Travels with Gannon and Wyatt: Great Bear Rainforest by Patti Wheeler, Keith Hemstreet

4 STARS

What a fun adventure series. I learned a lot and it was exciting book too. Had no idea what a spirit bear was. I also did not know where the Great Bear Rainforest was either. I know I will be on the lookout for more books with Gannon and Wyatt in the future. This is a clean read that is full of danger, travel, wildlife and great scenery too.

Twins Gannon and Wyatt and their parents get offered to come on a trip. they have to leave the next day to come. Their family loves to travel. So their family was going to join Captain Colin to take some famous environmental scientist to study the Great Bear Rainforest and see the spirit bear and his habitat than to volunteer at a whale research lab and help repairing it after storm damage.

They were told about bears and what to do by their guide Alu. She was a member of the First Nation people of Canada. They were not expecting a petite teenager.
The first area they went to they had no luck the only bears they saw had died in their den of starvation.

The Captain Colin and Dr. Brezner went to shore to search out the spirit bear and they disappeared. Neither radio a problem. Gannon and Wyatt's parents took the smaller boat out to find them and more trouble happened.

I read the book in one setting did not want to put it down. It was a exciting read. I was surprised to find out that their is really a Gannon and Wyatt that travel around with their parents and helped come up with the stories. You can even follow them online the website is at bottom of this post. I know I want to see their photos. I think this book can be read and enjoyed by a wide audience.
Makes me want to go exploring. At least to a zoo.

I was given this ebook to read and asked to give honest review of it by Netgalley.

Channing O'Banning is an adventurous new character that readers will fall in love with. A third grade artist extraordinaire with a penchant for gummie turtles and funky sneakers, Channing always keeps a pencil in her ponytail so she can draw in her secret sketchbook. And with best friends like Cooper Newberry and Maddie Martinez, trouble seems to follow wherever she goes!

In CHANNING O'BANNING AND THE RAINFOREST RESCUE, the feisty little artist discovers that Maddy has gone ga ga over the new boy at school. Green with envy, Channing decides that Marco, "the best friend thief," is her arch enemy. But when she and her pet pot bellied pig, Teeny, end up in the jungles of the rainforest, she finds that Marco may be her only hope for survival! This fun-filled new series will not only empower second and third graders to help others, but will also encourage them to express themselves through art.

Stay tuned for the another Channing O'Banning book, and see what Greenville's little artist will draw next!

My Review:Channing O'Banning and the Rainforest Rescue by Angela Spady

5 STARS

Channing O'Banning is a charming 4th grader. She is a artist who always has a colored pencil in her ponytail. She has favorite subjects in school. Ones she does not like. She finds cool things to draw when she on vacation to Costa Rico. She learns about the Rainforest and cloudforest.

This book is good fun and educational too. Channing learns some quick reasons why it is important to save the rainforests. That some plants are medicine and some animals and birds that live there.

Channing also learns that other kids can know more stuff than she does. You can always use more friends. That when she does not study her tests show that too.

I would love to visit the places that the O'Bannings got to visit on their vacation. Would love to see the pictures they took in the book. The book describes the things they saw so well and believable.

I was given this book to review no money took part of it and the review is my own opinion.

My Review:Channing O'Banning and Turquoise Trail by Angela Spady

5 STARS

I laughed, learned some things and now want to go turquoise hunting.

I liked the characters. Maddy, Channing and Cooper found a interesting rock by the playground during recess. They are going to dig it up. They are learning about rocks in school. About the different Indians that lived here in the past and now days.
The kids share their knowledge and are having fun till Channing's older sister makes fun of her with her friends.
Channing likes to draw all the times and keeps a pencil in her ponytail. Her family encourages her to learn and explore her talents.
Their is even a pet pig in the story.
It is a entertaining book while they are learning about rocks, history, museums, even dinosaur bones.
The drawings are good and help the story along the way. Tammie Lyon dose the Illustrations.

Just Ella by Annette K. Larsen Blog tour

Just Ella

A Proper Romance

Ariella was only looking for a distraction, something to break up the monotony of palace life. What she found was a young man willing to overlook her title and show her a new and vibrant way of life. But when her growing feelings for Gavin spiral out of control and clash with the expectations of her station, she will discover that the consequences of her curiosity are far more severe than she’d imagined.

