other better.  Has some twists that I did not see coming.

I like Josie S. Kilpack stories and would read more of her books.

I was given this ebook to read for free and in return I agreed to give a honest review and be part of it's blog tour.

My review:  Reunion at Cardwell Ranch by B.J. Daniels (Cardwell Cousins #5)

4 STARS
This is the 5 book about the Cardwell Cousins.  I liked it but it would have been so much better if it were longer. But this had to fit the pages. so some scenes felt rushed.  Lot of drama, mysteries was not sure of what was really going on.  Who to trust. There was one love scene.
The setting is Big Sky, Montana December.
Laramie Cardwell the last brother that is still living in Texas and single.
He is out looking at a possible house for a second home.  When he sees a cat burglar and catches him or her.  She kisses him to distract him to get away on a snowmobile.  He does have the stolen painting.
Only nothing was stolen.  Laramie takes the painting to have it authentic and is told that it is real.  He is offered 30,000 for it.

Laramie can not forget the kiss and those eyes.  He knows he will recognize her lips again when he sees her.  Sheriff thinks Laramie's brothers are playing tricks on him.

We see right away who the cat burglar is but not know why she wants to steal all the paintings.  There are a few other twists and turns to figure out too.

I like the characters, it is nice to see some familiar characters back again.  This book can stand alone okay.
I liked the ending.

I was given this ebook to read by Netgalley and Harlequin.  In exchange for a honest review of
Reunion at Cardwell Ranch.

My review:  :Haunt Couture and Ghosts Galore by Rose Pressey

4 STARS

Full of vintage clothes, models, murder and ghosts , Oh we can't forget the cat Wind Song that is psychic. It makes for a entertaining tale. Cookie finds her life being black mailed by her one ghost Charlotte and now there is a new ghost Sam P.I. detective from 1940s.

Cookie is single and owns A Vintage clothes store. There is a lot of information about finding vintage clothes and what to look for. Cookie always wears vintage clothes.

She has not dated but Charlotte wants her too date two different guys.  One the cop  Dylan  and the other Ken the defense attorney. It is hard to go on a date with two ghosts show up too.

Only Cookie's friend Heather knows about the ghosts.  She doesn't see them but she helps Wind Song communicate clues by reading tarot cards.  Wind Song is full of mystery all by himself.
The ghosts want to investigate a murder.  They get into a lot of trouble that will bring a smile out. I love some of the scenes where Cookie gets caught spying on the different suspects.  Like once she crawls through a bush so she can overhear a phone call.

This is a fun murder mystery.  The suspects are in the fashion industry.  The murder happens after a fashion show.  The designer is murdered and the suspect that Cookie herself finds is the model Heather.

So this ghost mystery is perfect for those who love a good time with fashion and mystery.

My review: Calico Spy by Margaret Brownley  (Undercover Ladies #3)

4 STARS

I have liked this series of Undercover Ladies.  Calico Spy fits in good with the other books about ladies Pinkerton agents. It is full of characters that I like and laughed with and cheered them on.  It is a Christian romance historical story.  lots of drama. Just a good overall story.

The setting is Calico, Kansas 1880. Katie Madison is sent in undercover as a Harvey girl.
There have been two Harvey girls murdered there. No suspects.

Kate has always been a tomboy and has problems learning how to waitress the right way.  She also has to figure out how to sneak in and out after the girls have lights out and locked in.

Branch Whitman is the local sheriff.  He does not like Pinkerton agents.  He also has no idea who killed the women and why they did it.  He has a eight year old son that he loves  He has been a widow since his son was born.

I like that there was a whole cast of characters that Kate interacted with.  Some she liked, and some she spilled stuff all over them.  Kate is smart daring, caring and struggles with her past trials in life.

I would read more books from Margaret Brownley in the future.

I was given this ebook to read by Netgalley and Shiloh Run Press and in return I agreed to give a honest review of Calico Spy.

My review:   Broken Dreams (Delos #4) by Lindsay McKenna

5 STARS

I liked this best of all the Delos series, but it dealt with real problems around the world.  It deals with the real problem of the sex trade.  Of people being kidnapped around the world.  Some is tough to read. It feels real to me.  Broken Dreams touched me and I admit to shedding a few tears.  I also wanted to cheer at one seen in the cave.

