Dark River Road by Virginia Brown

5 STARs
Well I ended up crying a few times during the story. Felt lots of emotions in the book.
Chantry starts as teenager and comes through a lot of trials before he is 16. Chantry lives with his mom and stepfather and little brother Mike.  He has two older stepbrothers too.
His stepfather is on disabilty and spends his checks on beer. Very selfish. One of his quick money schemes he bought a pregnant dog with money he won gambling.  Chantry helped deliver the 8th pup and he hand fed him and worked two jobs for money to feed him and later train him when his stepfather wanted to kill the pup.
Mike has a lot of health problems and his father did not think much of him either. He wore braces on his legs and still had problems walking. He also had to have sergury on heart too.
Chantry was always told that his father died during vetnam war.  Dempsey the black neighbor was more a father figure too him than his stepfather.
Dempsey was a gardner and his daughter Tansey loved music. Tansey and Chantry grew up friends till she started dating real early. Tansey mother was white and she could pass for white but had to deal with a lot of racisms.  Even had a cross burned in their lawn.
Their was one man Quinton who's family had started the town and still controlled what happens too a lot of people. If you crossed him he could hurt the whole family. His grandson was Chris was spoiled. Chris and two of his friends fought a lot and caused trouble for Chantry. His other granddaughter was Cinda and thats who Chantry liked till her mothe broke them up.
The children drank and had sex way to young in this story for my taste.
The last part of the book takes place fourteen years in the future when Chantry goes back to his home town where he is accused of killing Quinton and most of the other characters are still in the town dealing with the same issues of fourteen years ago.
I cried way too much in this book specially over the dog and at other times in the book. I was very vested into this story. I would recommend this book but have tissues on hand.

Review: Time Out by Jill Shalvis

4 STARS
I liked the story line a lot.  It is a Harlequin Blaze so their were the love scenes that I skipped over.
Rainey works at a summer rec league in a poor part of town that was made worse by summer fires. Fires destroyed a few of the ball fields and lots of homes too.
Rainey is having a fund raser car wash and most of left when she gets a bucket of water meant for a teen, when a big fancy truck pulls in. Mark Diego NHL head coach and two of his players.
Mark realizes that its Rainey under the had, glasses and he flirts. Rainey had a crush on him when she was 16 and sneeked into his apartment at collage but he was with a girl.
After the Stanley cup final two of Mark's players got into a fight with the other team players in a bar fight.  The two coaches got together and for their punshment they would volunteer and coach youth summer leagues and than have them play each others teams earning more money for the programs of the coaches home towns.
Mark's brother Rick was in charge of the rec program and is Rainey's best friend growing up and now her boss.
Casey Reynolds & James Vasquez are the youngest players on Mark's team and agreed to do anything to stay on the team. So they were doing construction durning the day and coaching rec teams. Mark and his players where in a motel out in the sticks with no extras at all.
Mark was off thinking about Rainey at a planning meeting instead of listening and he volunteered to coach girls softball team. Casey and James got the boys teams.
Mark & Rainey have a lot of heat and Mark chases off the guys she is trying to date. Mark used to always having his way and wants to take things day by day. Rainey wants it to be just when she wants to get physcal doesn't want to expect things from Mark. Mark likes relationships to be day by day.

The Cowboy Father by Linda Ford

 4 STARS
The Cowboy Father follows after The Cowboy Tutor also by Linda Ford.
Each book stands alone but I like seeing the characters from one story in a nother. Each book tells the story of one of the sisters.
In the town of Golden Prairie, Alberta  in 1933 they are in the depression and drought times are hard.  Louisa Morgan's family is struggling finacelly after the death of her father 4 years ago.  Louisa feels  bad because a lot of medical bills are from her. Louisa wants to work to help pay them but their is a lot of people out of work. Louisa finds a job for two months tutoring a little girl who broke her leg and is in full body cast.
Emmet Hamilton has moved back home with his aunt when his daughter broke her leg. He is a widower and had hired someone at his ranch to watch
Ellie but she left her alone.  Emmet found his daughter with a broken leg after she fell out of a tree. Emmet feels guilty that he could not prevent his
Ellie from being hurt.
Ellie is a 7 year old tomboy and hates being trapped in bed and does not want to do homework. Ellie is spoiled by her father andd knows how to get what she wants most of the time. She does not want to have Louisa tutor  her.
Auntie May never had children but  when Emmet's parents were killed in an accident she took him and raised him. She has a lot of cats. She is glad that Emmet and Ellie are staying with her while Ellie heals.
Madge is Louisa's younger sister and her story is told in Tutor Cowboy. She is a new bride.
Judd is married to Madge and has bought a farm near his in-laws.
Louisa feels she will never marry because of all her illness she can never have children. She is heart broken over the fact for her dream of having children is strong.
Emmet has problems that he could not protect his parents , his wife from dying. Now he did not prevent Ellie's accident so he does not want to care for anyone else he might fail to protect.
I enjoyed this story. It has some heartbreaks but they learn to trust in God.
This book does have some scriptures and no sex, foul langage and leaves you feeling good and wanting to see is Louisa's youngest sister gets her own story to.

