The Blue Door (The Threshold #1) by Christa Kinde

4STARS

This is a very engaging story. Lots of different types of angels, all of a sudden Prissie can see and talk too.
Prissie is the main character in book 1. She comes from a big family with 5 brothers living on a farm. She is 15.

Prissie sees a stranger up in one of their trees barefoot. She said something to the boy and she thinks she is talking to someone else. He is used to not being seen but tells her his name is Koji. Then her mailman Milo that she has had a crush on for years ignores the teenager and just talks to Prissie.

Milo when he knows that Prissie can see Koji asks her to come with him if her mom will let her. Milo takes Prissie and one of her brothers to a used bookstore. They tell her they are angels. That some angels have regular jobs. Others like Koji are observers and not seen. Their are many angels of different types.

Also in the bookstore their are two doors in the back her brother can only see one. He can't see the blue door, or Koji.
Prissie freaks and spends the rest of the day at her fathers bakery down the street. She stays away from Milo for a while and ponders the question are their real angels? The more she knows is weird for her. She finds out that their is a war going on with angels and the fallen.

I liked The Blue Door. I liked all the characters and the different angels and types of angels. Prissie finds out that her house is crowded with all the different angels their.

Prissie has other teenage problems she feels that her best friends are replacing her. They all are changing and some are not for the better. Their is a new girl in town who tends not to like her but likes her best friends.
A boy who is always giving her a hard time is now working with her father at the bakery.

I can't wait to read the next book in the series. The Hidden Deep coming in Apr, 2013.

When Mac his guided to her estate they make a deal. He and the children can stay and Mac will teach her what he can till his new ship is ready to sail and he finds a new nanny to sail with him to take care of the children. Mac would rather do than show Bea how to run the estate. He yells a lot but is turning things around slowly.

The children's father regrets that he signed away his children and is looking for them. His father is a powerful Earl and if he does not have the kids won't recieve money for their care.

It is a nice story. Too many love scene details in it. I like that Bea wants to learn things not just let people around her make the decisions. She also wants to help her people. Mac is big, rough and loud. But he cares for the kids and his willing to go to jail for the kids safety.

I was given this ebook to read as part of Librarything early review program. The contents are my own opinion of the story.

The Guardian by Beverly M Lewis

The Guardian (Home to Hickory Hollow #3) 4 stars

This is my first book that I have read in Home to Hickory Hollow. I can see how the other books would fit in but I thought the story was good at standing on its own.

I really enjoyed reading the Guardian. Though I have to admit to shedding a few tears reading it.Their were parts in it that I laughed and smiled too. Especially the pied piper when the two women realized they were following too. Both books I have read today brought tears.

A mother's worst nightmare she can't find her little girl. After searching all around their house and property they figured she must have fallen out of the buggy and the other children were a sleep and did not see. The community right away start searching for the little girl they search and pray all night long.

Jodi Winfield is house sitting for her cousin while they are on a vacation and taking care of their cat. Jodi is having a hard time getting over her sister Karen's death. She has stopped praying since it did not save her sister. She does not want to have children. Her fiance does want them and loves God. He is going to teach abroad for a year teaching english in Japan.

Jodi is preparing to run in a marathon so she goes running and in the middle of nowhere finds a little girl a sleep on the side of the road in her underwear. She has a bump on the head and some other cuts & road rash. The little girl wakes us and cries for her mama.

Jodi finds no amber alert for a lost child. She does not understand the little girl. Jodi does pick her up and take her back to her cousin's house. She gives her first aid, a bath and some food. The little girl just clings to her. As Jodi is trying to get through to the police she gets a call from her boss telling her that she is being let go. Only a month before the new school year.

Her cousin's husband she is housesitting for is a cop and suggests when he hears she speaks no english where the Bishop of the Amish lives and he might know where she belongs. Explains that they don't turn to police they stay seperate.

The Amish men search all night. Then take turns searching while others feed animals and return. So far they have found her dress and hair pins. The men are split on calling the English police or not.

When Jodi finds the Amish school house Sarah recongizes where she is and points and Jodi going slow finds Sarah's house.

Maryanna is a widow raising four children on her own. She is so grateful to have her daughter back home safe. She invites Jodi into her home for lunch. Sarah and the children call Jodi Sarah's Angel. Sarah does not want Jodi to leave. All the children are drawn to Jodi.

It is a good story and blends both the Amish and English together. How they help each other in many ways. They are the answer to others prayers. Their is a lot of grieving talked about how each is different but some the same. Maryanna over loosing her husband.and a few other widows and widowers in their Amish district. Jodi getting over her sister's death. Just by sharing can make a difference in peoples lives.
I would read Beverly's books in the future based on how much I liked the Guardian.

Sand Castle Bay (An Ocean Breeze Novel)

Sand Castle Bay (An Ocean Breeze Novel) Book 1
The first novel in this new series was good. I already want to find out what happens to Emily's sister.