I watched in helpless horror as two guards hauled Gavin to his feet and dragged him from the room. My voice was frozen, unable to protest as another guard took hold of my arm, leading me upstairs. From the confines of my room, I stared into the darkness beyond my window, hoping to catch one more glimpse of Gavin. He was gone, and I wondered if he would have been better off if he had never met me.

My Review: Just Ella

4 stars

Just Ella is a little bit different fairy tale. She is a princess and a strong character. Their are a lot of good characters. It is a book that you won't want to put down. It is also one that the whole family can enjoy.

Ella is a Princess. she has six sisters. One of whom will be future Queen. Ella is smart, loves children and to explore in the library or outside in the maze. Her life gets more open wide when she meets gardener Gavin who takes care of the maze.

Gavin's family have taken care of the maze for generations. He does not recognizes Ella as one of the princess at first. He knows his station in life and has a hard time treating her like everyone else. Slowly they build a friendship and Gavin tells her about life in the village.

Their is plenty of drama, action, fun and humor as you watch Ella grow up and find what she wants in life. This is not a instant romance with a dance leading to love. Of course their is a ball or two. Their is also dances in the village that Ella sneaks off too. It covers a few years. You get to see some Princes too some are nice and others are spoiled. Ella and Gavin have real issues to workout as they fall in love.

I was given this book and asked to give honest review and be part of its book tour.

My Review: Trudy, Madly, Deeply (A Working Stiffs Mystery #1 by Wendy DeLaney

4 STARS

I was very entertained by reading this mystery. The heroine was a hard caring worker. The other characters were a hoot. It is a good cast of characters. I have been in the mood for reading a lot of mysteries lately. I did not guess who the murder was.

The mystery is set in Port Merritt, Washington population 5,000. It has a small friendly community feel to the story. One scene takes place on a ferry. I have always wanted to ride on one I can just see Charmaine in her car not wanting to get out and go to the bathroom and see someone she just does not want to run into their.

Charmaine has moved back into her grandmother's house after her divorce. She has been looking for work and not having much luck. To fill in while she is looking she is working for her great uncle, Duke at Duke's Café. Char uses the café's coffee and muffins as bribes and for excuses to get into see people.

Char has one really special talent she can tell when people are lying to her. She hopes to work for the Chimacam County Prosecutor office. Lots of people know her from working at Duke's Café on and off through the years. She gets a thirty day trial.

Steve Sixkiller is the police detective and lives across from her grandmothers. They are friends. Steve keeps telling her to but out of his way. That their is no case yet. The results will take 6 to 8 weeks to see if a murder or death of natural causes. Steve gets very frustrated with her showing up all over and finding out facts he already knows. Steve eats a lot at Duke's Café too.

Char's mother Marietta is a actress and has come for the funeral of Trudy. She is planning on staying for a week. While she is their Char gets moved to the foldout bed in the study. It is not to comfortable.

Char's Great Aunt Alice is Duke's wife and the baker at Duke's Café. She is not feeling well but she won't go to the doctor or hospital after all the healthier patients are dying right before going home.

Lucille is a long time waitress at Duke's Café. She is always seeing conspiracies all around her. She thinks something is going on at the hospital too. I like Lucille.

Lots of humor, drama, great relationships, with a touch of romance, tango lessons and action makes a great read. I hope their is a book two coming out soon.

I was given this ebook to read and asked to give honest review of it as part of her blog tour.

Excerpt #2

Darcy strode down the eerily silent corridor, heading for the elevator. Where was Abby? Perhaps, after returning from the day’s excursion, she’d been called in to help with the evening’s bash on Deck 9. Whatever the cause of Abby’s delay, Darcy wasn’t going to spend the rest of the night waiting. She had signed on with the Bering to aid Abby in an investigation—an investigation she still knew very little about.

Abby’s calls from various Alaskan ports over the past few weeks had been brief—telling Darcy about an adventure journalist opportunity aboard Destiny Cruise Line’s Bering and encouraging her to apply. The last call—the day before Darcy was scheduled to leave California to join the cruise—had been different. It had lasted less than a minute, and there was a heightened urgency to Abby’s tone, true fear—unlike anything she’d heard in her former undercover investigation partner before. She wouldn’t give any details, only frantically confirmed that Darcy was indeed arriving. Whatever Abby was on to, it was big.

For the first time in three years, the hunger of the hunt was back for her. And the beauty of it was that her adventure journalist “cover” was real.

Her adventure credentials and her ability to be on board the ship within forty-eight hours had impressed Destiny Cruise Line and snagged her the spot. She’d been on board little over twelve hours, and already she was anxious to plunge into whatever Abby needed her help with.