Broken Dreams is full of drama, family, some romance, a couple of love scenes at the end. Real tough talk about rape and sex trade.  I wanted some other guys stopped and hope in future books they can do that.

U.S. Air Force Captain Alexa Curver is a stationed in Afghanistan. . She's an A-10 combat jet pilot. Alexa is smart and beautiful.  She is a hugger.  She has three months left in Military.

She meets her twin brother Matt for Pizza one night and meets Gage Hunter.  Gage is a Marine Corps sniper. Gage has known Matt for years and Their older sister Talia too.  Gage is enlisted. Alexa keeps asking him to help her.  She is willing to risk getting in trouble for him.

Gage and Alexa only had three days together to get to know each other before things go wrong.  They both felt things but were not spoken to each other.

Alexa is going to work full time for her family's new security company Artemis.  Artemis is going to protect Delos 180 charities around the world when they need it.

While going to a friendly Afghan village to deliver winter clothes and shoes for Delos with other organizations to give help things go really wrong.

I have enjoyed reading the first 4 books of the new Delos series by Lindsay McKenna.  I like that they are coming out right after each other with only a month between them to start the series.

I was given this ebook to read for free by the author.  In return I agreed to give a honest review of Broken Dreams.

4 STARS

This is the third book in the new series Delos.  It has passion, danger, action  and characters that I liked.  There is a few love scenes that I skipped over.

Sergeant Matt Culver is part American, Turkey, and Greece.  His family is close.   His twin sister Alexa flies helecopters All three of the Culvers are in the armed forces.  His father Robert is a General.  His mother Dilara comes from money and runs a large global charity Delos.  Right now Matt is stationed in Afghanistan.

Dr. Dara McKinley is a resident pediatrician.  She is donating a week at a orphanage in Afghanistan.  Her sister works with that charity have of the year.  Dara and her sister agree to do belly dance  for the troops for a Thanksgiving show.

Matt sees Dara dance and knows he wants to meet her and schemes to get to know her.  He volunteers to help secure the orphanage while Dara is there.

Helped me to see what it is like in third world countries for the innocent children.  I thought the scenes were believable.  I did not want to put the book down.

I am a fan of this new series and want to see more of it.  I will keep reading it.

I was given a copy of Forged in Fire to read so that I could in return give a honest review.
There is a scene that I really liked with the main Characters at the orphanage.  Matt is standing guard so the little girls can eat their candy and not have the boys take it from them.  Then all the girls come to him for comfort.  It is sweet and sad.  Makes me want to do something for them.

Good plot, likable characters.  Some new ones and plenty of older ones from previous books.  Lots of drama, mystery and romance.  A couple of love scenes that I skimmed over.

Kai Tiernan is a mechanic and wrangler.  She has been looking for a ranch job but no one wants to hire a female for the job.  Kai is a widow and she is a vet.  She wants to find a home.

Gil Hanford was in special force.  He is now the forman of a Triple H ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.  He knew Kai in the military in fact they were lovers for five days in Afghanistan. Before he left her and never saw her again.  Kai used to be married to his best friend.

The Triple H ranch has been let go for the past 9 years.  Now they are working to get it back in shape.  They want to hire a bunch of vets to work their.

No one knows that Kai and Gil knew each other before. Kai was hurt by Gil.

I liked seeing them working together to bring back the ranch.  The characters work together really well.

The setting is a ranch by Jackson Hole,  Wyoming.

Good characters, mystery, couple of love scenes.  Lots of familiar characters from past books we see a little of them.

Jess McGregor is a widower.  He was a medic in the war.  He lost his leg in the war.  Now he is PA in a clinic.

Lacy Devane has been in witness protection and the FBI says she is now safe. She does not feel safe.  Her best friend was Jess's late wife.  Jess offered to let her come to his place and be off the grid.

Jess finds a threatening letter on his porch right after picking up Lacy at the bus station.  He does not know if someone  found her or if someone is after him.

Besides wondering who might have left the note.  They also have to worry about being outside.  It got down to -30 degree.  So they can't be outside for long without a lot of right clothes to protect from frost bite.

We do see who the bad guy is and who he is targeting pretty early.

Good fast read.