Emily broke up with her boyfriend because she wanted to make lfe away from Sand Castle but she always thought that Boone would be waiting for her to come back. When Boone got married to someone else right after she was hurt bad.

Boone was hurt when Emily broke up with him and left town. He was hurt and thought it was over so he found someone else to love and marry. Now he is a single father in thier hometown after his wife died. Boone is really close to Emily's grandmother Cora Jane still.

Now Emily and her two sisters are back in town to help thier grandmother get the family restraunt back open and repaired after a hurricane. No one told Emily that Boone is now a widower or that he owns three restraunts of his own.
Boone's son B.J. is close to Cora Jane and spends time with her too. B.J. gets attached to Emily right off the bat. Boone is afraid he will get hurt when Emily leaves.

Everyone wants Emily and Boone to workout thier differences and get back together except Boone's Former Mother-in-law. Working on opposites coasts make it hard to have a relationship too.

This is a character driven novel. Lots of characters. B.J. is cute all by himself. I like the characters and wanted everything to workout for Emily & Boone too. I want to read the next two books now but have to wait till they come out.

I was given this ebook to read in exchange for honest review from Netgalley.

When the stalker comes back using his property Lincoln stands in the shadow and yells at him. When he mentions if he is the stalker of Mrs. Walker he runs off but not before Lincoln recongizes him.

When Lincoln tells the sheriff he knows who the stalker is. The Sheriff will check into it,but doesn't trust him to tell the truth. Later Lincoln finds out that Mrs. Walker was actually his first love Meg.

You do realize who is after Meg but you don't know why till the end. Lincoln tries to figure out what happened 18 years earlier and who set him up and why.
Lots of colorful characters. Lot of them are back from the first two of the series. Their a couple of love scenes that I skipped over. I laughed a few times. Felt sorry for everything Meg goes through. Like how strong the women characters are. Yes Meg gets hurt but she also strikes back.
I hope their are more books in the Rebel ridge series.

The Wanderer by Robyn Carr

5 STARS

The Wanderer is the first book in the Thunder Point series. It takes place on the Oregon coast in a small town. It is a beautiful setting for the small town. The town is a good community. Robyn Carr's novels are more of a community not just a slice around one couple to be. I look forward to reading many more novels in this new series.

Hank Cooper finds out his good friend that he was supposed to meet in Virgin River to go hunting with has died. He has no family left and died a little suspicously. So Hank who is between jobs came to pay his respect to his friend.
Hank finds his friends Ben shop is a mess. It is falling apart, mold everywhere and being closed for weeks with power off all the bait is dead and stinks. Ben also left it to him plus a lot of land on the beach and mountain.

The first part of the story introduces Cooper to the area and the people. He gets involved when he sees three kids picking on one. Then the same kind of thing later. Thier are a lot of new people that have moved into the area or about to we meet.

Cooper meets Mac right away. Mac lives in Thunder Point and is a deputy. Mac has lots of contacts. Mac is a divorced father with three kids and a aunt Lou.

Thier are some sex scenes. It is rich in all the characters that you meet. It shows the different relationships of about 5 couples. Some are just new, friends without benafits, teenagers and some in secret. But thier is so much more to the story.
It also deals with bullys, relationships, budding friendships.

I enjoyed reading it. I was given this ebook to read and in return asked to give honest review from Netgalley.

The history part I really did not know much about it at all. I liked the plot. The characters and that it is a clean read.

The Alpine Xanadu: An Emma Lord Mystery #24

This is my first time reading an Emma Lord mystery their is a lot of history that I don't know so at times I was a little lost and others why this was important to the story. I imangine if your a long time fan you would like this more than me at times.

The Characters are well developed and you can tell most of them have been around along time with full backgrounds. Emma and the Sheriff sometimes I wondered at their relationship the way they talked to each other or yell. Other times I was laughing at them and with them.
Emma is the owner of a newspaper and online news for the town of Alpine. Their is a radio station that is competition for the news. Vida works for both of them. She is mad at the Sheriff for something in the past. She knows everything that is going on unless it has to do with her blind spot Roger.
Their is a new rehab and mental health center opening up. They keep lots of secerets. Close by a man fixing something is killed. It seems to be accident or was it.
One of Emma's reporter does not realize that the Sheriff is living with her. He does not trust the sheriff.
The Sheriff's daughter has come to town after she has some problems and feels only safe living with him. So he moves back to his house for a while. He plans to sell his house and wants to expand Emma's and keeps getting bigger and bigger. She is worried how they will be able to pay for it.

Their is lots of small town information in the story that makes it nice to know. I wish I had read earlier stories about Emma Lord seems like a lot goes on for a small town. I will be on the lookout for more of Mary's work in the future.