She pressed the Up button, tapping her foot until the elevator doors slid open. She stepped inside, hit the button for level 9, and leaned against the rail. Who would have thought she’d ever be back on a case? When she left undercover investigative reporting three years ago, she’d vowed never to return. But this was different. Abby needed her help, she wasn’t totally undercover, and most importantly she wasn’t working for Kevin—that fact alone made all the difference. Or, at least, she tried to convince herself it did.

The elevator moved slowly, or perhaps the anxiety was getting to her. She’d been so restless since she’d left Alaska last December . . left the McKenna family . . . left Gage. She’d expected to stay in contact, but nothing had come—five months with no phone calls, no e-mails . . . nothing.

She jiggled her leg as the numbers overhead lit with each deck passed—5. 6. 7.

The elevator jerked to a sudden halt at 8, jarring her hard against the back rail. An alarm whirred and the lights dimmed.

You’ve got to be kidding.
She pressed the 9 button. Nothing.
“Oh, come on.”
Depressing the emergency call button, she held it in, trying to ward off the encroaching panic. She was trapped.

Besides, she has more important things to worry about. Her dad, Texas Jack Pierce, king of the chili cook-off circuit, has been missing for nearly six weeks. Now this Chili Chick needs to kick up the search to catch the real killer and get back to finding her father.

About Kylie Logan
Kylie Logan has loved mysteries since she was a kid. Her dad was a Cleveland Police detective and he introduced her to Sherlock Holmes stories and gave her investigating experience when on his days off, they’d pile into the car and hit the streets to look for stolen cars. When he retired from the force, Dad became head of security for the Cleveland Public Library.

Crooks and books! Kylie comes by her love of mysteries honestly.

Kylie began her career writing historical romance and her book, “Devil’s Diamond,” was nominated for a RITA award as historical romance of the year by Romance Writers of America. She’s also written contemporary romance (as Connie Lane), young adult horror (as Zoe Daniels and Connie Laux) and she writes the popular Pepper Martin Mysteries as Casey Daniels.

Kylie is currently writing three different mystery series: the Button Box Mysteries(newest book is “Panic Button”), the League of Literary Ladies mysteries (“Mayhem at the Orient Express “) and now, the Chili Cook-Off mysteries. She can’t pass up an antique shop…there might be buttons in there! She can’t put down a classic book . . . even if she already knows the story. And she can’t say no to a good bowl of chili. Luckily, her husband is the world’s greatest chili maker.

When she’s not writing, she’s usually with her family and their two dogs, Ernie, an adorable Airedale, and Oscar, a rescued Jack Russell who came for a short-term stay and ten years later, is still around. Kylie says that those of you who have ever met/lived with/had dealings with a Russell will certainly understand how knowing him has increased her propensity for murder.

My Review: Chili con Carnage

4 STARS
I liked Chili Con Carnage. It was spicy hot with all the murders taking place.
Maxie and her half sister Sylvia are always fighting. The suspense is good to the end. Their are lots of suspects.

One thing I noticed the police did not seem to be doing much. You see them gather evidence and see them take a suspect in for the first murder and that's it.
I like Maxie. Her life is a mess. She is trying to keep her father's business going and trying to find what happened to him. He is missing. She seems ditsy at first but shows later how much she has learned.

Sylvia I have not cared for. But we really don't know that much about her. She is older and is willing to help keep her father's chili spices business going and following the tour.

Their is a big group that follows the tour selling their products to different towns as they go. The girls when they were young would go around the tour with their father.

When Maxie is worried about her sister Nick the security guard tells her to start thinking who the real murder is. He did expect her to actually go and investigate. Their are a lot of mystery about him.

This is a fun clean cozy mystery. The first in the A Chili Cook-off Mystery.
It can lead to eating chili with beans or no beans. I would like to see what happens next.

I was given this book to read and asked to give honest review of it and be part of its book tour.

The Night is Forever by Heather Graham

My Review The Night is Forever (Krewe of Hunters #11)

4 stars

I like the Krewe series. They are filled with mystery with touch of the supernatural. There are love scenes that I skipped over.
In The Night is Forever their are ghosts all over in the story that so enrich the story. Marcus died of a drug overdose. Everyone believes after 30 years clean he relasps except Olivia. Olivia found Marcus's body and his ghost that said he did not go back to drugs, He was murdered and he needs her help.