I liked the characters. Kino Cosen and Lea Atlaha.  They were so opposite in there lives.  Kino is a warrior he is tracking smugglers.  His job back home is a cop on the reservation. Lea is a pacifist.  She feels water barrels for the people who are tempted to cross the desert in summer.  She is not afraid to break laws for the greater good. Kino wants to kill the drug lord known as Viper who killed his father.

Lea is the first witness to live who knows what Viper looks like.  That is because Kino saved her.  Now Viper wants her dead. Kino wants to keep her safe so he can find him.

I can see how the debate over water in desert for illegals.  I would rather see water for the innocent.  How scary to cross it.  How the drug lords don't care for the people they get to carry there drugs for them.

There is lots of drama, action, a sex scene and a mystery for the Cosen family that I want to see how that works out.

My review:  A Winter Wedding by Brenda Novak
3 stars
Brenda again makes characters that I thought I might not like from previous story line into ones that I could understand why they acted that way in the past.  Wanted them to get there own happy story.
Kyle Houseman was a sad guy for a lot of books. He was in love with Olivia but after she moved away slept with her sister and got Noelle pregnant.  While Olivia than married Kyle 's stepbrother Brandon.  So Kyle still loves his sister-in-law Olivia and divorced Noelle.
Lourdes Bennett is a singer who is in the middle of her own soap opera life right now.  Lourdes has come to Whiskey Creek to write songs.  She wants to hideout at Kyle's farm house that he rented out. Her manager boyfriend decided at last minute not to come. The farm house furnace is not working and a storm is on its way.
Lourdes comes to stay at Kyle's home till he can get furnace repaired because she does not want to be in a public place.  Lourdes wants to have a come back album.

I liked seeing Lourdes and Kyle become friends and help each other out.  Did not like the sex scenes.
I loved Riley & Phoenix's wedding.  How all the friends helped with it.

My review: An Amish Noel by Patricia Davids (The Amish Bachelors)

An Amish Noel was a little different from the average Amish story.  Luke Bowman made some real bad choices in his past.  He has to learn forgiveness and decide if he wants a Amish lifestyle or go back to English.  I admit to liking Luke.

Emma has to learn to forgive and let go of the past too.  She is keeping some secrets that are weighing her down.  Luke broke her heart when he left and would not take her with him.  Now her father wants her to marry a neighbor widower.

I liked seeing Luke being remorseful and trying to change.  He is a hard worker.
Lots of drama, Amish life, characters from previous books are back and it is a clean read.
I really cared about Luke & Emma and wanted them to work things out.
Hannah's character is really cute too.

My review:  The Holiday Courtship by Winnie Griggs (Texas Grooms)

4 STARS
This is a tender story.   The setting for this is  Turnabout, Texas  November 1897.
It starts right out with the drama.  Hank Chandler has arrived in Turnabout with his 10 year old niece
Chloe and 8 year old Alex at the train depot.  Hank looks for his Aunt to pick them up but she sent a telegram she would be a few days late.

Chloe and Alex's parents had died in Colorado.  The same accident left Chloe deaf.  They really don't know their Uncle.

Janell overhears him about to leave the kids and luggage at train depot while he goes to rent a wagon.  She offers to take the children to the sweet shop with her to wait.  When Hank explains about Chole she offers to help them all cope.

Janell is a teacher.  She also dealt with her sister going deaf when she was 17.  So she can teach them how to cope plus take care of them for a few days.

Hank decided that he should marry for the kids sake.  He asked Janell but she said no.  Janell did offer to help him find a wife.

I loved how the kids wanted to step up and learn some sign language too.  The whole town knows that Hank went to get the kids after their parents died.

This is a clean read.  I loved watching them all get closer to each other and help each other.

Good plot, action, drama, suspense, mystery, romance and a clean read.  Characters you feel for. secondary characters that you want to know there story too.

Harper Shelby for the last four years as lived alone in a cabin with land making pottery.  After the death of her sister Lydia & niece Amelia she closed off to people.

Logan Fitgerald works for Heart a Freelance security and  hostage rescue team.  He has been hired to find Harper for her brother-in-law Gabe.

What he did do was lead killers right to Harper's home.  Now Logan is determined to protect Harper and calls in more help.

Gabe has been sent a photo of his daughter alive and part of her blanket.  He wants to find out if his daughter really might be alive. She has been gone for four years.

Harper wants answers too about Amelia.  She does not want to stay in a safe house.