Winter in the small mountain aerie of Alpine should be as quiet as new-fallen snow on the Cascades, but from the Grocery Basket to the Venison Inn, the town is humming. At the Alpine Advocate, editor Emma Lord and her staff are on deadline with a feature about the opening of RestHaven, a new rehab and mental health facility. Front Street is buzzing with gossip about Emma’s recent engagement to Sheriff Milo Dodge. And now that fool Wayne Eriks has climbed an electric pole in the middle of a storm and got himself electrocuted.

Sheriff Dodge doesn’t buy the idea that Wayne’s death is an accident. But how—and, more important, why—he died is only one of the conundrums that keep the sheriff and Emma working overtime. Why is RestHaven giving Alpine so many restless nights? What to make of allegations that someone’s trying to kill the richest man in town . . . or whispers of a rash of indecent behavior at the local high school? After Vida Runkel, the Advocate’s stalwart House & Home editor, disappears into thin air, Milo and Emma suddenly have too many loose ends to solve before they can even think about tying the knot.

Featuring beloved characters from the series alongside some sinister new ones—not to mention a mystery that will shake Alpine to its core—The Alpine Xanadu may be Mary Daheim’s most delicious novel yet.

The Fairest Beauty by Melanie Dickerson

4 STARS

The Fairest Beauty is a retelling of Snow White. It is just loosly on it. I personally am impressed with it. The characters all have different names. Some of the same qualities you expect and some you have no idea. Their are new characters too.

Of course their is a wicked stepmother who hates her stepdaughter. Not that she acknowledge that she has one because she faked her death at age 2. Then she got rid of all the servants who would realize she was alive and well except for two kitchen cooks.

Sophie was a servant that was always getting into trouble trying to help others. She was always punished harder than others. Now she was in trouble because she rescued puppies from being drowned.

Gabe is a second son who enjoys life. When he hears that his brothers betroved is still alive and in danger. He decides that he would go rescue her because his brother has a broken leg. He wants to prove to his father and brother that he is good enough.

Their is one dwarf in the cottage of seven three days journey they are told they can find safty there. The others are not was you might expect. Though one sneezes, one grumpy, one is not to bright, ect. I like the cottage of seven and would love to see more of their stories told. They are welcoming and appreciate Sophie's cooking and care for her.

I enjoyed reading Sophie's story. She is kind and always tries to help others when she could. Because of how she lived her life others returned some of the favors she gave when she was in need.

Heir to a Desert Legacy by Maisey Yates

3 STARS

Heir to a Desert Legacy was a lot more than I thought it would be. It was a romance but it was also a story of two different people who had faced abuse in thier early years. The abuse changed the people and how they reacted to others, standing apart from others who could hurt them again. How love of someone else could help the healing if they let them into thier hearts. So yes it was a romance but they had to let others in. Thier were a couple of sex scenes.

I liked that Chole was strong, smart and even though she was around abuse she was still willing to build a life with her half-sister and her son. She made very unselfesh
decisions.

Sayid seems hard and does not care about anyone or anything. He feels duty for his country and will give his life for it and protect the future king with all that he has.

This is a quick read. Makes me glad for my family and freedoms that we have.

Why Resist a Rebel by Leah Ashton

3 Stars

Boy was I confused by this book. NOT the BOOK'S FAULT. Where I get some of my early books for review this title is listed as A Father For Her Triplets and the picture showed three cute kids. The discription did not mention kids. I was waiting for the kids. So I looked others places under the title author book showed goodreads had this book under A father for her triplets including picture with kids. But it also had this book under Why Resist A Rebel same book discription.
Needless to say their was no kids in this book.

Why Resist a Rebel is in the new Harlequin line called Kiss

I would have liked the story a lot better than I did because I kept expecting triplets.
Ruby Bell loves working of movie sets. She has no home just goes from one set to another only possessions fit into a suitcase. Ruby has a lot of issues to work out.
Devlin Cooper is now on the set replacing the actor who was going to get his break. His last job he was fired so his manager talked him into this one.
Devlin bumped into Ruby on set and because she was a little distracted did not recogonize him till the producer followed Devlin. Devlin liked Ruby's looks but she turns him down. Ruby does not date actors.

Devlin looks terrible their are a lot of rumors going around about him. He has lost a lot of weight. Does not show up on time to the set. So his manager got him a driver, who is supposed to get him where he needs to go. Devlin does not care for it. The only thing he has enjoyed was riling Ruby. So he decided to be a demanding actor like some others. He asks her to get him weird stuff and has her running around.

Their a few love scenes. They both don't want a relationship for different reasons and are hiding from it. Ruby notices at last some of things wrong with Devlin but she does not ask him questions. I wish it showed a little more of them building a relationship with each other instead of the bedroom.