Olivia faints I would to, bad enough to find a dead body without its ghost being there too. Olivia calls her cousin Malachi and his Krewe, an FBI unit of paranormal investigators, and tells him what Marcus said.

Dustin Blake is a FBI Agent. He wanted to join Krewes but there is no way to request it. Dustin is asked to go in undercover as a agent who is burned out. This will be his first assignment for the Krewe unit.

Their is lots of suspects, lots of ghosts, and lots of animals. I had no idea who or why was killing people at the horse farm.
I liked the ghosts that kept popping up, also liked the boys that were trying to get their lives back.
Dustin fits well in the Krewe unit with the others. It was a entertaining story.

Butterfly Cove by Christina Skye (Summer Island#3)

3 STARS

This is a okay romance. I have only read one of the books before this and really don't remember a lot of it. So to me it read like someone thought it was too long and chopped parts of it off here and there. Maybe if you read all four books it wont feel like that.

I like the characters and their friendships together. Would have like to have more of them.

Olive gets fired and moves back home and on her way a mud slide happened in front of her. She could either hit a schoolbus or serve into another car. Which was a cop car. She is in a lot of pain. Olive recognizes Rafe.
He was her good friend from when she was little to the night of her prom when he stood her up and left town. Now
he is back home.

Olive's father had died and left things in a mess. His money and hers as disappeared. Olive needs that money now that she does not have a job. Olive and friends have a goal to open and restore a old house and go into business together.

Olive hears noises in her attic and Rafe does not want her to be alone.
Rafe was the town's bad boy. When he turned 18 he joined the military and now he has come back home. He does not plan to pick up with Olive again. His first day home and working for the Sheriff he runs into Olive. He has secrets.

Recommend you read other books first. I hope the next book answers the questions I still have.
Does have love scenes that I skipped over. Would have liked a bigger book that answered more of the questions.

Maybe opposites don't always attract. If they did, architect Olivia Sullivan would have run away with bad boy Rafe Russo when they were teenagers. Instead, Olivia has spent ten years dreaming up designs for a life that hasn't gone the way she planned. Still reeling from her career's implosion and her father's death, Olivia thanks her lucky stars for the support of her three lifelong friends. But this good girl is through sitting on the sidelines. When Rafe returns to the beautiful Oregon coast where they grew up, her former flame ignites a new desire. Now Olivia must take a walk on the wild side to show the new deputy that in matters of love…being bad can feel very good.

Freshly back from Afghanistan, rugged ex-Marine and new deputy Rafe is done breaking laws and hearts. He's always regretted leaving Olivia behind, but now she's after adventure and he'd better proceed with caution. Because wanting her again might be easy, but fighting for a future together will be his biggest risk yet.

Forsaken (Beartooth, Montana #3) by B.J. Daniels

MY REVIEW: FORSAKEN

Forsaken basically has three different plot lines going. The main one is good. That has the new Deputy Bentley Jamison from New York answers a call about something is wrong at Maddie Conner's Sheep camp up in the high County.

Maddie's tender a young man has come down from the sheep camp in terror. He is covered with blood, in shock saying that her Long time Shepard is missing. No one is watching her sheep.
So Bentley and Maddie head up the mountain on horseback to find what is going on. Bentley is going up as a cop.

The theme that runs through Beartooth, Montana series is the Sheriff ex-wife Pam has decided that she is going make life terrible for him. She has not seen him in decades. She has hidden the knowledge that he has a daughter and raised her to hate him and the women he loved as a teenager.
The daughter has been arrested for trying to kill him is in a mental hospital. Now he finds her at his house with a baseball bat smashing his belongings and some attacks him from behind and beats him up. Pam has a Judge that is a witness that she never left his ranch and has got a restraining order against the Sheriff.

The third plot line runs into the first and could ruin story if I say anything about it.

Most of the story takes place high in the Montana mountains not to far from Yellowstone. It is a beautiful setting for the story.

The characters are likeable and you find yourself rooting for the good characters and the bad guys to be caught. Some of the characters you are not sure if they are good or bad guys till the story unfolds.

Good suspense in the story kept me from guessing a lot of the mystery in the story. I was able to guess a little bit of what has happened. The story kept moving at a good pace. I stayed up late to finish the book. Did not want to put it down.

There were a couple of love scenes that I skipped over. lots of action, drama, romance and some violence in the book.

I was given this ebook to read and asked to give honest review of the book from NetGalley and Harlequin.

