Spirits Rising is book 1 of the Spirit Caller Series.
Rachel can feel the supernatural. Thier are those in her comunity that call her a witch and demon worshiper.
The teenagers know if they are drunk she will come and give them a ride home, rather than have them drive drunk.  Manuel O'Toole called because their were a lot of people in his basement drinking and his parents will be coming home soon. He needs help getting rid of them.  They were Vikings ghosts in the flesh and drinking.
It was interesting short novel, that left a lot of strings for a more stories.  Like who abanded her as a baby. The guy she likes is her good friend but he has a girl friend. Would like to see where the next novel would go.

The Evil Inside by Heather Graham

The Evil Inside is a 4th in the Krew novels.  I have not read any of the ones before, but I have read one after where he sets up another unit. I do feel that I have missed some about how the group worked together previous. But does do well standing on its own. I would like to read them all some day.
The story takes place in Salem, Massachusetts.  It has a lot of the Salem Witch trials ref. in it. Even some of their ghosts.
Sam Hall a high price defense attorney is coming home to Salem to deal with his family home and almosts runs over a naked boy in the middle of the street covered with blood.
The police when they come put thier guns on the boy who is in shock and tells Sam he just killed his whole family with a ax.
Jenna Duffy is a member of a special team in the FBI when her Uncle Jamie asks her to come visit him on vacation now.  On her way into town she hears about the murders that happened in the Lexington House.  decades ago other sets of murder happened in that house.
Jenna's Uncle Jamie asked her to come because of other murders that happened last week and six months before that. They were killed by axe too.
Malachi Smith was accused of being seen coming out of the house by other teenage boys. Though a grocery owner swears that the boy was in his store for over an hour at time of first murder too. Now Malachi was under arrest for killing his family.
Malachi was different than most boys. He was skinny and belonged to a church that was strict. When the big football players would try and cause trouble for him he would just turn the cheek.  In fact one football player at lunch time took his tray and started to beat himself up and said it was Malachi gave him the eye and made him do it.
Malachi was taken out of school because a lot of people believed the football player. Jamie knew that Malachi was innocent of any of the crimes and wanted jenna to help clear him.
Jenna sometimes see past events happen again she also sees ghosts too. Some of her team comes to visit the sites for halloween. Because the FBI can't investigate unless they are called in.
Jamie also convinces Sam to head Malachi defense probono. Sam also has a private investigator license to help him investigates what happens on his cases and finds the real killers.
So Jenna is just helping Sam with the defense. Sam does not believes that she can talk to ghosts.  They grow a lot closer and Sam starts believing more.

I had a nice enjoyable break reading Sweet Sourthern Nights.  Also learned a few new facts at the same time.
Dr. Levi Eaton is working in Kentucky for six months. He has a practice in New York city.  When he is asked to take Duncan Chase's sister to a wedding in two days.  He calls her and agrees to have dinner the night before so they knew a little about each other first.
Angela Chase five years ago the day before her wedding got a call from her fiance saying he and her best friend where flying to vegas to get married because they were having a baby. After that she dated a lot not wanting to get serious with anyone. At her cousin will be the first time she has seen the pair since they left her.
Angela owns a gift shop with her cousin and only two of her family knows that she writes romance novels under a different name. Angela only trusts her family now days.
Levi agrees to help her to seem to be serious as a couple when she finds that they are moving back to town. Levi does not want to get serious with anyone when he is going back to New York in a few months. He promises Angela that he won't lie to her or cheat on her.
Angela shows him around the kentuck derby and she is a southern belle.
They were fun to watch. I hope her brothers will get a book about them.
There were a few love scenes in the book.

Review: The Lost Goddess by Tom Knox

I have mixed views on this book.  Their is a lot of history in here that I really did not know about. All the violence of the past is painful, scary and the numbers are hard to believe. But if we do not learn from the past we will repeat it.
The mystery and suspense some of it or a lot of the science bits I did not totally understand and I really hope that part if pure fiction but know some is probably true.
Their are two parts of the story and how they switched threw me some and had to realize that they had switched again.
Julia was a archaeolgist working in a cave underground in France at the begining. I liked her but wanted more emotion from her. I felt a little detached from her.  She was trying to put the pieces together and came up with a theory.
Jake was a photographer who was working on photos for a coffee book when he wanted to find out more of what was happened in the past That Chemda was trying to uncover in Cambodia.  So Jake went with her to the Plain of Jars and their escape to figure out the past and stay alive began.
I had a hard time caring about Jake and Chemda I don't know if it was I could not totally escape into the book or if just a bad day for me to connect.  I am thinking it was because I was more concerned about the real victims in the history of the region that I could not enjoy the book more.
I know that I want to know more of the region history and have already looked up and read more about the Plain of Jars.  The history and the discriptions of the region were real and I could envision it.