Something is always happening in the story.  The characters take time to heal and workout problems and build real relationships.  Not jumping into bed.  I appreciate that life troubles don't get fixed fast. The book is made believable.  Made me want to hug my girls.

I look forward to reading more books from Shirlee McCoy in the future.  I want to see Stella and  Chance's story.

My review:  A Cold Creek Christmas Story by RaeAnne Thayne

5 stars

I wanted to read this story for along time.  It is charming, Christmas, cute characters and touched my heart. Also a clean read.

Celeste Nicholas is the main character.  She is a small town children's librarian in Pine Gulch.  She has also written a children's book.

Flynn Delaney has come back to Pine Gulch to go close his grandmother's house and sale it.  He has brought with him his daughter.

Olivia is cute, with some deep problems.  She loves Sparkle and wants to hear the author read stories. I loved seeing her healing.

Last year with the sale of Celeste's book & her sister Hope's illustrations of Sparkle had saved Christmas Ranch from closing.  Now she has to decide if she wants to sale it to make a movie.

This is a good Christmas book and I did not even cry in it.

The setting is Pine Gulch, Idaho. A small ranching town.  In December.  The descriptions were very real I could picture a Winter scene on this hot Aug. day.

I was given this ebook to read for free from Net Galley and Harlequin.  In return I agreed to give a honest review of A Cold Creek Christmas Story.

My review: Lucky Shot by B.J. Daniels (The Montana Hamiltons #3)

4 STARS

I like this series but I want answers.  The Montana Hamiltons should be read in the right order because it has a big mystery that covers the story.

Sarah Hamilton 22 years ago drove off into a river and didn't break.  She left six daughters behind and a husband that was in politics.   Now Senator Buck Hamilton is running for President.  Sarah drops back from the sky with no memory of the last 22 years.  Why did she do what she did? Where as she been?

There is plenty of drama, relationships in trouble, love scene. danger and mystery.  I know I want to find out what happened to Sarah?
Max Malone is a reporter.  He is not interested in the love triangle of Senator and his ex-wife or his wife for the last 15 years.  He believes that there is more to the story of Sarah before she even married Buck.  He also wants a shot of Sarah so far noone has one.

Someone does not want the answers to be found out.  In fact some P.I. was scared off and a reporter is missing and Max has been robbed.

Kat Hamilton is getting ready a show of her photographs.  She has some run in with Max and then he saves her.  Kat is curious about her mother and wants to prove Max wrong.

Soon Max and Kat are trying to put pieces together and make a discovery they think.  Now there lives is in danger.

My review:  The Rancher's Christmas Proposal by Sherri Shackelford (Prairie Courtships)

4 STARS

I enjoyed this book.  It drew me into the story right from the starts.  The twins were cute. I like the characters and would love to see some more of them. Clean western romance.

Tessa Spencer is not your average heroine.  She has helped her con man father in his crimes growing up.  She is talented.  Owen comes up to her with his ball at the train station.

Shane McCoy is rancher father of twins.  He is going to leave his twins with there Aunt because he is cut off from town in winter. When she loses one of the twins right off he realizes what a mistake that would be.

Shane and Tessa end up helping each other.  Tessa ends up proposing marriage and they get married within an hour.
I liked watching their lives on the ranch.

The setting starts out in Wichita, Kansas in 1886  and them moves onto Cimarron Springs. In winter.

I like the secondary characters that are on the ranch and that live in Cimarron springs.  They are good and brave.

I would like to read more from Sherri Shackelford in the future.

My review: Christmas Undercover by Hope White (Echo Mountain #4)

3 STARS

I liked it.  Lots of Action, danger, romance,  darling little girls, prayer, heroes and characters you want to cheer on. Plus it is a clean read.

This is the fourth book in the series but the first one I have read. It can stand alone really well.

FBI Agent Sara Vaughn is supposed to be on vacation but she went undercover as a trail guide and witnessed a murder.  She took off in the dark and fell down the mountain.

Sara believes a drug company is going to go forward with a dangerous drug.  She thinks they need to be stopped.  Some of the executives of the company are planning a trip hiking on Echo mountain.  Her boss told her there was no case and to drop it.  She is stubborn.

Will Rankin sees a body and hurries to help but Sara thinks he is the bad guy.  Will is a single father of two little girls.  He is alone on the mountain to pray by himself.  He is a search & rescuer.