I want to go and see a Christmas play! Listen to the music and go see the train with Santa riding in it. Merry Christmas.
This is a heart warming story of love and forgiveness. Of being with family to share with. Lots of O'Brien too add into the fun.

Their was a little of the story that I could see coming a long ways from. I read this book fast did not want anything but to read and find out how it will
all come together.

Jenny is a very talented song writer. She has not been home for years. She has only seen her half brother when he was born. Now after a very public breakup
with Caleb in the tabloids she is going home. She is going to help write songs too go along with Bree's play she wrote.

Caleb knew he had blown the best things in his life. He wants Jenny back. He has sobered up in rehab. Now he wants to get his life and career back. He has heard Jenny's new song and he wants it. They had worked great together in the past. He follows her to her hometown.

When Bree learns Caleb is going to be in town as long as it took to earn Jenny's heart back, she asks," Caleb to be in her Christmas play?" Caleb thinks it would be great for his career and it would force Jenny to work with him again.

Most of the O'Briens are ready to give him one chance, but warn him not to hurt Jenny again.

I laughed, got in the mood for hot chocolate even though it's in the 90s. I was left with a smile and for once wanting a book to come with CD of new music that Jenny wrote.

She is smart and figures out ways of how the crooks are cheating. Her new job has a lot of secrecy about it. She is smart to not to trust everything, but still gets into lots of trouble. She develops a crush on the lawyer who sub-leased his apartment to her.

MY REVIEW Wolf Sirens 2 Fever

3 STARS

Fever started off slow for me. Don't know if it is because I forgot a lot of the book or what. I admit to liking second half of the book a lot more.

We get to read the background of the other characters a lot more and how they became wolfs or hunters. We see how and why they acted the ways they did. Like how come Sam liked to make others do what she wanted. How Cresida came to live with her Aunt. We learn that Cresida likes some of the wolves too.
I like how the characters were enriched by the more we knew about their pasts.

Fever sets up really good for book 3. Now if my memory will work I will be ready for it the sooner the better.
Lila has a hard time accepting that Sky is dead and gone. She wants to leave town and look for him see where he died. But she is always being watched. Cresida has been training her to keep her busy and tired.
The high school is mourning this is the second death within months. Lila has to learn about handling death.

I love the cover of Fever! It draws me in to the wolf.

Some people when they get bitten change where others die from the fever It tells a lot of the conversions stories and what their families went through the tough times.

I was given this ebook to read and asked to give honest review of it and be part of their blog tour.

The Stranger You Know by Andrea Kane (Forensic Instincts #3)

4 STARS

I like Forensic Instincts. This is the third book in the series. It is good except for the crimes committed, that part is not a fun topic. I like the team of characters at Forensic Instincts. The plot has twists some I expected and others I did not guess at all. I should have guessed more answers.

Their is case that Forensic Instincts has been hired to look into. It happened fifteen years ago and it ties into a case that is close to Casey past. A father has cancer stage 4 and he wants his daughter found before he dies. Patrick brought the case to FI.
Casey friend in college was kidnapped, raped and murdered. The killer was never found. This case is close in details that they think they are connected.
Casey knows she is emotionally close to the case but she is still going to take lead because it is her company. Her past, The reason for which she started the company.
Clair is looking for clues when she is drawn into a rape scene somehow. Clair calls the cop and tells him what she saw. He has worked with her before so he goes to look for the body and crime scene.
Casey it's a phone call saying why waste her talent on a cold case when she can find a warm body. That a blood chain has been started and it will end with her death and rape.

FI team does not plan to let that happen. Casey is not going to stop working on the missing girl case because she is being threatened. Of Course they want to stop this new killer too before he kills again. The cops are willing to work with FI on both cases.
The murdered girl is small and a red head like Casey. She is a college student. She was on her way home when she disappeared.
Mark brings his skills as a Navy seal and former FBI agent to FI. Ryan has lots of teck tools. He is smart, good looking and likes Clair. Clair is a physic who connects with objects and sees the crimes more than she wants, but can't see who he is. Patrick a retired cop and FBI Agent by the book. Casey is smart and a profiler they make a great team. They also have Hero a retired FBI dog because he gets sick in planes.
Casey's calls her boyfriend asks for his help. Hutch is a FBI Agent profiler. He lives in Virginia but comes as soon as he can to help catch the guy and keep Casey safe.
They work together to solve cases. When they get a case they put lots of hours in it especially if they are trying to save someone.
It is a good story and I want to read more Forensic Instincts books. I would like to see and learn more personal information about Mark and the others members of FI.
It is well told story that works. I did not want to put the book down but I could not stay up longer and read the rest first thing this morning.
There were some love scenes that I skipped over.
I will definitely read more books by Andrea Kane in the future.