Review:Witches Under Way by Debora Geary

5 STARS
It seamed liked I had to wait along time for this second book in the Witch Light Trilogy. It was worth the wait. If you have not picked up any of the series you need to check them out.  They are a community of characters working and helping each other in the witching world.
Its fun to read and I get lost in thier stories.
This second story starts a few days after end of first book.  Lizard is making soup for all the sick witches with Gina hadding herbs and Aervyn age 4 is delivering it by teleporting right in the kitchens of those sick. The young witchlings heal faster than the older ones.
Lizard is still working for Lauren and is getting ready to start collage, sell her first house by herself and lots of growing opportunities that she faces and yet to come.
Elsie starts out still at yoga but soon leaves. She is getting voice lessons from a opera singer. Elsie is willing to try new things from slowly to faster she grows in her playful side. Elise needs help to being silly and people wrote ideas or challanges that are put in a jar for her to do. Her first one is to ride an wild decorated bike out in public.
Lizard and Elsie have become good friends who are for each other. Having met at beginning of their WitchLight sentence and made to share living quarters. You want to root them on some of thier journeys. Also want to see where they go next.
Thier is more of the knitting circle ladies, water fights that make you want to join and laughter and tears. Dressing up fashion shows and new babies to love. I had a smile on most of the book and still smile as I think of different events in the book. I was given this book for free in exchange of past reviews.

If I Have a Wicked Stepmother Where's My Prince by Melissa kantor

5 STARS
Well if the purpose of this book is to make me feel for Lucy it was successful.
My  emotions where all over the place even shed a bunch of tears.
Lucy's father got remarried and they moved from San Francisco to New York to live in her stepmother's house.  Then her father kept working in San Francisco on a big case for work and flew into New york for weekends.
Lucy's stepmother is busy shopping and cares about redecorating the whole house but not her room.  Lucy lives in the basement by herself. Sleeps on a air mattress has no place to put her clothes, because she was not allowed to move with her furniture just being told we will buy more.
six months later she finally gets a bed and then told her friend was comming for a week and will have her bedroom. Lucy gets the couch.
Lucy calls her two spoiled 12 old twins Princess 1 & Princess 2.  Lucy feels like she does all the cleaning but they don't have too.
Lucy has no friends at the new school. She did try to talk to a boy Sam in art class but he was rude.  One day she heard these boys talking about a NBA basketball game who was going to win.  Lucy made a remark about they being so wrong.  Next time she saw them they told her good call on the game. Then Connor Pearson started to ask her out. Connor was popular and on the basketball team. Lucy than became popular and had friends and lots of others waved or talked to her in the halls.
The only problems I had with the book was all the drinks they had and was no big deal. champaign, wiskey.beer seemed like the adults did not care either. The skimpy clothes too without comments.

The Jinson Twins, Science Detectives, and the Mystery of Echo Lake by Steven l Zeichner

4 STARS
I was entertained by the book,  the science was interesting but some was over my head. I was thinking taking some of the crickets home and listening in a quite room.
I do like how they show reasoning out and how to find out things.  Showing science in everyday type of usefulness.
Joe and Debbie Jinson are 12 years old twins being raised by a single mom.  They spend a lot of time on their own. This summer instead of going to a camp they are supposed to earn some money and save for collage. They decide to put signs up to do summer jobs.
Finally a old lady hires them and she seams a little batty to me.  They are taking things out of boxes and putting them in other boxes down in the basement. Finally Mrs. Gray tells them that her money is gone and she needs  to sell the old house. Her husband had a treasure of old gold coins but she could not find it.
The twins think they might of found a map and ask their friend Mr. Benjamin what he thinks.  Mr. Benjamin is always showing and asking questions using science tools.
Their is a scary old man that follows the twins and in fact almost  ran over them while on their bikes.
Their are three older boys who destroys their signs and threatens them to stop trying to do work.
Joe and Debbie are trying to figure out the clues to the map if it is in fact a map. It is a nice mystery and you might even learn a little too when your done. I would read more about the Jinson twins.