Cardwell Ranch Trespasser by B.J. Daniels

4 STARS
I got involved in the story. I got mad at Dana and her husband Hud. I could not believe how fast they turned away from a goodfriend and believed a stranger over thier friend. I know I am way into the story when I feel so strongly about what is going on.
Dana Cardwell was excited to find a cousin she never knew she had. She invited her to stay at her ranch. Even offered to pay her way. Dana got her good friend and business partner to go with her to pick up.
Hilde Jacobson was the owner of Needles and Pins. She left work to go with Dana to the airport to pickup Dee Anna Justice. She also agreed to go on a picnic with them up to the waterfall. Hilde was not as trusting of Dee and asked her questions about her life. Dee tries to knock her into the falls and at the last moment grabbed her and pulled her back.
Deputy Marshal Colt Dawson has wanted to date Hilde. In fact he took his break across the street at the cafe so he could see her. He did ask her out and she turned him down. Hud noticed that he was taking his break at the cafe too.
Dee Anna Justice or who ever she is. Has taken her id and plans to see what she can get. Dee acts so sweet. She wants Dana's life with Hud not his kids. She can see that Hilde does not fall for her act. She warns her away at the falls. Dee is good at making others look bad while she looks inocent.
Rick Cameron has followed Dee to Montana. Dee tells everyone that he is a old boyfriend that was not taking the break too well. Also says he drinks a lot.
Hilde tries to get everybody to believe that Dee is not who she thinks she is. That she tried to kill her. That Rick was going to tell her the truth. Colt starts to believe her and risks his job for it.
I could not put the book down till I finshed it. I wanted to scream and shout at these characters. I believed them and wanted them to see the truth sooner.
Thier are a few love scenes and viloence in the book.
I was given this ebook to read in exchange of honest review from Netgalley. I like B.J. Daniels books and plan to read more of them in the future.

Well late last night I got a suprize email with the link to the new Gabby Grimm Fairy tale Little Red Riding. So first thing this morning I started it. I wish I could say I could not put it down till finshed, But I ended up spending the day at doctors and hospital. I took it with me and read every chance I had. Finally I was home and could finsh it. I really enjoyed it.

I like Gabby she is smart, fast thinking, cares for others. She is loyal friend. A lot of the same characters from the previous two books are back plus a lot of new ones. Sam her special forces boyfriend is back and is made a deputy for short time.
The characters are likeable and you want to have everything turnout okay.

The Sheriff's daughter has been kidnapped. As they race to get her back safely before they can get even with the Sheriff. The Sheriff takes his family when daughter is safe and disappears from mob.

Gabby quickly realizes that their are some corrupted cops,FBI Agents and a whole bunch could be envolved. So she tries to reach higher in different offices and get around the bad cops. She figures how to play some of the bad guys while trying to figure out how to keep the Sheriff's family safe to come back into town. She is working with FBI,State cops, her own department,Sam special deputy.

It is full of action, suspense, gunfights, bad cops, good cops and bad guys. It is also a clean read. Good drama and some romance thrown into it also. So if you like mystery, police detective you will like Little Red Riding Hood & the Secret cookie Recipe.

I also liked the acknowledgments. First time to have my name in one thanks. It helped keep me from worring more while waiting in the doctors and hospital to have a book I was enjoying.

I have enjoyed reading Sara Barton mysteries and will continue to read them.

A Plain Death: An Appleseed Creek Mystery

A Plain Death: An Appleseed Creek Mystery by Amanda Flower
It is the first book in An Appleseed Creek Mystery. It is a good clean entertaining read. It is hard for me to say how well the suspense and mystery part was because I read book 2 A Plain Scandal first. So I already knew some facts about the storyline.
I like this series and see that their is going to be a third book. I want to read that someday.
Appleseed Creek is a small town in Ohio. It has a collage and a Amish community. It is mostly a friendly town. It has some interesting characters some you love, some you hate and some are dumb.
Chloe Humphrey does not even make it into town before she becomes involved with three characters. She is 24 and working at a new job at the collage in the computer department. She sees a girl in a dress walking down a road and a truck with two guys trying to get the girl in the truck. Chloe asks the girl if she needs help. The girl gets into her car with her.

Becky is leaving her family and the Amish faith. She directs Becky to the house she is renting. When the door knob comes off as they enter Becky calls her big brother to come help. Becky needs a place to stay and she just plans to stay with Chloe. It is a big 3 room house. Becky wants to paint people. Her family wants her to marry the Bishop's son.

Timothy had left the church earlier and works with wood. He is good looking and kind. He wants his sister to go back home. Before he leaves for work the next day drops off groceries for the two of them.

Chloe is not close to her father he blames her for her mothers death and sees her once a year if that. He moved across country without her when she was only 15. Her best friends family let her move in with them. Now she was alone again. Chloe wakes up to Becky cooking her breakfast. Chloe agrees to let her stay for a few days. She knows how it is to not have a home.

Someone wants to hurt Chloe or Becky. Becky makes a mistake that costs dearly. It turns a lot of people against the two girls. Chloe wants to find out who and why was her brake line cut.

The police force in town is three. So the sheriff is not against Chloe asking questions about what is going on. Just being new in town she has friends in the Amish community that the sheriff does not have.