There is so much going on.  You never know who to trust.  Sara with her head injury retreats to hiding like she did when she was younger.  Sara also decides not to let people know she works for FBI until she can talk to her boss.

The setting is the Cascade mountains.

This a exciting book, a fast read.  That I wish it could have been longer.

I would be willing to read more books by Hope White in the future.

The Amish Midwife by Patricia Davids

My review: The Amish Midwife by Patricia Davids (Lancaster Courtships)

4 stars

This is book three of the Lancaster Courtship.  It can stand alone.  It is a good clean Amish romance.
Cute baby, fun and trouble making goats.

Anne Stoltzfus is a Amish Midwife.  She also grows vegetables and sells them at her vegetables stand.  She loves babies.  Hates her neighbors goats that keep getting out of their  yard and into her gardens.

Joseph Lapp is a Amish goat farmer.  He is a loner.  Goes to church, helps where he can but does not socialize.

Leah a three month old baby that was dropped off one evening by her mother to her Uncle Joseph.
Leah is a crying baby at first because she is sick.

I like how the Amish came together to help with the need of Joseph of having a baby all of a sudden.

One scene that gave me a chuckle was a little five year old girl looking into the Midwife's bag to see if she had a extra baby girl in their to replace her baby boy if possible.

I smiled a lot while reading this book.  Made me want to try some of the produce that Anne sold.

I will read more of Patricia Davids books in the future.

This is the third book in the Dangerous in Dallas series, but first one that I have read.  This book should be read with the other books in the series.  It can stand alone.

It is full of action, drama, romance, love scenes, violence and with characters I like , ones you hate and ones you don't know if you can trust them or not.

My review:  Willow Brook Road by Sherry Woods  (Chesapeake Shores #13)

I like to visit with the O'Briens of Chesapeake Shores again.  This is #13 of the series.  I have not read the early ones but they are easy to pick up and read if your new to the series, only read a few or if you never miss any.

The O'Briens are a big Irish family who get together and eat Sunday meals. There are generations of them now.  Lots of business in town are owned by them.

This Carrie's story.  She has come back home from heart break and a career in Paris.  She is not sure what she wants to do now.  She babysits her nephew a few times a week while her twin is in medical school.

It is also the story of Sam Winslow.  Who just started a job at the local newspaper office when his sister and brother-in-law died and left custody of his nephew Bobby to him .  Bobby is six years old and unhappy.  Sam never planned on having children.

Sam's boss Mack and his wife Susie (Carrie's cousin) were going to adopt a little girl and the birth mother changed her mind.  Susie wants to be close to Bobby, but Sam has already met Carrie.

Lots of drama, family that make you just want to keep visiting with and catching up to old friends.  I really like how it all came together.  I admit to shedding some tears.  Only part I did not like was that it ended.

My review:  When Secrets Strike by Marta Perry

5 STARS

Good clean suspense Amish romance.  Lots of Mystery, crimes, action in this second novel about Laurel Ridge.  Most of the characters are back that we met in Where Secrets Sleep.  Now someone is setting fires and other crimes.  No one knows who is responsible.

Sarah Bitler is on her way to work when she sees a barn on fire.  She is not sure what to do first. She decides to go to the house and make sure the person is out and not passed out.  Then she checked the barn to make sure no body was in there.  Then raced to nearest call box and called 911.

Because she called so quick the fire was not able to spread.  Volunteers were called out.  Then there were more fires.

Sarah is Amish.  She owns a Quilting and fabric shop with Jillian as a partner. She is considered a old maid by some.

Firefighter Aaron King is a widower with two little girls.  He is Amish.  He wants to buy a farm close by his parents farm.  He and Sarah are good friends and neighbors.  Sarah has loved him for years but has not let him know.

Jillian is English and has inherited a lot but she has to stay a year and make a profit out of the building she inherited.  She likes Nick the Mayor.  She is from a bigger city.

Sarah, Jillian and other women in the area are concerned because the fire department needs better equipment and uniforms.  So they work together to figure out how and what to do for it.  Both Amish and English women are working together for town.

I liked reading about these characters and seeing them care for each other and concerned for their neighbors too.

I was given this ebook to read by Net Galley and Harlequin.  In return I agreed to give a honest review of When Secrets Strike.