Picture Perfect by Lanie Kincaid

4 STARS
It was a fun book watching them falling in love and thinking the other does not like me. Sometimes it would be fun to have group friends that get together so often.
Rae Madson works with a Private detective taking pictures of people cheating on their partners. The new case she is handed seems the guy goes to same places she goes than turns the page and sees his photo with his family and knows that he does cheat. It was her boyfriend and she was not the only one he saw.
Rae met her group of friends that night for their usual get together and they were really supportive of her. She drank alot of drinks and Colby was happy to carry her into her apartment then next few weeks spent more time with her.
At a christmas party get together Colby kissed her under misltoe then walked off. Rae could not forget that kiss.
Colby is a lawyer and decided to go smaller firm and not everything be work related. His mother sponsered new artists and covered their walls with the art or photographs. She liked to find and collect.  Colby one night over for dinner and saw a new photograph that drew his attention.  His mom kept talking about the new artist ray madison and wanted to help him get a show.
Colby took Rae over for dinner and than realized her print was on the wall.
Their is laughter, embarssing moments, sweet and anger makes for a good romance. Their was a couple of love scenes in the book.

Discarded Heroes is about a special black ops team.  They are loyal but have some problems and thier families don't all know they are serving are country still.
This last book opens with their team under attack at their secret base and some are taken two get out of building before its bombed.
Max Jacobs was Navy Seal, Canyon Metcalf was Army Special Forces, Colton
Neeley was Marine, Griffen Riddell was Marne, Marshall Vaughn was Army Ranger, John Dighton Navy Seal, Azzan Yasr and General Olin Lambert member of Joint Chiefs of Staff
For  the past 6 months Griffen Riddell has been locked up prison for killing a U.S. Senator.  He has been in isolation because he is very  dangerous with his training he is also innocent.

What an roller coast of a story. I cried durning the funeral scene and laughed at
Lisa getting back. In between was so into the story could not read fast enough. Highly recommend this book!   I will be on the lookout to read more of Rick's books in the future.
Lisa Palmer is a widow of two years. She is a grocery clerk and has had a hard time supporting her and her two kids.  So she is selling her husband cabin thats been in the family for generations.  On her way home she stops to get gas, food. When the lights go off than back on and armed men come and kill 4 guys and rob armed truck getting 6 million.
The guy on floor by her is FBI agent and he tries to get his gun out with Lisa's help and they are seen. The FBI agent is killed and Lisa begs for her life and is spared.
Lisa is willing to help in anyway but they wore motorcycle outfits with helmet on and down they were covered from head to toes.  She was so concerned for her kids and upset by the violence.
Jack Gannon was old school reporter and worked the case trying to get his own leads.  He was first to find out FBI agent had died. plus got more leads. I like Jack don't think much for his editor.
FBI agent Frank Morrow was the lead on the case and he kept getting Lisa to find out more since she was his only source.  Frank just got news he had rare cancer and year to live. or 3% with treatment.  He did not know what to tell his family and kept puting it off.
Everyone kept working the case one clue at a time, With each clue the good guys got more leads. The officers of the law around the world helped each other.

Review: On A Dark Wing by Jordan Dane

4 STARS
This book to awhile for me to be in the mood to start reading it.  Once I got into the book the characters seamed real I wanted to talk back to them.  Say whats going on with you all the ravens? Look at Tanner he is a real friend right in front of you.  I would be tempted to leave town to if that happened to me.
Abbey 5 years ago missed the bus to take her home and on the way home was in a car accident that killed her mom. Abbey has a lot of guilt over that. Abbey best friend is Tanner Lange. Abbey has a crush on Nate and is stalking him.
Tanner had a four wheeler accident that has left him in a wheel chair. He is a reallly great character.  He got a radio to listen to Nate climb for Abbey. He has his learner permit to drive a special van his family has.
Nate holden and his friend Josh trained and planned to climb Denali with his father team. Nate did not know Abbey exsisted really.
The evening before the last day of school Abbey climbed into Tanner bedroom to vent over her father taking her to their cabin for their annual trip to remember Abbey mother. If she went she could not follow Nate's climb with Tanner.
Tanner was upset with something he did not want to show her but he had to. He showed her a website that had pictures wearing today's outfit showing her having sex with guys and other pictures. they had taken her head and put it on different bodies. She was upset and ran home.
Abbey talked her dad into leaving for the cabin a day early and missing the last day of school. Abbey looked at the website and realized someone had put Tanner up saying he was gay with fake pictures too. Abbey felt worse over Tanner's pictures.
Their is a lot of drama in this book and it draws you in that you don't want to stop reading. Their are no sex scenes. Shows a lot of friendships that mean a lot.
Talks a lot of death. Shows how girl's get crushes behaves sometimes.  Would recommend this book.