The dean of the collage wants Chloe to let go some of the personal of her staff. They need to trim the budget. So she is not making friends their.
I felt like the ending was a little rushed would have liked a little bit more.

I had a hard time waiting for this to come out. It was worth the wait. I was trying to decide why this series is so good. I think because the passion the different characters feel about their lives. Nell her family and her business.Caro and knitting,Nat & yoga,Lauren finding the right home for people. Aaron cooking. The characters are all passionate and caring for each other. Even groucy Marcus. It makes the readers passionate too for more. I have read all the books in this series more than twice. It is that good for me.

Cassidy is the newest witch to come to Nova Scotia. She is world cass fiddler from Ireland. She also has a little magic.
She has three weeks off from touring and decides to visit Fisher's Cove. A friend told her about it and the rocks agreed she needed to go their.
Cassidy hears the rocks sing to her. She listens to the planet.
Cassidy finds the unexpected besides good food she is drawn to Marcus and Morgan. She also finds that talking about magic they freely do in Fisher's Cove. In fact she finds a lot of witches their. They are all wanting to listen to her playing.
Aaron is glad to feed her in exchange for hearing her anytime. He is the one who recongizes who she is. With all the children listening to her play it makes me want to go put some Irish music on. And I am not one who likes to listen to music much.
The passion of Cassidy's music comes across so well.
They are have duel's in realm Gina and Marcus are teamed up together.
Lots of music, laughter, food, magic, babies and love in this book. The plot is simply well told story of finding a home and roots.
I was given this book by the author and asked to give a review of it when done.,Excited that their is more coming next month.

A Plain Scandal (Appleseed Creek Mystery Series #2)

Well I goofed again and read book 2 before book 1. Oh well now I know what I want to read next. I like the town of Appleseed Creek.
It is a collage town and a Amish & English both.
The characters are interesting. Chole is a Computer expert at the collage. She rents a old home and her roommate used to be Amish. Chole likes Timothy.
Timothy is a cabinate maker and has his contractor license. He has his first job. He is the oldest child in his family and decided to leave the Amish Church before he was baptized.
Becky has left the Amish too. She is 19 and Chole's house mate. She is a waitress and loves watching tv especially cooking shows. She got into trouble with the law and is on probation and community service.

Someone is going around and cutting off Amish girl's hair. One of the girls who was attacked was Sadie the Bishop's daughter. Then things take on worse trouble and someone is murdered.
The new Bishop has made it hard on Chole blaming her for Becky & Timothy leaving the Amish Faith. Even though they made that decision before she moved to town. He is threatening to banish Becky's family if they visit them again. He has very strict rules.

The story kept my attention. Has a good mixture of drama, action, community and mystery. Chole is going to find out who is cutting the Amish hair. Is it a hate crime? or something else. The sheriff does not mind her questioning people about their problems. In fact the Sheriff wants to use her.

Some of the Amish are very welcoming of Chloe into their homes and hearts. Her father remarried and doesn't have much to do with her but her good friends don't leave her alone for the holidays.

Chole's house was sold to another collage professor and he does not like having Timothy repair things in the home. He also goes in without notice.
Two guys who gave Becky and Chloe problems in the first book have got out of prison because they testified against someone else the police wanted worse to get off the street. They are starting to come around again.

It is full of action, danger and drama. How do they destroy Desdemona. How can the curse that is on Spencer's family line and the one on Kaitlyn's family be lifted? Plus can they find the missing treasure. Their are a few love scenes in the book towards the end.

The Other Side of Us by Sarah Mayberry

3 stars

This was about 2 people in the middle of personal criss who don't have a good first impression and then they have a lot of sex fast. They are interesting characters mainly just the two of them and their dogs. The plot is good but way too much sex scenes.

I really like Oliver. He found out his wife of six years has been having affair for almost all of it. He has gone to take care of empting a house is aunt left him and his brother. He plays the guitar and mixes sound at recording studio that he co-owns. He believes in being faithful and really good guy. He has a 18 month old puppy.

She has a long road in front of her still to go. She is worried about being able to keep her job. She produces a soap opera. She is pushing her body to hard. She has a cute dog too.

Oliver goes next door to say he is staying in his aunt's house to take care of getting it ready to sell it. He doesn't want the only close neighbor to freak when seeing lights after a year of no one living their. Mackenzie has just finshed pushing herself too hard on physical therapy. She is about ready to throw up and needs to lie down when she has Oliver knock. Mackenzie is rude and slams door on him as she runs for bathroom but doesn't make it before throwing up.

After her dog escapes her yard twice Oliver brings him back over and suggests they talk about fixing the fence. Her phones starts ringing and its her boss that she has been trying to get a hold of for days and slams door on Oliver again.

That night rain comes down hard and almost gets into her house she tries to clear drain and cant and tries to sweep water away from her house. Oliver sees her out in the storm trying to save her house. Comes out to help her in middle of night. He is able to get the drain open and helps her sweep water away from house. Showing how nice he is to help someone who was rude too him twice.