Review:Persuasion A Latter-Day Tale by Rebecca H. Jamison

I stayed up till 4:00 am reading this book.  I think its the first book of Rebecca's that I have read. Hope not the last one. It's  an LDS romance of what happens when you run into ex-boyfriend and rethinks the past.
Anne is helping her dad who is in so much debt that he is loseing his house with a garage sale.  When Neil an old boyfriend shows up with his brother Jack Wentworth to look at the house.  Anne was once in engaged for a day to Neil but her parents did not want her to marry him.  She also was young and with her parents divorced Anne wanted to make sure it was right.
Now 8 years later Anne is still single and is going to stay with her sister Mary who is on bedrest and help out with her two nephews after work each day.  When she walks into Mary's frontroom and finds Neil with Mary's two single sister-in-laws, Hannah and Lily.  Both are interested in Neil, who is staying with his brother while he recovers from accident from car chase.
Neil is now a Police Captain and still single.  No one knows they used to date and had a bad breakup.  Neil hangs around Hannah and Lily a lot and Anne right next door staying at her sisters.   Neil avoids talking to Anne or even looks at her.
Anne keeps looking back at their relationship and how it ended. She has lots of regrets.  They keep running into each other, every time Anne thinks maybe he can forgive her something comes up in the way.
It keeps you interested in the story wanting to know what happens next. Who will Neil pick Hannah or Lily everyone tries to guess.
I liked the book it had no swearing or sex scenes in it.  A book I don't have to worry about my kids reading it. I was given this ebook to read in exchange of honest review from Netgalley.

Amber Fox is back! She still works for her ex-fiance turn boss, Fiance as a insurance investgator.  Amber used to be a cop till she shot her boss in the but.
Amber is smart,funny and afraid if she does set a wedding date something will make Brad disappear again.
Brad used to be in SAS and last time they were going to be wed he was sent on a secret mission for 3 months and he could not tell anyone or get word out. He is owner of insurence company. He has killed before when Amber was about to be killed. He had  the bodies disappear. Brad eats no junk food, does not like clutter or cats. But he likes Amber's cat and nick nacks.
Hacker used to be in SAS under Brad's command. He  use voodoe only for good. He can hack computers.
Tia is sec. for Brad met Amber when she was searching for Tia's father. Tia is a psychic. Not very good at it.
This case is to find a missing Chantal daughter of a voodoo priestesses and a big land developer. Her best friend Lisa disappeared six months ago and was trying to find her. Lisa is a reporter but no one knows what story she was working on.
Its a very entertaining story. Hope that this is not the last time I get to read about Amber Fox. I have liked all three stories about her cases.
Sibel Hodges books that I have read all have some humor in them and will read more of her books in the future.  I was given this book to read in exchange of honest review.

Review: Baby Trap by Sibel Hodge

This is a serierous subject but told with laughter. About a couple that one day the Gina in her 30's wakes up and decides she wants a baby.
But the first month no luck and then after a few more months ended up taking his sperm for testing. She has 2 hrs to get the sperm to hospital lap.
She gets stuck in traffic ends up going over a farmer field and speeding down a road and she has tube of sperm down her pants to keep at body tempature is pulled over for speeding 20 miles over. She asks for ticket and cop never had someone ask for a ticket. He has her get out and sees the top of tube. She breaks down and tells him why and what is in tube. He understands because it took him & wife 3 years so she gets a police escort and makes it 5 min. left.
Gina gets more and more stressed and Karl feels like he just a thing to only have sex on certain days and certain ways.
I know it seems unfair that so many people want to have a baby and can't and so many people throw babies and children away. I know when I got married and 2 weeks later ended up pregnant I felt guilty because of people we knew tried for years. than I got pregnant again and 3 years after I was married I had 2 beautiful girls and was a widow.  We don't know all are blessings and trials at the time they are happening and we don't see exactly what others are going through. Thanks for showing that their is always hope.