The setting of this book is France & England 1793.  I seesawed my point of view on what side to take.  I was on one hand supporting freedoms but not all the violence.  I was even rooting for the tories some of the time too.  So I could see how easy it woud be torn about what side you are on.
Dominic was shot in the back in France he was their as a spy for England.  He was taken by a boat to England but had no idea at the time he was close to death. Dominic is a rich titled half english & French.  His identity in France was a printer and in the French army.
Julianne Greystone was supporting the French revolution and met with others in her village in Penzance, Cornwall. In fact she helped start her group like others in England and France. Julianne is the youngest of four and the only one who supported the group. Her brothers Lucas and Jack brought a stranger who was ill for her to nurse better saying Jack found him when he was smuggling and had no idea who he was.
While Dominic was out of his mind he spoke French and about the war so Julianne figured out that he was a French army. So let him know that she would keep his secrets and she was a Jacobean follower too.  She fell in love and was taken in by his alias.
Their is a lot of spying and lying around that time. While Julianne thought she had a lot in common with Charles.  She really didn't have with Dominic who was a rich titled spy for England a Tory.
It was a good plot. You never knew who to trust or if anyone. I would read more of Brenda Joyce's books. I was given this ebook to read in exchange of honest review from Netgalley.

Its always sad to see the end of a series that you like.  All the familar characters from past books were back and showing how they are growing.  This time their are two couples stories being told, that started in Ireland over Christmas. When the whole O'brien family went together to celebrate and share Nell's beloved Ireland.
Nell ran intoDillon her past boyfriend of 60 years ago.  They got close over Christmas and wanted to see where it could go.  Dillon and his grandaughter Moira came to United States to see Nell's home.  Over at Christmas at a party at Dillon's house to introduce his family to Nells family Luke and Moira got together.
Luke stayed for a few weeks longer getting to know Moira and also looking into Irish Pubs.  Luke decided to open an Irish pub back into his hometown Chesapeake Shores.  He was the youngest grandchild so far and he had not found his passion for anything till now.  He thought that it felt right opening an Irish pub with music.  He felt a lot of pressure because everyone in his family has succeded in their work.
Luke did not know where things were going with Moira, especially because he was working to get his bar open in May. Luke did not have time or energy to email more than a few lines at a time.  Luke did think about her often though.  When at a welcome party for Dillon at his Grandmother's house he was surprised to see Moira over here. Luke missed her and was glad to see her.
Moira was worried about surprising Luke by comming over with her Grandfather.  She was pushing Luke for more than he was ready at this time in his life.  Moira also was getting a new career offered for herself back in Ireland. Plus Luke old girlfriend was still hanging around and the O'brien family all had to get involved before everything was over.
I enjoyed getting to know the O'Brien family. I was given this ebook to read in exchange of a honest review from Netgalley.

How to Slay a Dragon by Bill Allen

4 stars
How to Slay a Dragon is a fun ride. It is quite the adventure that Greg Hart finds him self in. Greg is a hero in his stories that he writes but in school he is picked on by bullies. One day he was running from the bullies and all of a sudden he is somewhere else Myrth.
King Peter of Myrth had his magicians bring him for they believed he was the hero who was prophicied would slay the dragon and rescue the princess.  They all really belived this boy could slay the dragon. Greg knew they got the wrong person because their was no way he could kill a dragon.
Lucky helped to choose Greg and he knew he was right after all he was lucky.
Lucky would show Greg the way. Lucky lost his parents last year and the King brought him to the castle to be brought up. Lucky also had magic backpack that he carried a lot of food even a sword in it.
First they have to travel a forest that after you got to the middle the trails disappear. It also is full of monsters.  They also have to face a witch to get tools they need to survive a dragon's Lair.
Greg has to face a lot of enemys before he even got to see the dragon. It is a entertaining adventure and their is more adventures coming in the future that I would not mind reading too.

Tender Loving Cure by Gayle Kasper

3 STARS
This story seam so familar. Then I realized its a Loveswept Classic and I had read it years ago.  The fun thing about ebooks is that a lot old books you can get now and have room to store them.
Margaret Springer is giving a seminar called Sex Talk at hospitals to Dr.'s so
they will be able to talk more at ease to their patients.
Dr. Joel Benedict's partner signed him up for the course and he had no intentions of taking the course until he saw how pretty she was.  Joel was interested in flirting with her not the class.  After the first session he did not go back for the next but he took her to dinner to talk.
Next day at hospital cafe Joel was their with his 16 daughter Kim eating lunch
when Maggie was. She stopped by and Kim asked her over for dinner that night. Kim also wanted her to go out to their family farm and ride horses.
Joel and Maggie fought their attraction even though Kim was throwing them together and enjoyed Maggie.
Joel was being to strict with Kim from Kim & Maggie's point of view. Personaly I agree with Joel.
Joel was a widower and raised Kim by himself since she was 10 years old.
Joel and Maggie became lovers and thier was a lot of sex scenes in this story.
Maggie was traveling all over for her seminars and that was hard to on relationship.
Its okay romance not my favorite from Loveswept.  I was given this ebook to read in exchange of honest review from Netgalley.