They start a better relationship both leaning on each other after hard phone calls. I like that they both are helping each other but than they fall into having sex .

The dogs are a big part of the story too. Mackenzie has Mr. Smith and Oliver has a girl dog Strudel. I like them a lot.

Wow lots of action and drama from Idaho to Switerland. With Americans,Germans,Russians and Swiss as main characters. This book follows Einstein's Trunk. I have not read it but events from it are mentioned a few times and now I want to read it too.

Rulon used to be a agent from the State department in Switzerland in the OCD. Now because of events in Einstein's Trunk every six months the Russians send over thier best fighter from new agents to a bar in Idaho to fight Rulon.
Rulon tries to talk the guy out of fighting through his wife translating. Yohaba instead of translating tries to egg on the Russian.
Boris is the Russian who is sent to fight Rulon. The fight is over fast. Some skinheads want to beat up Boris and Rulon takes on all four of them. They take Boris out to thier ranch to stay.
The skin heads are members of the Nazi group in Idaho and they don't take it easy that 4 of thier guys got beat up by one guy. They want revenge and start a chain of events.
In Europe one main Nazi group has stolen two virus and one of them is the plague. They have to be stopped. Helmut finds out that Rulon Hurt is in Idaho so he leaves the case with the viruses in a train locker and flies to Idaho for revenge on Rulon.
Thier is lots of action and everytime you think it will slow down something else happens. Boris and Yohaba get close and rely on each other as they try and find out what is in the locker. I did not want to put the book down till I had finshed reading it. If thier is a third book I will buy it and read it for sure.
I like Rulon and would like to see more of him again some day. Boris has lots of surprises in him. Yohaba finds it is not so easy to solve problems with killing someone.
I like it that everytime someone started to swear they got stopped. This is a clean read but a lot of fights in it. Spies in it.
I never realized how much of what Hitler did was planned out to such a extent and groups are still doing that today.

Out of Her Depth is exciting adventure, mystery. Did not want to put it down. It makes me want to learn to dive and go exploring.

Wynne is likable, brave and trying to be fearless. I feel like I really connected to Wynne. Wynne booked a trip to Aruba for her 25th
anniversery months ago. That same day she found her husband in a affair. It was already paid in full and she could not get her money back she decided to go by herself.

Wynne has two grown daughters. She stopped going to church because of her husband is a leader and she feels like everyone is judging her for the divorce when it was her husband chooseing a younger woman to have an affair with. Even her mother wants to see her back with her husband.

Wynne decides to go ahead and learn to scuba dive as she already signed up and read the book. Wynne really likes diving. On her first day actually diving in the ocean she finds a diamond ring that is big and expensive. She is excited to find it. She shows everybody in the boat when they are done. Someone points out that their is a engraving inside the ring.

That evening she went to a jewelery store and asked them if anyone reported it lost. Is their anyway to trace owner of the ring since it was one of theirs. When she gets back to her room at her hotel her room has been broken into. It is a nice hotel they move her to a different and bigger room.

The next day she goes to her diving class again they are going on dives to different spots. Everyone knows her room was broken into.
Wynne forgot to take the ring out of her pocket. She decided that that she would put the ring in the big hotel safe when she got back too the hotel.

She had a message at her hotel from the jewelry store that they found the owner, would she come back to store at 9:00 pm. She was wondering why that late and specific time. She decides to go way earlier and finds out who was owner for sure.

Ronan was helping with the dive. He is around her age and was flirting with her. Ronan worked with insurances agency and found out that the woman who's ring it was murdered in Florida. Her husband Stefan Melampus a refuted mobster was facing a trial for killing his wife. Ronan tells her not to trust the cops because a lot of them want him to be found guilty.

Wynne does not know who to trust. The hotel big safe was broken into the second night. She had forgotten to put the ring in the safe.
The FBI sends two agents down, the mobster sent a representive down and a lawyer. All three groups want the ring. Even their is someone that attacked Ronan and her threatened her want the ring.

Wynne likes Ronan and trusts him a little, as she figures out who to trust with the ring. Is Melanie alive or is the woman her sister Michelle?

Lots of diving that sounds exciting to learn and see everything, lots action, lots of suspects, drama and even some romance. It is also a clean book. I would read Brenda Hiatt books after reading this one.

Let the Dead Sleep (Cafferty and Quinn) by Heather Graham

4 stars

Discription below taken off of Goodreads.

Wow a lot of suspense and murders. I guessed some of the mystery but not all of it. I have a feeling that we will see more Cafferty and Quinn in the future. Their is some paranormal in this book. This is one dirty book, They get covered in mud and other junk a few times. Plus their is some love scenes too.

Danni's father just died and he tells her to not sell the shop and read the book with the light. Danni finds out that she did not know about a lot of things her father had been doing all his life. Now Danni was supposed to pick up where he had been and making a better world.