It begins with a chilling phone call to Casey Woods. And ends with another girl dead.

College-age girls with long red hair. Brutally murdered, they're posed like victims in a film noir. Each crime scene is eerily similar to the twisted fantasy of a serial offender now serving thirty years to life—a criminal brought to justice with the help of Forensic Instincts.

Call. Kill. Repeat. But the similarities are more than one psychopath's desire to outdo another. As more red-haired victims are added to the body count, it becomes clear that each one has been chosen because of a unique connection to Casey—a connection that grows closer and closer to her.

Now the Forensic Instincts team must race to uncover the identity of a serial killer before his ever-tightening circle of death closes in on Casey as the ultimate target. As the stalker methodically moves in on his prey, his actions make one thing clear: he knows everything about Casey. And Casey realizes that this psychopathic won't stop until he makes sure she's dead.

State Secrets\The Five Days of Christmas

State Secrets by Linda Lael Miller

In State Secrets the newly elected Pres. third cousin is wanted for treason. His sister Holly a cookbook author just got back from spending two months in Middle East researching for a cookbook. The secret service needs to see if she is a security leak too. David Goddard is being sent undercover to find out.

I like Holly she is worried about her brother. Raising her nephew Toby. Writing her cookbooks, weekly newspaper article and teaching cooking classes. She loves Toby and raising him the best she can.

David finds out that Holly is in contact with her brother and sending him money. He has to report back what he finds out about him. He falls for Holly fast. But he has been lying to her about his real job.

There is drama, romance, a few love scenes that I skipped over. I really like that she went to her cousins and stayed in the White House to see him take the oath of office.
The Five Days of Christmas by Lindsay McKenna
This is a short novella celebrating 5 days of Christmas with Morgan Trayhern's employees and families. Laura decides that she wants to help bring together Colt & Abby.
Colt's last mission has left him raw. Morgan asks Colt if he will help with the preparation of the different activities because he is just too busy to help his wife.

Abby is a widow of two years. Her husband worked for Morgan in black opts. She is a teacher and helping Laura with different activities.

This is emotional story for different reasons. I shed a few tears at different times. Wish the story was longer and not detailed love scenes that I admit skipping over.

During the 5 days of activities they had a dance, sking, visit to V.A. Hospital, too shelter. banquets , Christmas presents from Santa from Everyone. It is very moving story.
One problem is how fast they fall for each other and get over their problems. Makes a great Christmas story.

Woman Hater\The Humbug Man

3 STARS

Woman Hater by Diana Palmer

Woman Hater is about two people who had been hurt in the past and don't plan to be hurt again.
Winthrop was hurt both physically and in his pride. He especially doesn't want to have anything to do with someone from rich society.

Nicki blames her father for her mother's death. She has turned away from him and his money. When her fiancé found out that she refused her families money and wants to her earn a living now. He left her because she was now broke.

Now no one knows that she was from money now. She has kept her private life from her boss. Now her boss is going to Montana for a month to heal. He wants to take her with him. His neighbor is the woman he loves Sadie. Sadie moved back home to Montana to take care of her mom.

The story is a theme we see a lot. People who have been hurt don't want to trust a chance on love again. Nicki is a virgin and wants to wear white if she ever gets married and mean it. Their is some heavy petting. Their is plenty of drama. Some romance with three different couples need to workout their troubles. Some history about Montana and ranching.

Most of the story is set on a ranch up in Montana's mountain in late fall with a winter early snow storm.

I like the characters. That their is more going on than just the two main characters.
This is a nice romance to escape into.

I was given this ebook to read and asked in exchange to give honest review of it.

Humbug Man by Diana Palmer

This is a much smaller story. It is a Christmas one too. It is a nice story. mostly characters, little drama, action and heavy makeouts scenes.

Both Tate and Maggie are widowers. Maggie marriage only lasted months before her husband died. She was pregnant at the time. She was left a small ranch.

Maggie's son Blake wants them to spend Christmas at the ranch together before she decides what to do with it.
Blake has a case of hero worship with the rancher next door Tate. When he had spent the summer at the ranch with his grandfather Tate would follow him around.
Tate is not a happy person and has not celebrated the season since he lost his wife and son in car accident.