While observing the commune Ten meets John D. a Almond grower who's trees are all dying.  They become friends and when he is mugged looks into that for him.
The mystery winds around and around as Ten tries to piece it all together.  He talks a little of what he learned from his life as a monk.  How he tries not to lie but he does mislead with parts of truth. His expartner looks up stuff for him also someone he busted and helped get on the right path helps him look up stuff on the computer.
Ten is a mixture of spirtual and worldly. He has a zen garden, sports car, fancy phone does not want to take money for nothing. Has a cat that can't climb down off a tree. believes in karma.  He is not just one thing but has good points and faults. Look forward to reading more of his adventures.

4 STARS
It's hard to rate this book, because this is the first book of the series that I have read so it was a little confusing to me at times. I believe this is the 4th of the mystyx series.
The Mystyx were created by Styx and given powers before they were born. Their are four of them we know about.
Lindsey Yi is Korean American.  Who was in a train wreck a year ago that killed her parents. She lives now with her guardian in what people believe is a haunted house. She can read minds of those around her except when she or they are wearing black.  This story is about her and being tested as well.
Krystal is a medium. Jake has the only active power he moves things with his mind. Sasha can travel outside her body. They are only juniors in high school.
They are supposed to stop Charon from comming to this realm and keep him in hades. They all need to controll their powers and work together somehow.
It was interesting and if I had read other books probably would care more for the characters.
Their are a lot of Deaths around the four teenagers. Lots of new kids in the school.
Would recommend that you read the first 3 books first to enjoy the story better.

Review: Sex, Lies and Surveillance by Julian, Stephanie

4 Stars
I really liked the story line would love to them in more books.  There was a lot of sex scenes in it.
Malcolm Laughlin was working undercover at a DeMarcos's detective office.
Grace and Frank were highly decorated in the intelligence field before they went private.  Mal last case his partner was murdered and his killer implicated the DeMarcos name.
Mal was very attracted to Janey the office computer specialist and the youngest child of Grace and Frank.  He was fighting his feelings, until he realized Janey was having same feelings.
The only leads he had led to Janey being the one tied to the case.
Janey family were overprotective they even got Mal to spy on Janey blind date when her brother was in an accident. Mal had already dated and kissed her by then.
It had some laughter, some bad guys and lots of good guys.  Would love to see Janey's two brothers in their own story.

Review Love Finds a Way by Wanda E. Brunstetter

4 STARS
This book has three stories in it.  I decided to write the review after I had read each short story.  I liked Blueberry Surprise.
Lorna has been a widow for about a year and is working two jobs. She was in collage as a music major when she met her husband. Lorna had quit school to help her husband to go to medical school when he was killed in a motorcycle accident.
Lorna has quit one of her jobs so she can go back to school and be a music teacher.
Evan got out of the Air Force and decided to go to a Christian Collage on GI bill.
He wanted to work with kids and he also wanted to get married and start a family.
Evan also was taking a online cooking class.
The first day of school they bumped into each other and papers flew.  They had a few classes together. Evan wanted to get to know her better. Kept asking her out.
Lorna did not want to date anyone.
It was good to see Lorna opening up more and it was funny how Evan kept messing up cooking.
Doll Matchmaker
Sheila's grandmother had to move into a retirement place so she offered each grandchild to take something from her house to remember them by.
Sheila as a child would always play with this one doll and would pray that someday it would be hers.  So Sheila came for the doll after searching for it, found out it had been sold to antique store.
Dwaine had just bought a antique store from previous owners family because he had altimers. He had no idea where anything was so Dwaine and Sheila were on a hunt to find the doll.  In mean time Dwaine kept asking her out. Sheila liked him but she lived three states away and knew how hard long distance romances were.

Matchmaker 911
Wendy father Wayne was at the hospital cafe when he met Kyle.  Kyle helped him when he was struggling with his tray and cane. He thought Kyle would be good for his single daughter who was not interested in dating.
So he arranged a emergency and called timing it so Wendy coming home to fix lunch would meet Kyle the paramedic.  After the second call Kyle and his partner accepted the lunch offer.
Wendy was bitter from past romance and had a problem trusting men and worked as a barber and saw rude & crude behavior.  At first Wendy thought her dad was lonely since he could not work anymore but after third 911 call realized he was matchmaking.
I enjoyed all three stories. They were clean and left you with a smile.  I was given this ebook to read in exchange of honest review from Netgalley.