Michael a PI demanded that Danni step up for the job like her father would and to meet him at 5 and the address.

Danni had a customer come and demand that she come to her house and buy a bust that was cursed. She said it killed her husband. That she had to come. Before her customer came to the shop Danni had painted her portait before ever seeing her. When Danni got to the house she found Michael their searching the house for her.

Her car was parked in driveway, her housekeeper said she was imside but could not find her. They all searched till they found her in the attic she had hung herself. The bust was missing having a thief steal it at same time she killed herself.

Whoever had the bust was soon killed. Even if you were just looking for it you might not survive. The body count kept rising as they trailed the bust. People were willing to pay a lot money for it. They thought they could get power owning it.

The characters were a wide range of people, some good and some bad. The settings were creepy for some of them. I don't think I would break into a cemetary at night and go into a crypt too. And a New Orleans one too.

Plot line was good. I could not get that interested in it like others of Heather's novels.

I was given this ebook to read and asked to give honest review of it by Netgalley.

It was stolen from a New Orleans grave – the centuries-old bust of an evil man, a demonic man. It’s an object desired by collectors – and by those with wickedness in their hearts.

One day, its current owner shows up at Danni Cafferty’s antiques shop on Royal Street, the shop she inherited from her father. But before Danni can buy the statue, it disappears, the owner is found dead…and Danni discovers that she’s inherited much more than she realized. In the store is a book filled with secret writing: instructions for defeating evil entities. She’d dismissed it as a curiosity…until the arrival of this statue, with its long history of evil and even longer trail of death.

Michael Quinn, former cop and now private investigator, is a man with an unusual past. He believes that doing the right thing isn’t a job – it’s a way of life. And the right thing to do is find and destroy this object weighted with malevolent powers. He and Danni are drawn together in their search for the missing statue, following it through sultry New Orleans nights to hidden places in the French Quarter and secret ceremonies on abandoned plantations.

Cafferty and Quinn already know that trust in others can be misplaced, that love can be temporary. And yet their connection is primal. Mesmerizing. They also know that their story won’t end when this case is closed and the dead rest in peace once again

Baked Alaska by Josi S. Kilpack

4 STARS

Baked Alaska: A Culinary Mystery

This is the first Culinary Mystery that I have read. I now have a new bunch of Mystery books I want to read. This book does stand alone but are built on a lot of the same characters. The characters are well developed. I do wonder what happened in Boston last year. The book brings the reference up several times.

The Suspense and Mystery kept me guessing to the end. I did like the ending a lot. This is a clean read. One thing they do is talk about food and put the recepie in front of the chapters. Me personally would like them all in one spot if I was going to use them.
It would make them easier to find on a ebook.

Sadie is a mother of two grown children. She planned this vacation cruise for her family to get together and spend time to get to know her boyfriend Pete. Pete has just retired from the police force. Her son Shawn is almost ready to graduate from collage but lately has been keeping secrets from her. Her daughter Breanna is planning her wedding and hopes to use this time to help her. She has been living in England and her fiance lives their too infact he will inheirit a title and a estate.

Sadie has so many hopes for this cruise. But instead of getting her son to open up to her he seems to be hiding things from her.
She sees him arguing with a lady on the ship but tells his mom its nothing. Breanna knows some of Shawn's problems but does not feel like it is better for Shawn to tell her. Even Pete learns his secrets before she does.

Since it is a Alaska cruise they are on and does get colder at night time. Sadie recongizes the lady that she saw arguing with her son.

I liked reading Josi S. Kilpack's book and will lookout to read more of her work in the future.

Frost Burned (Mercy Thompson, Book 7) by Patricia briggs

5 STARS.

I was glad that Frost Burned was in my mail box today. I sure did enjoy reading it. I made the mistake last week in reading the first chapter that was on her web page.

Mercy gets into a lot of trouble again but so does most of the people she knows too. It starts as she and Jessie are shopping on Thanks Giving black friday. She gets into a wreck and then feels Adam and their pack are in trouble. No one answers her phone calls. She gets a ride with the tow truck driver for her and Jessie to her shop. At her shop is a wounded drugged Ben and
Gabriel hiding in the shop.

Adam told Ben to get to Mercy and protect her and Jessie. Mercy needs to get help but anyone she tries to call is not answering their phones so she decides to try to get Samuel but he is not home. His love is afraid of werewolves and is Fay she is able to do first aid on Ben and Mercy tries to contact Adam for more information through their mate bond.

She decides she needs to get Jessie and Gabriel to a place that is safer for them and takes them to Gabriel's mom. She hopes that anyone searching for Jessie would know that Gabriel and his mom are feuding.

She tries to call her friend the vampire and to check on Kyle at his house. They find him tied up being tortured and rescued him.

They don't know who is after them. Who took the whole wolf pack and drugging them. They claimed they were the goverment. What do they really want.

Every move they make they find more danger and action. They find that they do have friends that are willing to risk a lot to help where they can. It is fast paced story. I enjoyed it.