Blake wants to get them together.
It is a good short read, I did skip over some of love scenes.

Search the Dark (Watcher in the Dark) by Marta Perry

4 STARS

Search the Dark title fits this book. It is a suspenseful novel till the end. It does a good job of keeping me guessing. The ones I wanted to be guilty were not. It is set in Amish town but Meredith is not Amish. Her father was but left before he joined the church. So Meredith has lots of Amish relatives. It is a clean read with lots of drama thrown in.

This is book two in the Watcher in the Dark series. Book 1 was Home by Dark. The Plot is Meredith's Amish cousin asks her to keep looking into the death of Aaron. When Rachel moved back home the two friends remembered fallowing Aaron around the summer he died and made up stories about him as a knight and his love Laura a Englisher. They had found a note for Aaron that he never received.

Meredith did not know what she could do but agreed to ask around. Her and Rachel could look at their scrapbook again to see if they noticed anything else.

Zach Randal left town when he was a senior because he was accused of being a thief by Meredith's mother. Zach wanted Meredith to go with him but she refused. Zach is back in town to take care of a house he was left by his stepmom.

The first person Zach sees is Meredith. He thought he would no longer feel anything for her. But he was wrong. He is staying at the bed and breakfast across the street from her house. Zach is now a cop. He is interested in the death of Aaron and helps Meredith with ideas of what to look for in a cold case file.

Meredith's mom still does not want her to have anything to do with that boy. Their are others who remember the troubled teenager that Zach was.

Meredith is warned away from a couple of people to stop looking into Aaron's death. Then they get more warnings.

This story keeps you guessing and keeps your attention. I like Meredith and how she takes care of her mom but still sees her Amish family even against her wishes. Zach is a hero I could fall for.
He tries to do what is right and protects Meredith.
I like Marta Perry's books and plan to read more of her work in the future.

Sometimes the past is best left buried

Meredith King longs for escape. Life in Deer Run is stifling, the Amish town too small for a modern woman staying just to care for her ailing mother. When a friend enlists her help in clearing the name of an Amish boy whose decades-old death is still shrouded in mystery, she welcomes the distraction. But when a ghost from her own past reappears, there is suddenly a lot more at stake.

Zach Randal was always a bad boy, and their romance never had a chance. As charming as ever, he returns to town on the heels of a deadly new threat. Is Zach as dangerous as Meredith was always led to believe? Or is the attraction they both feel the only thing that can save them from harm?

Christmas on 4th Street ( Fools Gold #12.5) by Susan Mallery

4 STARS
I have been wondering about Noelle's story for awhile. I was excited to read it. It does not disappoint. It has love, community filled with old friends we have met before and new ones. It is full of Christmas Cheer, snow and lots of kittens. Their was a few love scenes I skipped over. Rich characters. Plot was good and simple.

Noelle is getting ready for her first Christmas in Fool's Gold and her business The Christmas Attic. Noelle has lived in Florida and California she is not used to driving in snow. With in the first chapter she has slid into a ditch. No one wants her to drive in it. Let alone walk in it.

Gabriel is visiting his brother Gideon and his family for the holidays. He has cut his hand bad so he can't be doctoring till it heals more. He is a Army Doctor in Germany right now. He is debating if he will be reenlisting after Christmas or if it is time to do something else.

Gabriel and Gideon's parents are coming to Fools Gold to meet their grandchild Carter and Gideon's fiancé. They love their mom but have issues with their father who was a drill sergeant at home too. He demanded they both join the army. Though they are twins they are very different in personality.

Gabriel decides to help Noelle at her shop for the month of Dec. He wants something to keep busy and away from his father. He is attracted to her. But realizes that Noelle has found her home in Fools Gold. Plus she is looking for commitment.

Everyone who meets Gabriel before he can say much they are saying that he is Gideon's brother the doctor. Mayor Marcia wants him to stay in Fools Gold and work in the new hospital that is almost finished.

This is charming story. It has a lot of same things as most Fool's Gold stories have. A community coming together to help each other stranger or friend. A breakup that the woman come and support each other with strong drinks. No one stays a stranger for long. A festival. I liked reading Fool's Gold it leaves me smiling.

Wild West Bodyguard miniseries

This story had drama, suspense, romance and danger. Also had love scenes that I skipped over.