Review: The Legacy of Eden by Nelle Davy

3 Stars
The Legacy of Eden is a depressing story of a family farm and lives of different generations living together. I useally smile at the end of a Harlequin novel but this one ended different for me.
It shows the bad decisions, morals , pride and greed of each family member when things or places mean more than people.
It seams like every generation kicked members out of the family and it was easier than you thought to cross them off.
The story was told by youngest member of the family left at what happened even before she was born or even her father was born.
The story keeps you interested, keep hoping things will work out.

Review:Shadow's Stand by Sarah McCarty

4 STARS
I loved the story but too much sex scenes in it for me to be comfortable with.
Fei is part chinese part american.  Shadow is indian.  We first meet them at Shadow's hanging.  Fei fools everybody to thinking her father wants her to marry Shadow so rescues him and marrys him.
Fei has fooled a lot of people thinking her father was still strong and working with dynamite. Instead she has been dressing up and blowing things up.
Fei also has a gold mine discovers but she can't file a claim on it so she needs protecting.  She wants the gold to rescue her cousin that her father sold while he was not right in the head.
Shadow besides this hanging for horse theifing is wanted by the US army for killing a man in front of them. This man was rich with powerful friends who was trying to murder two women.  Shadow had a large bounty on his head.
Shadow stayed away from his brothers the Hell 8 to protect them. All 8 of them were Texas Rangers. He also wanted to help Fei but send her away to keep her safe.
It was a good story would be better without all the sex scenes in detail.  I would like to read more about the Hells 8 bunch. I was given this ebook to read in exchange for honest review from Netgalley.

Review: The Billionaire wins the Game by Melody Anne

3 STARS
This is the first book in the billionaire bachelors series. I liked it wish it did not have the love scenes in so much detail.
Joseph Anderson retired and thinks his three sons should marry and give him grandchildren to play with.  He found the perfect wife for Lucas his first child.
Amy Harper had just graduated from collage and Joseph Anderson hired her to be executive secretary for Lucas Anderson now the head of the company.
Lucas had no idea that he had a new secretary and did not want one that he did not choose. Awhile later he was getting jealous anytime Amy was talking with a single guy.  Lucas found out that Amy was living in a dangerous situation and moved her out.
Useally after the first three months a benafit package was given to new employees but because Amy was in need they were giving it to her now.
Apartment in the their building that was on the top floor. A car that was hers to drive for business and personal that would be replaced every two years with new model of her choosing.
Amy was raised by a junkie and was placed in foster care right before she began high school which was a better life for her and a chance for her to get scholarships she needed for collage.
Lucas and Amy had sex one time and she got pregnant but hid it first few months.  Lucas found out they got married right away and than had to figure out their relationship.
It is a typical romance and was enjoyable love Joseph.

Jessica Sanders wanted to visit the Fairmont hotel so she was glad to go to the fundraiser for National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.  Jessica danced with Alex when he asked. Alex wanted to be alone with her and she declined. Later they were in the elevator by themselves when the power went out. Jessica is afraid of the dark and was sitting on Alex's lap for awhile and they ended up having sex in the elevator in the dark. After the elevator was moving again Jessica got out and away from Alex without saying anything.
A year later Joseph figured out that Alex was a father of Jessica three month old son.

Review: Designed for Death by Jean Harrington

5 STARS
Well I kept guessing the whole book who the murder was and till the end was not sure at all.Designed for Death keeps you in suspense to the end.  I look forward to reading more of Jean Harrington work. I hope their are more books with Deva Dunne.
Deva Dunne has moved down to Florida to get away from her old life.  Her husband's death was hard on her.  So she bought a condo and she has not worked for awhile until helping  Dick the owner of her condo's was redoing them and she did not like his taste so offered to help.  Dick sent her Treasure.  Treasure stopped by her condo and asked her for help with her condo.  Deva was excited to get back to designing and helped get the condo done all in white like Treasure wanted.  Deva was into the condo the day before Treasure was to move into it for a final check and saw blood on carpet.  She followed and found Treasure naked in the tub dead.
Everyone in the condo complex was a suspect. Treasure's neighbor next door Simon was just coming back  when he heard Deva scream,  Simon is a tax lawyer and going through a divorce.
Dick the complex owner strapped for money but getting the condos fixed up to sale. He is married to Marilyn.
AudreyAnn and Chip are living together in one condo.  AudreyAnn is a Pilates instructor. Chip is a retired chef.
Neal is a golfer for a living always going out of town.
Lots of suspects and lots of action for Deva.  Deva does not want to date, she is still not over her husband Jack.
Simon asks her to dinner to discuss fixing his condo up. Even lieutenant Rossi tries to take her to dinner.
I like Deva she is starting to enjoy her life and working again.  She keeps finding information out and gives it to Rossi. Who is always telling her to trust no one that everyone who knew Treasure is a suspect.  So Deva does not know who to trust. To top everything off their is a hurricane that is coming their way.