Love Mercy and how she risks so much to do what she feels is the right thing to do even if she gets hurt in the process.

the wicked wives:A Novel based on a true story by Gus Pelagatti

4 STARS

This is a well told story. Can't believe all the murders for money.
This is based on a true story it also has a suspenseful question of who was the lady dressed in black.
I had never heard of this Poison murder case of all the wives who worked together to kill their husband for insurance money, till I was contacted by Gus Pelagatti to read his book.
It is not a uplifting story. The wives are having affairs with more than one partner. Most of them had an affair with the tailor. They knew he had lots of lovers. He was even
married himself. He convinced them to kill their husbands for money. He would help them get insurance on their husbands without them knowing and they would split the money.

The story is laid out in away that showed how the proscuter figured out his cases. In fact it even showed some of court cases. Their even showed some of the outcomes some guilty and some innocent.

I enjoyed the story and could not believe the outcome.
I was given this ebook to read by the author and asked to give honest review of it when done.

When I was an eight year old boy I overheard adults in my South Philadelphia neighborhood discussing 17 disenchanted and unfaithful neighborhood wives who murdered their husbands for insurance money, love and lust. This was a fascinating topic for an eight year old boy eavesdropping on adult conversation. The adults were discussing the true story of Philadelphia’s infamous 1938 murder scandals. My fascination led to obsession. I knew that I had to write about these wicked wives someday.

After I became a trial lawyer in 1964, I researched the poison murder cases in the law library and obtained newspaper accounts of the scandals dating back to October, 1938. Thereafter I conducted interviews with judges, lawyers, police, witnesses, sheriff deputies and neighbors who knew the defendants.

One of the chief conspirators was a tailor who seduced, then persuaded at least twelve wives to poison their husbands for insurance. The setting for his seductions was the couch in the rear of his tailor shop, located two blocks from our family home.

A fascinating conspiracy unfolded in these murder cases. The poison gang’s colorful and hilarious characters helped to deep-six a minimum of 20 husbands. The supporting cast includes Giorgio, “The Don Juan of Passyunk Avenue. ” Aside from scheming Lillian, “the society wife”, the wives include Rose, the “Kiss of Death Widow, ” Eva “the nymphomaniac” and the “hopelessly in love, ” Joanna.

After many comical episodes, intriguing detective work and two suspense filled high profile trials, 12 wives plead or are found guilty of murdering their husbands. Two male conspirators were executed in the electric chair.

"The Wicked Wives" gleefully explores the sins of lust and greed, and the disappointments that love often brings. The characters, although they commit murder and adultery, are extremely likable, and often amusing. Writing “The Wicked Wives” was a true labor of love.

The Adventures of Riley Raccoon is a good childrens novel. Riley is a loner raccoon who wonders the woods by himself than staying and playing with the others.

Riley likes her and shows her his three special places he has that no one else knows of them. Charlotte loves them too. She demands that they protect them and comes up with a plan to scare the kits away from them.

The Ghost, The Rat, and Me by Robyn Gioia

4 STARS
This is frustrating because it ended to soon and left me wanting more. Hope the next episode comes out soon. (Just read next book should be out in Mar.)

This is not the usual cast of students running for class president. The two that are chosen to run are one a rich jock who is always flirting with all the females. The other a girl who lives with her grandfather. Campbell lost her best friend four months ago. He died saving a little girl. Now he is back. He can't interfer with her destiny. He is a smart boy who likes to tease her.

Someone left her a dead rat on her front porch telling her to meet at night in the cemetary or else he will poison the ducks. She is supposed to come alone. Temple comes with her part of the way but he hides. She is attacked. She is sure that it is Will tuffy her rival for class president.

Campbell has a lot against her and only Temple on her side and he is not supposed to interfear.
It is funny especially Temple. You want things to go better for Campbell than it has so far. It leaves you wanting to see what happens next with Campbell,Temple and even Will. Is Will really behind the threats?

I was lost in the relationship between Temple and Campbell. It took a lot of convincing that Temple was really back. They fight, tease and remember the good times. I admit to sharing a few tears.

I was given this ebook to read and asked in return to give a honest review of it when I had read it by Netgalley.

Eighth-grade sleuth, Campbell Olson, wanted to be class president. What she got was a dead rat, a clue, and a ghost from the past.

Things aren’t the same when your best friend dies in a car accident. But when your best friend comes back as a ghost to help you solve a case, life becomes definitely better. You’ll love Temple. He’s a funny, opinionated, cool nerd who doesn’t quite have the hang of being a ghost. When I, Campbell (Bell) Olson, decided to run for eighth-grade president, I didn’t expect my opponent to be Will Tuffy, the most obnoxious boy at school, and I didn’t expect the race to start with a dead rat on my doorstep. That was the easy part. From there, things got worse and my case went from being a mystery, to being dangerous. This is my tale of the ghost, the rat, and me. Bell Olson