Janette Black is a high school dropout waitress on the run. She is smart and caring. She dropped out of school to nurse her grandmother. She is scared now for herself and her baby. She gets a ride to a few towns away where there is a bus that she hopes will get her and her son away. When she gets settled she plans to bring her grandmother to her.

She falls a sleep while waiting for the bus to come but because of the weather it will be another day at least. She walks to pay phone in snow and calls motel but it is full up. She sees another business with lights on and hopes they can help her.

The West Bodyguard is only business with lights. Dalton lost track of time and weather and was on his way out when he runs into Janette she offers to hire him for the night protecting her from the weather.
Dalton takes her to his apartment two blocks over and spends the night at his landlords. He realizes that Jane has lied to him and is scared of something. But with the town closed down and snowing so hard he can keep her safe for the night.

It would be hard to have no one to trust. She can't go to the police since it was a Sheriff she is running from. Jane will do anything to protect her son.

I would like to read other books in the Wild West bodyguard series.
It was very fast paced story. Dalton makes a great hero, he has been hurt in the past but he is determined to help Jane.

NO PLACE LIKE HOME

For Glory Parsons, "home for the holidays" wasn't exactly the stuff of sing-a-longs and sleigh rides. In fact, she dreaded it. Dreaded having to face the things she'd lost—her brother, a casualty of war; and Jesse Bainbridge, a casualty of her own weakness. She'd never been able to tell Jesse the reason she'd left him abruptly ten years ago, after she'd promised to love him forever. And he certainly didn't seem open to talking about it now.

Jesse had too much on his plate to get involved with Glory Parsons. He was the sheriff of Pearl Lake and responsible for his orphaned niece. So why couldn't he stay away from the woman? She drew him, just as she always had. But there would be no kisses under the mistletoe for them until he knew the truth. If he was strong enough to face it.

It was supposed to be a girls’ weekend in scenic St. George, Utah that would include shopping, trying out the local cuisine, and participating in a breast cancer fundraiser. The fact that one of the organizers of the fundraising event, a local doctor, disappeared two months ago was not supposed to be Sadie’s problem. In fact, she refuses to participate in the grassroots investigation her friend Caro, and Caro’s cousin, Tess, have put together prior to her arrival. But then she meets the ex-wife of the missing doctor. How could she not ask a few questions . . . that lead to a few more questions . . . that lead to a small town and yet even more questions. Before she knows it, Sadie is in the middle of yet another murder investigation and trying to piece together a convoluted trail of good intentions, hidden motivations, and philanthropy turned big business.

A Weaver Beginning by Allison Leigh

4 STARS

A Weaver Beginning was a charming romance. I liked the characters, the town, the Weaver family. The plot was small town life. It did have two love scenes that I skipped over.

Sloan McCray has spent the year in Weaver and is not sure what he plans to do next. His twin wants him to stay in Weaver. He does not see himself as a hero. As a hard time dealing with his memories and guilt.

Abby Marcum has just moved too Weaver with her young brother on New Years eve. The house she bought heat is not working. Their is lots of snow in driveway as she tries to unpack her car. She is 23 and the new school nurse who will start in a few days.

Dillon is her 7 year old half brother that she has raised for the past two years. He is cute but really shy. He is afraid when he sees the stranger with snow shovel coming over from next door.

Sloan helps her carry stuff inn and when he realizes that the house is cold and that she plans to heat with fireplace till after the holidays. He brings her wood starts the fire, shovels the driveway for her before he tells her who he is. A sheriff deputy who was in the news for getting biker gang busted up working undercover deep undercover.

Dillon takes to his neighbor when he finds out he has a badge and gun.

I smiled a lot reading this story. Dillon is cute and can really say the wrong thing at the wrong time as all kids tend to do sometimes.

I was given this ebook to read and asked to give honest review of it when done by Netgalley and Harlequin.

USA TODAY bestselling author Allison Leigh introduces readers to a reluctant hero—and the woman who just might heal his wounded heart—in this newest addition to her popular miniseries, Return to the Double C!

Small town deputy Sloan McCray was making amends for his past. They called him a hero but only he had to live with the difficult choices he'd made. And he certainly wasn't prepared to fall in love again, not even with his beautiful—and innocent—new neighbor, whose very presence was a balm to his troubled soul.

There was no doubt in Abby Marcum's mind that Sloan was the guy for her. Though she'd moved to Weaver, Wyoming, to make a better life for her little brother, she saw her future with Sloan. Now she had to convince the man who felt unworthy of love that she and her heart were his for the asking….