4 STARS
I listened to the fables with my kindle text to speech feature that I am liking.
The book has lots of really short fables in it both old and new ones.
Aesop is comparing his fables to Ethan new fables and thinks some are just like his and others are not.
It has been quite along time since I have read any of Aesop fables.  I have to admit that I don't always see the point the fable is trying to get across. The fables are well told and enjoyable. I think it was a good idea to compare the two different writers trying to get the same message across.

Review: The Wedding Gift by Kathleen McKenna

5 STARS
The story just flows really well.  I was definately drawn into the story.  I can see why some reviews I have read like Leeann and others don't. Me I am mixed. Leeann you want things to work out for her but she is selfish. full of pride and I don't like her morals at all.  But she has something that draws me
to her. She is very young in some ways and very grown up in different ways.
George is too grown up at 26 to be going after a 17 year old giving her drinks, cocaine, sex and expensive presents.  Personally don't have respect for him at all. Plus he is getting everything he wants and no responsiblity. Mama's boy.
Jessie is tough on the outside but is a loyal friend.  She has had a hard life.
Most of the characters drink too much and do drugs.
But the story is well written and draws you into Leeann life and all those around her.  The story is told in her voice as she is writing it down in journal and you see how she gets caught off guard by George and his riches.  Then after a while the horror of the story just glides into place little by little.
Its a good book to read just don't read too late at night if you have a good imangination.  I was given this ebook to read in exchange of honest review by Netgalley.

Kevin would not serve him anymore, but offered coffee free. The drunk was going to hit Kevin but hit girl friend instead.  As cops were taking him away he fired his date Beth.
At his brother Joe wedding Beth was the bartender. Kevin tried to ask her out and after Kevin was outside and Beth was their.  They went up to Kevin hotel room and beth left in the night.  Kevin did not know her last name or phone number.

It is nice to see how they grew closer and getting ready for the baby. How Kevin was trying to do more for her and thinking about her and the baby. Kept getting confused in the story. Had a lot of sex scenes. Lot of deaths.
Their is also self sacrifice, love and forgiveness.
Dr. Layla Bahset has no memories of her life except the last two years.  She woke up in the deseret in a car, box of certificate she earned and plenty of money enough to set up her office.

But after he always bleeds. Ray also has uncontrollable anger fits. He wants to find out who set him up to be a treason. He also wants to find the woman psychologist who was their asking the questions.

I had a good time reading Next of Kin.  Their is violence and sex scenes in the story.
Beth witnessed a murder and does the right thing by calling the cops.  But their is some bad cops and later FBI that inform the murder and she escapes each time but after three near misses with the safe houses, Beth leaves the safe house.
Beth at the age of 17 had fallen in love with Ryal Walker age 25. They were distant cousins.  Beth parents took her and moved without anyone knowing where they were going.  Beth thought it was because of their love that her parents moved.  For 10 years she had gone from Rebel Ridge.  Beth called her Uncle Will and he got her out of L.A.
Ryal at age of 25 had fallen for Beth and planned to ask her at Christmas to marry him. She would be 18 by than. Ryal had tried to find Beth after they left but no one told him why or where her family moved too.  Thou a little while later he found the reason that they left home. Ryal made furniture for a living working out of his home.
Beth's parents were from the same area and she had lots of family who were willing and able to hide and protect her.
It was great to see how her family helped her even if she had been gone for 10 years.  Their is lot of action with the mob looking for her.  Lot of deaths in trying to protect her. The violence is not graphic. Will read a lot more books by Sharon Sala. I was given the ebook to read in exchange of honest review from Netgalley.

Review:Secrets of the Lost Summer by Carla Neggers

4 STARS
Well I had to stay up late to finish the book. It was a enjoyable read.
Oliva Frost lived in Boston for the last 5 years. But last fall bought a early nineteen hundred home in her hometown Knights Bridge to slowly turn into a business.  Oliva planned to open a place for weddings, parties and someday mini conference stays.
Oliva is a graphic designers and she had a lunchen date with her biggest client.
Her friend Maggie she had been helping her get her work turned around was comming to Boston and they planned to get together but Maggie cancelled and then her business lunchen was cancelled by text.  Oliva decided to go to lunch by herself and at the restraunt she saw her friend with her client at lunch.  Oliva could not believe her so called friend Maggie was stealing her client.
Oliva was hurt and decided that she would go back now to her hometown and start fixing up her home.  She was going to freelance for her firm till she was ready to open her business.
The house stood by itself except a old beaten up home with junk and weeds in the yard.  It was close to a Dam that used to be four towns but the goverment years ago decided to move them so they could have plenty of water for Boston.
The owner had bought the home two years ago and it stood empty getting worse.
So she wrote to owner in California and asked them to clean up yard or let her do it.
Dylan McCaffrey got her letter and he had never heard of the place or new nothing about it. Found out his dad had bought the house right before he died.  Dylan dad was a treasure hunter.  Dylan was a professional hockey player till he got injured and cut.  Then he helped his best friend Noah, since kindergarden start his business and they just went public so now he was rich.  He decided to go to Knights Bridge and see what his dad was doing their. So Dylan went to clean up yard and decide what to do with the house.
So Dylan and Oliva  got caught up in figuring out the mystery of what treasure his father was looking for.
Oliva is close to her family but they have a bunch of issues to work out. Dylan gets closer to his deceased father as he figures the mystery out and keeps coming back to Oliva.
It kept my interest in the book till the end. I will read more books by Carla in the future. I was given this ebook to read from Netgalley in exchange for honest review.

Derrick was still attracted to her. Cam had just had a meeting with Derrick and told him he needed to be married to win the race.  Derrick replied by saying no.
Derrick came up with a marriage proposal that if she would marry him and let everyone  believe they were in love and be his hostess.
Alesha had strong reactions to Derrick kisses.

Review: Black Tie Affair by Sherrill Bodine

4 STARS
Well this is the third Sherrill Bodine book that I have read this week.  I have  like all three. This one has an almost unbelievable poison in it. That actually did happen to a real person. Though I don't know if the sideeffects are the same.
Athena, Venus, and Diana Smith are sisters who are opening a store together Pandora's Box. A Vintage couture bazaar.  Their father was let go of his shop after working for years at Clayworth's.  Their father won't discuss it and Clayworths won't either they signed papers to that fact.
Athena doesn't want to do anything with them now, but she was in the process to get 4 vintage couture gowns of Bertha Palmer that are stored in a secret underground bomb shelter. The exhibt would be part of a scholarship fundraiser that her assistent would get.
When in the bombshelter in the vault by herself after an hour she is having halllucinations that Bertha is their and Jackie O but she was leaving so she was going to follow her. Bridget got Athena to the emergency room for help.  was Bridget was too worried about getting Athena to medical care she did not lock up the bombshelter and the four dresses were stollen.
Athena one of the side effects was telling the truth.  She was calling Drew's name and so he went to see her in her hospital room.
Drew Clayworth lost his parents at 18 and Athena betrayed him when she was 17.  Since then they stayed out of each others way.  Now the 4 dresses that were taken could infect others and they could be sued if others were harmed.
So Drew and Athena had to work together to find the dresses and they spend a lot of time together and look back at the things and see what happened.  As they find the dresses one by one.
Who knew that old dresses could end up poisoning those around them in just the right conditions (or wrong ones)
I enjoyed reading Black Tie affair and can't wait to read Diana's story if their is one coming.

Review: A Stranger's Gift by Anna Schmidt

5 STARS
It makes me want to go help more or at least get out and make a goal again to make at least 52 hats this year for those in need.   I enjoyed reading this book to start the new year.
John Steiner has spent the last two years since he moved to Florida fixing up the old house, orchards, gardens and packing warehouse.  He wants to be alone and self sustaining on his land.  He is Amish but left his church and state when they shunned him.
Two different people came and told him he need to ride out the hurricane in a shelter. John refused he went to a shelter the last time and it was crowded and he didn't have to go.
Hester Detweiler is in charge of one of the Mennonite charities that help in times of diaster.  Because John's Aunt's is a Senator she was asked to go warn him. Hester resented having to go warn him and than he refused to go.  She felt their were others who needed her help more.
Margery Barker is a widow that lives and runs a fishing charters close to John
and trying for the past two years to friend him.  She was the first to try and get him into a shelter.
Well the hurricane hit his place hard. The river was coming into his house fast as he was gathering stuff to take upstairs with him the roof and a wall crashed in on him. He was lucky to have survived holding onto a beam.  all of his trees the old and the new ones destroyed. Could not get to town by road with all the trees down across his road. Chicken coop destroyed, damage to the warehouse. Broke his wrist and had to be airlifted out.
He had to learn again that he had to accept help and give it.  Forgive himself for his mother's death and realize that he can trust others again.
It is a Christian story of helping others, relying on prayer and scriptures.  That
positive things can come out of our trials. I would read gladly more books from Anna. I was given this ebook to read in exchange of honest review from Netgalley.
